    We went to Japan's legendary Tsukiji Outer Market and feasted on wagyu beef, uni and more! This is a food market you don't want to miss if you're in Tokyo because they serve the freshest seafood and street food you can find in the city. It is also easily accessible by public transportation but make sure to come early (and hungry!) because it can get very busy!

    Thank you for visiting Japan. Tsukiji Market is known for gathering high-quality ingredients from all over Japan. Since it's a wholesale market, dining here is much more budget-friendly compared to eating at a restaurant.
    I've been to Samui over 20 times, but I've never come across the same level of ingredient quality as in Japan. Samui offers a wide variety of seafood ingredients, but unfortunately, they often lack the effort to keep them fresh, which is quite disappointing. During my visits to Samui, I often go on fishing tours and use the fish I catch for making sashimi using the "Ikejime" technique.
    The "Wagyu" beef available at TOPS doesn't match the high quality found in Japan, which is quite regrettable.
    "Ikejime" is a Japanese technique for preserving the quality and flavor of fish immediately after catching it. This method involves the rapid and humane killing of the fish to minimize stress, which can negatively affect the taste and texture of the flesh.
    From japan.

    The US dollar is strong. ¥45000 is only $300 so go back and buy that knife.😂 Street food is amazing in Japan. Go to a restaurant called Jige opposite corner from Tsukiji in an alley across the buddist temple. They serve you an entire tuna center bone. The meat is aged and uou scrape the meat from between the bones. Eat it as sashimi, or they make sushi. They also serve oher seafood that is so delish. Nothing like a picture of you eating a large tuna center bone.

    I was recently two weeks in Japan and I gave the sea urchin 3 chances, but everytime I hated it 😂 My boyfriend also didn't like it.. you are right, it tastes like the ocean. But in my opinion it doesn't taste like fresh oceanwater, more like the ground of the ocean and fish innards 😂 I couldn't even get rid of the taste hours after eating the uni. I ate it at a Sushi Conveyer Belt (maybe not the best option), as a topping on unagi and at the Tsukiji fishmarket. The best one was at Tsukiji but I wouldn't order it again. Still didn't like the taste 😢

    鮑の緑のは肝です。新鮮な鮑にはお店が付けてくれます。肝に醤油をまぜてそこにつけて食べたりと食に精通された人はそんな食べ方もします。苦味の中に旨みもあり、お酒を飲む方のおつまみ的に食べたりもします。肝が好きなんだと日本で話すと、君分かってるねと言われますよ😊

    Great reactions to great street food at Tsukiji. Just some comments on your pronuciation -- I've never heard anyone pronounce "abalone" - aba lown - The Japanese guy who took your order even corrected you - abuh=low=nee -- Is yours the Canadian pronunciation? Floraʻs Japanese pronunciation isnʻt bad, but, especially in Japan, please don't perpetuate the English-speaker mispronunciation of "wagyū" as "wag -gu." "Wa" (wah) means Japanese and "gyū" (one syllable and long "u" sound) means beef.

    • @FloraandNote
      @FloraandNote  8 місяців тому

    Tsukiji Market is overrated. Everything there is twice the normal price. The only good thing is the variety that's offered in one place.
