The officer should have used more "defensive strikes" against the guy's head when he bit the officer and the dog. They were unreasonably gentle with this guy. He got a major break here.
That officer did a great job I think. He absolutely could and maybe should have used some more force. Like you said, defensive strikes. The officer had every variation of ground you can have in that situation to punch/elbow.

My brother was in training to be a k-9 officer. My brother got injured on the job and wasn’t able to continue on his law enforcement career along with his dog but just in that small amount time they both had in training turned into a beautiful bond for each other.

@@newbunny93 Its a bit different in this scenario because the cop couldn't remove the dog from him to be able to cuff him (granted his hand was really stuck in the collar). He could've pulled that gun earlier in the chase but didn't so obviously he had no plan to use it. Once the dog starts ripping your arm up though and you're stuck it will feel like life or death and that's when he pulled the gun. That's why the cop delayed shooting him.

my uncle was in a pursuit of a suspect and his k9 bruno was attack with a machete, this dog took 3 hits and still defended my uncle with his life. bruno will be retired in 6 months due to age and the vet suspects he will develop arthritis soon.

There is a reason I'm not in law enforcement. I'm not brave / strong / smart like these officers! I have total respect for how they handled this. And, they never escalated things. It always baffles me that police departments put their officers at risk like this by allowing them to patrol by themselves. I think every cop on duty should be required to have at least one other officer with them at all times. Theres just so many upsides to that, having someone always watching your back so you don't get surprised, keeping each other in check or taking the control of the situation if one officer goes too far, deterring a fight in the first place since the suspect would know he was about to fight 2 guys rather then one, and obviously always being there with the other officer to avoid situations like this where a lone officer ends up fighting for his life with no backup. Getting into a fight like this where you're alone and a weapon is involved has to be the worst nightmare for a police officer... Can't even imagine how it would feel to be fighting a suspect with a gun like this while knowing backup isn't gonna be there for a few more minutes.

My brother was in training to be a k-9 officer. My brother got injured on the job and wasn’t able to continue on his law enforcement career along with his dog but just in that small amount time they both had in training turned into a beautiful bond for each other.

He's armed, he's fighting against the officers and the K-9, all the while playing the victim, the injured, the incapacitated. There is high-functioning criminality here. It almost seems that his cries of "help" and "stop" and "please" is the human boy that is inside the monster asking to be saved. Imagine the many years he would have had in a criminal life if the officers did not stop him here. Imagine officers having to deal with this level of derangement and this level of hostility. Glad the officers are okay. I hope the K-9's ear heals.

@@newbunny93 Its a bit different in this scenario because the cop couldn't remove the dog from him to be able to cuff him (granted his hand was really stuck in the collar). He could've pulled that gun earlier in the chase but didn't so obviously he had no plan to use it. Once the dog starts ripping your arm up though and you're stuck it will feel like life or death and that's when he pulled the gun. That's why the cop delayed shooting him.

my uncle was in a pursuit of a suspect and his k9 bruno was attack with a machete, this dog took 3 hits and still defended my uncle with his life. bruno will be retired in 6 months due to age and the vet suspects he will develop arthritis soon.

Most departments now days are thought that the muscle used to breath, fatigue very fast under pressure and that person can stop breathing soon. In my department we are voluntold to be at the bottom of the dog pile. I could initially talk but when my abs became fatigued and the weight sank in on my chest, panic set in and you feel like your drowning. And this happened without being in a fight or foot chase. But in this case deadly force is justified so f**k him.

There is a reason I'm not in law enforcement. I'm not brave / strong / smart like these officers! I have total respect for how they handled this. And, they never escalated things. Keep in mind, the guy was a fugitive. The guy bit their fellow officer's ear, ie the dog. I can only imagine how bad they wanted to retaliate from this alone. These guys kept their composure. It always baffles me that police departments put their officers at risk like this by allowing them to patrol by themselves. I think every cop on duty should be required to have at least one other officer with them at all times. Theres just so many upsides to that, having someone always watching your back so you don't get surprised, keeping each other in check or taking the control of the situation if one officer goes too far, deterring a fight in the first place since the suspect would know he was about to fight 2 guys rather then one, and obviously always being there with the other officer to avoid situations like this where a lone officer ends up fighting for his life with no backup. Getting into a fight like this where you're alone and a weapon is involved has to be the worst nightmare for a police officer... Can't even imagine how it would feel to be fighting a suspect with a gun like this while knowing backup isn't gonna be there for a few more minutes.
When seconds matter, police are just minutes away! 👍

When I was 5 I got attacked by a full grown German Sheppard and a full grown Doberman at the same damn time. They almost killed me . This old lady heard me screaming and came out of her house with the broom over her head charging at them. They got scared and ran off. That old lady really saved my life. One dog they caught one they couldn't catch so my dad grabbed the cops night stick and a few min later he was dragging a dead dog down the road. Those were the good ol days lolll.
