- The exciting conclusion of my Brimfield trip! I went with a limited budget and a small SUV- I had to focus on scouting fields to sell at for next season. But no way am I driving 3 hours and NOT coming home with at least a few vintage items haha What a place! It was the most walking i've done in any location, and worth every step. If you're into anything vintage or antique? This is the place for you! And if its too far away to visit, come along with me and keep your eyes peeled...

I got up @ 5:30 this morning. Tomorrow I get up @ 4:00 to drive to the Sussex hamfest. (a swap meet for ham radio). Your knowledge about these pieces of vintage cookware amazes me. Good take on this trip!
Those early times are for the birds- I left at 3am! Lol I'd say your knowledge of radios is more impressive, but I'll take compliments whenever I can 🤣

I was tradin cast iron in Soddy Daisy with a store owner that taught me a lot about unmarked pieces. I would say "this is an unmarked Griswold" he would say "I don't believe it is". Same with a Wagner. Finally said in a nice way "what do you think it is Mr. Sharp"? He said "I run a store, if it isn't marked I can't convince them what it is". To the experienced eye we know what it is but to a 2023 cook they don't care. I've cleaned Asian cast iron that sold for good money right beside one notch and three notch Lodges and BSRs. My buddy owns an estate sale company and I clean his iron. I get to watch how they sell and you'll sell a lot more skillets to cooks than collectors which being a collector this surprised me. $45 seems to be the magic number for moving skillets.
I definitely sell mostly 6-10 unmarked pieces, so the name doesn't mean much to me haha As long as the quality is there! At the same time j I just had a chef order 15 griswold 8s for Xmas presents, so that's fine too lol
@@castironkev You bring up a good point with Christmas presents. Last Christmas I gathered up some BSR cornbread skillets for $15-$20 each, restored them, and gave them out as Christmas presents. A valuable present for $20, that's my kind of Christmas. They all halfway collect and none of em have an e-tank so they were excited to have one. That was the 8 slice, I have enough of the 6 slice for this year if we do that again. Bottom line, restored cast iron makes a cheap, long lasting, valuable present.

Awesome haul! Was Hertans field open when you went? They’re gated and open Wednesday at Noon, day 1 requires a ticket for entrance, brings a huge “rope drop” crowd with a lot of serious buyers. Might be a good field to consider.
Pretty sure that was closed- about 5/6 fields weren't open until Thursday. I'll look into selling there, thank you for the heads up!
