Well this photographer triied to shoot a vlog today using my phone. So I stood like an idiot at the beach talking to myself about composition, and nailed it.....until I discovered that the memory card on my single memory card camera was at home, in the card reader....I went and had pizza instead. I am better quallified for that.
Len... makes sense. It's not plural. It's just a single Len.
Then plural would be lenes.
And of course, the singular of lenses is "lense".

This one time I saw someone trying to sell a lens, showing like 2 photos of the side and 7 photos of the back of the lens, ZERO photos of the front. I left a comment asking for a photo of the front and the seller said "what is there to see at the front of the lens?"
I wonder if he ever managed to sell it.
He has a point in a way. It has to be pretty rough to actually affect the lens much, while any damage to the rear element or mount will make a giant impact.

Nobody has the Fuji X100VI. B&H, Adorama, Allen's, Camera Canada. It's back-ordered everywhere. "Who would pay over retail for a used one?" Probably lots of folks (not me, though).
Wife's nephew is an addict and trying to sell a couple of older cameras. That's probably what some of these are. By the way, the fire alarm really adds to the ambiance. I have heard of Sony Len. He seems cool.

This thang (phenomenon) has been noticed by me. Ten years ago I bought a small pile of used Canon and Nikon pointenshoots. At the time they cost between $10 and $25 each. The EXACT camera models on ebay today command prices ten to twenty times - or even more - than I paid long ago. They're not great cameras. As you mentioned, my last couple of phones have had better cameras. Whut

First, the dedication to complete video despite the fire alarms is the true commitment I come here for. Well, that and the sarcasm/honesty.
The worst thing about the Fuji cult is all the other videos popping up, “CHEAPER X100 alternatives” that are driving up the prices of cheap MFT cameras. You could get a good working GX85, just a few months ago, for like 250 body only. Now they’re 400-500 and haven’t got any better with age. All small cameras that companies have spent the last year saying aren’t worth making have skyrocketed why cameras like the X-H1, a good Fuji body for stills with even a bit of ibis, sits at 650 somehow. They haven’t dropped, but bodies like the early X-T’s have massively inflated. The X-E3 I got brand new from adorama during last Black Friday for 400 USD is going for like 800 bucks plus used.
I say, ride the wave. When good cameras are going cheaply, and you can use them, that's when you strike. You might be able to make a profitable trade with your old camera that everybody wants this week.

I'm sold my Olympus OMD E-M5 to some sucker for $4,000 Now I have the money to buy the OM Systems OM 1ii and the OM 12-40mm f2.8 and I'm still shooting on dinky little sensor. Life is hard sometimes. Tbh, most people don’t do market research. They just open the marketplace or eBay and buy whichever camera they think it’s ok for them and suits their budget. Yet, if they did a simple Google search, they’ll discover that they’re getting scammed. But yeah, those people are the main target of these sellers.

There's a huge difference between rare because it's old and no one got rid of theirs because it's so good or rare because they're all in the landfill cause they suck.
The Sigma 16mm F1.4 for $400 is for Canon mount. Read every line of that ad to see it. $400 is reasonable as it is relatively new lens in market.
What I looked for in a used camera, someone that bought it, used it for a little while, decided they didn't want it or needed it. 100 dollars camera and lens, 5 years ago. Now, the point and shoot used are more than that. It's just a beginner micro 4/3 camera, but it works for me just fine. I would never buy a used camera from a photographer, Sutter count would be crazy high.
I used to love getting used stuff on eby etc but it has been ruined completely by price gouging idiots who just indiscriminantly buy everything and then price gouge. Plus all the scammers now and the sales tax and eby going along with all the scammers, so the selling part is also ruined.
It costs 25 - 30% in fees to sell on Ebay, that's why the sellers are raising their prices so much.

The used camera market in Ontario is nuts these days. Everyone asking crazy high prices but lowballs like crazy if you dare post something for a reasonable price. Also a lot of offers to trade for random things that I can only assume are stolen.

I feel good about myself, I sold some good cheap cymbals cheaper than I bought them for. In Sth Australia we have a half price minimum... then if you want to sell it you halve it again and say firm. Spending money on old tech... not advisable, unless you can fix it yourself.

In my life I have seen various old tech crap go suddenly up in used market price because of some weird nostalgia. I can understand the price of vintage synthesizers, but old PC, gaming consoles, camcorders and point and shoots make no freaking sense

I recently bought a Canon Ixus 100IS (PowerShot SD780) at a thrift store for ~$10, surprisingly good images when you shoot RAW using a firmware hack.

