Sadly, most departments don't properly vest their dogs...they don't have the funding. There are organizations like K9's of Valor that help raise funds to donate dog vests, and they have a long list of K9's waiting. Our K9 officers deserve to be protected as much as their human counterparts.

Kitthesoulless It's called verbal commands, and sometimes you have to say something shocking like that to get through to a suspect. Hence the immediate change in tone the second the suspect was in custody. The officer was in perfect control of his emotions the entire time.
Also when the video was first posted there was a description. Not sure why they took it down. The suspects name is Lucas Ellerman. And he was a massive shit bag until he caught a 70 month prison sentence after the arrest in this video. Look it up.

I realize you lack the education and experience to understand how this works, but this situation is EXACTLY why the police have bite certified dogs. This suspect had numerous chances to comply, and was trying to dictate the situation further by bargaining over smoking a cigarette. That's not how this works sport.

Dave Brock most police dogs are military born and raised. They are meant to get in harms way they are our best friends and would sacrifice themselves in a second for our lives just like many police officers would sacrifice their lives for your yours. Also I’m kinda offended that you’ve call them dumb animals as a matter of fact these service “animals” (K-9 aka best friends) are some of the smartest and best trained animals around. Accidents will always happen, it’s happend in the past and will happen in the future. Also at the time of this writing a K-9 recently just killed one of the top isis leaders that my friend is a soldier. So please don’t refer to my officer as a dumb animal, I think he rather enjoys his career path.
spokane police are the best. made a wrong turn and got pulled over, officers helped me on directions where i needed to go. extremely reasonable and respectful, didn't even ask for id.
