I love home canned apple pie filling, and it looks so pretty! Just like the cook! Love ya!
Thank you sister! Love ya too!
You are the first person I’ve seen that actually blanches the apples! I read that’s an important step to help keep them firm. I think it also helps with the swelling in the jar. I blew a lid when I tried skipping that step. Thanks for sharing the video! Filling looks beautiful!
Thank you!
They look beautiful. I made a few jars a few weeks ago, also. Love your apron, also. Beautiful print. Bless you Vicki. God is Good..
Thank you! Yes, He is good, all the time!
I love that video learned something new today, never to old to learn...Thank you & God Bless
Who needs pie crust???? Nom nom nom 😋
🤗
I came here from Ms Lori's channel (Whippoorwill Holler) and I am glad I did...looks so good, I could almost taste it....God bless Ms Vickie..
Welcome, and God bless!
Amazing thank you very much
Your filling looks so good ✨✨🎄
Clear gel always makes things expand in the jar. This will be nice to have on your shelf.
Thank you very much for sharing
Hi Vickie, These apples look wonderful! And thank you for the canning tutorial. You always do such a lovely job and make everything look SO pretty! Lori is right...just as pretty as you!! Merry Christmas and a very Happy, Healthy, and Blessed New Year! Love, Mary
Thank you so much for the kind words Mary! Merry Christmas and all of the same wishes to you! Love you!
Love that bowl sister! I have that same cookbook🤗. It’s a good one! You’re wearing my favorite apron top too. Great video full of wisdom. Thank you for sharing. God’s blessings to you ❤️
Thank you, and God Bless!
What is the name of that cookbook or link?
Brenda Blair Amish Home Canning Cookbook by Georgia Varosa. You can click on Vickies Amazon link and search for it there. If you buy through her link it helps her at no cost to you😀
I made this same recipe today, but I wasn't thinking and added the lemon juice when I added the juice, I didn't blanch my apples, and like you I didn't have enough to finish the 7th quart so I added more apples, hopefully it will turn out alright.
Merry Christmas🎄🎅💋
thanks so much for your video! Can you please tell me what the steamer pot and large stainless contour pot are that you are using? They are perfect! thank you!
You are the second canner who used that recipe who mentioned the same problem with the head space. Definitely need to leave 1 and a half-2 inches of head space to avoid the leakage during processing.
As I was watching I was telling you leave at least another half inch head space that recipe tends to swell lol .... ask me how I know lol. Of course you couldn't hear me and this wasn't live lol Thank you for all you do. Happy Holidays.
It’s funny, because I have made this same recipe before, and it worked out fine. The recipe in the Amish Canning book called for Clear Jel, but next time I will know to leave more head space. Thanks for watching!
I for got the cook.book. Have looked everywhere for it to. Sandy Blosser
Oh wow this looks great:) I was at Apple Hill in Placer Hill about 3 weeks ago and bought a hug box of apples and I Made applesauce and apple butter:) It was very busy there for a Thursday . Can I ask where are you located ? I’m up in the Chico area:) oh yes I also bought a box of pears and I canned them:) I love making jams but now I’m finding I love canning other things too:) thanks for sharing:)
I probably missed you by a week! I went on October 1st (a Thursday). I bought a box of Mutsu apples, and a box of Bartlett Pears, both seconds. I am Northeast of Reno, so it is definitely a day trip to go there!
love it. can you use less sugar? I am a diabetic. Yes, I know now suppose to eat stuff like this, but ya only live once lol. I don't care for really sweet tasting things anyway, but omg !!! this looks so so yummy
I haven’t tried reducing sugar. I am sure you can reduce it some, but you do need it for preserving.
Dadburn beavers got our apple trees and dragged them to the creek.
Where did you get that bowl??? I love it....i also love whippoorwill holler channel.she has a bunch of bowls and ladles I just love to lol
I bought that one at Lehman’s.
Could you make this jar and seal it with the foodsaver wide mouth jar thing that sucks out air? Would it go bad being in the pantry by doing this and using the foodsaver? I’ve never canned and just trying to find ways to use the foodsaver thing on one of your other videos :)
Made this last night and mine seeped too. Today they appear to be sealed.?? Did yours keep and stay sealed?
Is clear jel the same as sure jel?
No, clear jel is a modified food starch for thickening. Sure Jel is pectin to use with fruit.
Where did you get the bowl. I have try to get both but can't find them .Sandy Blosser
I bought that online from Lehman’s.
love you
Is there any reason for not using fruit pectin as a thickener?? Thank you!
I’m not sure, I haven’t tried. The recipes usually call for flour or cornstarch, but neither one holds up well in the jar.
@@VickiesCountryHome Thank you for answering me :) I did some research and found out that fruit pectin behaves differently than the clear gel. So, I found clear gel on line and ordered some.
