The standards in my office are so bad now. We’ve got vans with special deliveries from the night before, random letters under frames or in red post bags in vans. When I started 5 years ago every single letter was accounted for.
We do need a decent payrise, I just don't trust this union to get us one. It's ok saying do more overtime to earn more money but I have a young family and I'm getting to old to work 50 hours a week. I work hard all week and deserve a decent wage for doing my job
I've been working for parcel force for 9 years, when I started we where getting paid £4 over minimum wage now it's less than a pound. I'm living day to day I need money in my wage packet, can't see my future here working for what is basically a minimum wage company. The pressure put on me everyday to deliver more and more is not worth it. I could work in a local shop for about the same money and a lot less stress
Just remember, Royal Mail isn't all about delivery offices and postmen on delivery. There are other postie sectors that are equally important that help run the company.
Another video where they claim to be our saviours and exclaim "look at the great deal we've secured for you all". Meanwhile in the real world members are currently firefighting every day up and down the country in every workplace against the horrendous deal you agreed last time. Until members see real change for the better in the workplace then these videos are all just hot air.
With all the items discussed in this briefing the one thing that isn’t mentioned and I get constantly asked when confronted by the general public right up to the entrance (literally) of the mail centre doors on a daily basis is “why is the callers office only open two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon” and I have no sensible reason to give them because there isn’t any reason? this was Royal Mails trump card you could come down and collect your items basically whatever you need to!
Ever heard the saying that if it sounds too good to be true it usually is? I hope this takeover is a good one but actions speak louder than words so time will tell........but I'm not especially hopeful.
Im on 35 hrs and was told by our DOM that i wasn't allowed to put in for a full time duty that came up as they had too many full time staff. Been working for RM for 13 years and still can't get a full time duty.
All that sounds good but we are just about to have a new revision put it, the worse I've seen in my 25 years with single slots to fit in mail and d2ds. Things are bad now and this will make things worse and make working very stressful. Can we put a stop to all these stupid 2.0 revisions!!???
Stevenage were gonna introduce this after trials at a local office…Royston. After 18 months it’s been knocked on the head coz it doesn’t work..we all knew it but you know good old RAW MALL.. they know better especially those who have never delivered a letter in their f…..g lives 🤬
So if your not on a variational contract but you’ve worked full time hours for over 5 years even tho your on a part time contract you won’t be one of the 11,000 because you never got the variational contract ?
Few things stood out in that podcast; “A strong Union that doesn’t run aways from anything”. That’s not strictly correct; just look back at the dispute and the surrender agreement that included 100’s of Reps battered, suspended or dismissed and all they got was; it’s ok, just go back to work and behave. You did run away and allowed Royal Mail to dictate the dispute end, 1000’s of good honest OPG’s left the business and 1000’s left the CWU. The other point made over and over; “we’re going to help grow the business”, but you didn’t say how and now employees are believing that they cannot grow the business at the current days and hours, so does Sunday come into play? As someone else commented; it all sounds too good to be true, however we have no choice but trust that you are honest enough to tell all the truths and do not detriment our working conditions anymore than they are now.
CWU, the enhancing of contract from part time to full time contract, will EP Group do it in Mail Centres also ? considering work goes to those 2 Super Hubs and also changes is going to happen for USO.
so i am currently 32 hours part time being made up to 37 hours full time for the xmas period. come january 1st i will be made permanent 37 hours full time? manager claims to know nothing of this?
Never mind the nonsense I'd like to know if we are getting a pay rise especially as you won't get new starters if they realise we only getting just above the minimum wage not good
Dpr 8 hours+ a day, in all the traffic/weather and still expect you to get all your parcels out. We need a raise. New entrants dont earn enough for what we do. They take 30 mins a day for a non paid break but we dont get the break as we dont get a chance to even stop and have one. Rm owe people so much money because of this. We was told in a meeting its not right and we will be getting the money back, it was bs no-one seen any of it. Feels like they are literally stealing off the dpr new entrants through it. 1:35pm to 7:55pm is the time they get me to work. my contract says 2pm till 8pm 😂 plus they give us parcels till gone 9:00pm so we dont get a break but they still take it out of our wages. Im looking elsewhere.

CWU, EP Group after the takeover they will also get everyday £1million loss ( quoting from IDS the present owner as according to them they are making loss ) and debt from previous owner- with the imminent USO changes there will be potentially redundancies with VR payment to as many numbers, will EP Group be in a financially healthy enough to give full time contract to so many part timers. In Mail Centres due to technology and automation they require less manual manpower hence most probably they will prefer to have part timers, Mail Centres building are half empty, flat and letters sorting machines they don’t run to their full capacity sometimes and overall Mail Centres are busy at certain times, USO might also effect Mail Centres also in terms of having less staff.
I did watch, but maybe i missed it...i saw where they discussed the the trials , but they vaguely touched on workload..... maybe you can point out what minute it's on? @anonanon1791
With regards to balancing the contracts between new starters, will there still be a two tier system where people recruited within the last year or so have to work Sundays?
An actual direction versus the pathetic shareholder selloff/suckoff? Royal Mail should not be failing (which it is). The amount of money to be made is huge.
Need to raise pay to at least £15 an hour, we have lost a lot of our best staff because pay is so low now.
