    I’ve seen a few of these repair videos. You’re the first I’ve seen who fixed it back to normal and who didn’t break off the tip of the spring. Nice work.

    Thanks for the video. I fixed my left cupholder by attaching the end of the spring with a sewing pin. It comes out a bit slower, sometimes even gets stuck midway, but still a great difference compared to not being able to use it at all!

    0:51 - "This looks like scheiße" - what a beautiful summary. Made my day.
    Thanks for the video, managed to take the trim off without breaking anything, which in case of my E91 is quite unusual.
    Cup holder itself still says "Nah, f**k you" for no apparent reason so a trip to scrapyard it is.

      Indeed it is, I studied German in school, but at this point remember just a couple of words))
      Yea, I usually keep a box of pins near me when I do some work with the trim, after 10+ years it's getting really fragile, almost like glass lol.
      Thank you for the comment! those cup holders are a nightmare.

    Hey nice video- had figure it all out prior- but didn't see the latch point. After using zip tie - confirmed what you said about not quite as smooth- so used a 1/8" tie instead- works great- Thanks for the assist!

    Hope you see this message, I’m a little late to the party. Your video title says you’ll talk about it being stuck open. I’m a 72-year-old woman and took it out of the dashboard no problem. I assume it’s that toggle thingy on the outside Which should snap to one side and keep it held in. The spring is fine in mine but you didn’t say what to do if the left cupholder is stuck out. I can push it back in, but it won’t stay there. It just pops out again. When I took it out of the dashboard that toggle is missing completely, as you know, there’s a big space it can fall down into and I could not see it down there. Any idea of how to repair that or fake something or am I just gonna have to buy a new cupholder? Thanks!!

    • @Makhnovets
      @Makhnovets  22 дні тому

      At this stage if you are missing the toggle at the back, there nothing you can do, and you will have to buy a new one, the reason the title say stuck open it because the right cup holder wasn’t closing at all on my car, and it only needed to push couple of pins back but if there no locking toggle on it there nothing i can help. Thank you for the comment and good luck with further repair!

    Nice video, quick question, mine was not working, i opened it and Spring was gone, there was no spring in it, probably previous owner tried to fix it. so can you please help what to do if there is no spring. thank you

    • @Makhnovets
      @Makhnovets  Рік тому +1

      if it’s good condition, go to junk yard, there plenty of 90’s, which is gonna be the cheapest option, otherwise you need to buy a new cup holder which is $50-120 on amazon or fcp.
      Good luck and thank you for the comment!

      Yeah, lot of times it’s a dirt or stick spilled drink that blocking the movement, sometimes it’s pieces of broken plastic inside, and when you shake it it starts working again.

    From this video, we can see that how stupid design on the cup holder done by BMW, where a metal spring tape hold by a tiny plastic stub which is very easy to be cut off.
