Hey guys, Today i am working on the blackbird changing the engine oil + filter. Torque Specs: Sump Bung: 29nm Oil Filter: 10nm Oil I used: www.supercheap... Filter: Local Dealer
Nice clear video showing the process. I use a G clamp that I put over the filter which makes it easy to remove from underneath without removing the fairing panel. The filter kind of sits inside the G clamp (so the clamp grips the 9 o clock position, rather than the 6 and 12 o clock if that makes sense at all!). 🙄 That said, as your video makes clear, removing the fairing panel is straightforward enough. My bike looks identical to your btw...it's registered 1999..so very last of the carb models. I also have a BMW K1600gt but, despite being tight for space, I can never bring myself to sell the blackbird...it's a brilliant bike.
That's a good idea, reckon i would still remove the fairing though as easy to do. Mine is a 96 model so very first! They are great bikes for sure! Thanks for watching
Great video Dan, I will admit that I have reused crush washers myself but I do agree with you, for the cost, it really does make sence to replace them at each oil change. Thanks for a great video, such a nice bike. Dino
Cheers Dino. You can buy them in large packs from Amazon and such like. It's not just the sealing factor of the crush that happens it also takes some of the torque from the bolt. When it can't be crushed anymore you start stretching the threads in the sump. Loving the bike so far very easy to work on!
@@MOTODANS Nice wan. From Fife originally, lived in Cullross, Auchtermuchty and Kinross. Try and get some of your NZ mates to pronounce Muchty....LOL. Have a good wan Dan, and cheers again.
My VTR1000 is nearing the end of its life, so I've been considering a Blackbird as a replacement so your videos are spot on for me!
Thanks Rod. Let me know if you decide to get one they are great bikes!

Thanks for the video, hope you keep doing it more like this on the Blackbird!
Don't have many more to be honest. Recently sold the bike!
Pity, but any video like this is appreciated.
