    This video should be re-titled "What do before switching sim cards to a new phone.". Simply placing a sim card into a phone doesn't make it usable for calls and text. It must be identified by the cellular service, give them the equipment id and be talking with them on another phone to get this done. I was hoping this video was about that process. You bring up some good points for prep, but that's it.

    2:00 Reset is not the same as Restart. Restarting is just powering off and powering on again. Resetting means data loss and going back to an earlier point in time, such as a factory reset.

    So when you buy a new "unlocked" phone that can accept pretty much every carrer, it should accept the stim card right? Otherwise I assume it's not a region free phone and you got ripped off right? Well wish me luck hopefully this new phone I bought will have no problems.

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  4 роки тому

      Yes correct. If you are buying an international phone it most likely uses GSM and can be used on any supported carrier, unless it has been region locked then it can be only used in its origin country.

    Ok, so I'm not the most tech-savvy of seniors, but I get by. I use low-cost phones because it's what I can afford, and they work fine for my needs. I liked your video because you didn't talk 500 miles per minute. I just bought a new LG 4+, an upgrade from the Aristo. Toward the end of your video, you kind of lost me about switching out the sim card. I usually let my carrier do it, but the last time I did last, I lost half of my contacts. How can I make sure I don't lose any of my current info? I do have a new sim card, but can't I just use my old one from the other LG?

    Lovely video Brett. Thank you very much for the lucid explanations.
    I have been told that every new phone comes with a new sim card and the old sim card data can be transferred to the new sim card/phone. This includes retaining the SAME phone number. However, the seller seemed to be reluctant to do this. I sensed that, possibly, he has to do a bit of extra work. Can you please explain, is it possible to have a new card with the new phone and retaining the same number? I appreciate if you could offer a plausible solution please, Thank you.

    I just bought a Nokia 3.4 from a well known shopping channel because my original phone, an Alcatel, completely died on me.
    I don't like this Nokia phone at all!
    You get 60 days to try it out and return it if I want to. I put my SIM and SD card from my old Alcatel into it so I could get onto the internet.
    I followed the on screen instructions to get started, logged into my Google account, and started using my email, used the internet, downloaded a couple of apps etc.
    I was on the internet searching and found an Alcatel phone for sale (unused) exactly same model as my old one (which I loved!) so bought it.
    So, to now send this Nokia phone back I'll need to log out of my Google account, delete a couple of apps that I downloaded etc and do a factory reset.
    My question is, do I remove the SIM and the SD card from the Nokia first, and then log out of google, delete the apps etc and then do a reset. Or do you have to leave them in the phone in order to do this? I'm just not sure.
    I want to put my SIM and SD card into my new Alcatel phone I just bought.

    If you have a sim and micro SD (like a galaxy, NOT like an Iphone) do you still need to transfer everything or can you just put the SD and sim from old phone into new phone?