Have you tried the Tamron 28-200 for e mount? I know superzooms aren’t great, but neither is changing lenses on the beach. Sand gets everywhere, including on the sensor.

in my local ads there's about 25 canon ef L 100mm 2,8 macro lens for sell and they are all for sell over 800$ even if the market is saturated and the price new is now less than 1000$ plus taxes couple 100$ more and you get a new one and a couple of $$$ you get the rf version.
people don't undestand that if there's 25 of the same thing for sale the prices are supposed to go down at some point. ads were reposted and have been for at least 6 months and they only took 50$ off. when i see ads for toronto area the prices are more like they should than in Quebec

When I bought my Z 180-600 at the beginning of the month I saw that the resale value of my Nikkor 200-500/5.6E has hit rock bottom, cried a lot and then sold it on Ebay for 500 bucks.

My philosophy of point and shoot purchasing is: Is it super cheap? And sometimes it can be. Last summer I bought two Fujifilm P&S's for three bucks. One needed a battery, so my end cost was two for ten bucks. A week ago I found a Sony WX300 for 25 bucks. Not to long ago I nabbed a Canon Elph for $7. THAT is how you buy point and shoots.
What do you use them for?
This and that. Personal videos, snapshots, street photos, landscapes. I don't like shooting with a phone. Slip one in the pocket and I'm good to go.

Generally speaking you're right, absolutely, but as someone who has been dumb enough to buy a few old CCD cameras (though not at the prices many of them demand today), they *do* offer unique rendering that is fun to work with. It can be fun to collect a few of these because they're cool, whatever. The YT trend of telling people that an old digicam is like 'an infinite roll of film' is bullshit though. If you *truly do* want vintage rendering, it's called using a v i n t a g e l e n s; that will have a greater impact than any sensor.

I saw your video few days ago talking about smartphones you are thinking of getting. I cant find it now, so I will just comment here, who cares.
So you talked about Xiaomi and Vivo. I dont think you would like Vivo, its like AI phone, oversharpened, beauty effects... 14 Ultra is nice, main cam is great, telephoto lenses could be sharper, there is log video but i dont know how editable it is. Smartphones made great progress in photo, Oppo Find x7 Ultra is amazing, the best cam for photos, Video is also very natural but nothing to write home about (no precious slow-mo). Nubia z60 Ultra has bold lens choice (probably ahead of time, all smartphones will do that in couple years). I think it would be great to do smartphone videos too, like compare them for vlog videos with mirrorless...
P.S. this video I am commenting on is super funny, these videos brighten my days, and they can get pretty dark lately, so it is very much needed. Theory of rare and vintage having reason to be that is hilarious.
The Fuji X100V and VI is overhyped and overpriced. Having said that in Australia stock is low at offical rrp. The shops that do have it in stock are selling for a few hundred more than rrp.
I bought a Canon PowerShot ELPH 160 compact point and shoot camera complete with battery and charger from a Value Village thrift store for $7 Canadian last month.
Maybe I should've bought one off eBay instead because, checking sold prices, I could have paid upwards of $150 Canadian and more, not including shipping from the United States, just for the privilege of owning one of the most plasticky compact point and shoot digital cameras that Canon ever made. But it seems older digicams are hip again so people are really paying twenty to thirty times (or even higher) the thrift store price for what is quite honestly a subpar camera even by point and shoot standards? I mean, the photo quality is fine for the price I paid but I barely paid anything for it compared to what it's selling for on eBay now.

I didn't see the brand section, he should have mentioned it in the ad. It wasn't RF mount, those didn't exist until today.

The prices for compact cameras is going up because they aren't making any new ones. Demand is still there, but they won't supply our tiny camera habit.
We need an RX100VIII, G7XIV, fuck it bring back the Nikon 1 even. OM need to put down the tuna and release a Pen F with PDAF. Sony need to bring back the RX1. Canon should be making the Canon Q which is just a digital QL 17. Nikon could be out making us a digital knock of of the Contax G and T since they're going retro style now too.
We've had half a decade of master of none hybrid cameras, and then half a decade of sports and wildlife cameras. It's time for the street, travel, doc, and snap market to get something again.
The Fuji x100 series is a trap to take money away from people who don't understand photography.

@@Turnip_ You'll want a camera with an interchangeable lens and autofocusing that works. I say Sony A6xxx series. If you're after the Fuji film sims, you can add them in post. Exposure X7 has Fuji film sims presets for any camera.

There are times I'd rather have an eight megapixel point and shoot than use my phone. A phone is thin and hard to hold with one hand. You can drop it and crack the screen. Then you'll be sorry! You can't even hold it like it's a camera without getting your finger in the shot. If it gets a job done it's a good camera. Don't get me started on camcorders. I'll send Marcupix after you! LOL!
