Thanks for the comments guys, I really was hoping to start some dialogue on this subject. Will weight sorting reduce flyers? Maybe. The reason it’s not a sure thing is the weight discrepancy may be in the brass and not the projectile or propellant, so the weight difference would not be as much of a factor. Weighing overall (as a complete cartridge) only tells you so much of the components and their weight individually. Thanks again guys!
So, does a $20+ box of Lapua shoot better than a $5 box of CCI-Std, " it better " !! Just let me say, I shoot a ton of CCI-Std for trigger time and punching holes in paper, and yes I still weight sort every box, IMHO it does eliminate the wild flyers when you have rounds ranging from 49.3gr - 51.8gr that's will be a problem with low-velocity ammo and for sure, we may be chasing our tails be it the bullet, powder, primer mix, who knows maybe it's just my OCD ...........Thanks for showing !! On game day, use the high end stuff, just make sure your rifle likes it !!
I really like cci standard , shoots very good and doesn't have that much sound as Aguila super extra ( that I also really like ) , the cci can be a benefit for when you need it just a little quieter coon hunting and tree one close to other houses or have neighbors
Excellent video! I sorted some older rws target rifle by rim thickness and it still shot horrible in my cz452. Proves your point about cheaper ammo still wont shoot even after sorting! But ill still experiment with other ammo just to see if it makes a difference. I just need 1 moa at 100 yds. Thats all.
I do similar with velocitors. 51.9, 52.0, 52.1 are the core weight majority. Get about 35 ish out of a box of 50. Rest of the weights range from 51.6 to 52.3. It has eliminated those WTF flyers alot. I do the same with 40 gr mini mags, blazer which is extremely accurate, and the Small game bullet which seems to be no longer made. Those last 3 all 1235fps and same poi with weighed out blazer being sub .5" grouping Velocitors are .5" 10 shot groups at 50 yds when weighed out. Bad juju for squirrels.

There are to many variables between the weight on itself for the brass case, projectile, primer and/or powder and therefore futile.
Yes absolutely! that’s what I demonstrated in the video
