May Allah accept your efforts Sister Maryam :)
The Ayat in question isn't "deeply misunderstood" it is deeply misused and misquoted.
You can "beat" your spouse with words as well; it's called verbal abuse.
The police force IS a completely different discussion. support of domestic violence victims first stars in the communities. Where do domestic violence victims go when members of the community are also hostile toward them and ready to snitch on them to the Child Social Services at any time for their own gains?
What resources???? In some examples the human beings running these resources are struggling to remain professional and impartial in their support of domestic violence victims. Other times they are poorly funded and poorly run with little safety for the domestic abuse victims.
There is no system set up in favour of domestic violence victims anywhere.
I know a friend of mine who shut himself up in the bathroom so his wouldn't hit him. From his bathroom, he called cops, when the cops arrived, she flipped the tables over and accused him of DV. Cops arrested him and before he could prove himself right, he had to spend two days in jail. So please stop this nonsense that men are the only abusers, women can be too. Alhamdulillah more and more people are realizing that toxic feminism is a thing.
Also can you show a DV center for men??? System is biased towards women.
That's a very poor and dangerous example given to a daughter! Break his bows and arrows and see if he beats you or not??? If he does he's worth marrying if he doesn't he's not worth marriage???! This has got to have come from a pre-islamic mindset!
How demeaning is that??!!! When a woman is hiding in her own bathroom from her abuser???
