Hi, Did You Know Gaming fans. I created the video you're watching. You can see more Unseen64 on my channel. If you have any questions about the video or Unseen64 stuff in general, I would be more than happy to help! :)
I still can't get past why such a talented dev team like Factor 5 could go under just like that... They had such a good working relationship with Nintendo, why didn't they like, save them and make them a 2nd party dev? Imagine if they could work on the next Metroid game? It would be amazing!
Factor 5 still exists, only their American studio was closed. they had a presence at GamesCom this year, they now got all their important IP's back, stuff made by Factor 5 r by ppl at Factor 5. such as Turrican, Giana Sisters and are planning a comeback. I think they want to do some collections first and maybe develop new games soon
Kevboard Arts So I hope! If Factor 5 can get together with Manfred Trenz and develop a brand new Turrican game (hopefully for the NX) then I'd certainly be VERY happy!
Ruko Michiharu Rare was a 2nd party developer and they were bought out. I really don't think Nintendo would make their games good because they would just publish them.
RedCalx Z They would make their own games good, they're a very talented team after all, but they wouldn't have gone under had someone bought the company (or at least the american division of the company) and due to their good relationship with Nintendo I think that they'd be the best candidates...
If you liked the Dirty Harry segment, there is plenty more where that came from on my channel, including a video on a cancelled Metallica game that was similar to Twisted Metal by the very same developer Climax. Thanks for the shoutout, and great job as always Liam.
That series gets mrore sales in both japan and america! while metroid barely even manages to do so in the states and that's for the 3d titles with the 2d ones fairing even less! im not saying star fox ranks in big numbers but it does do better then metroid.
Factor 5 still exists guys... their american studio was closed but the german one is still there. they actually are planning a comeback of sorts.they got back basically all of their IP's such as Turrican and stuff they worked on with other studios such as Giana Sisters
I still think a lot of these ideas have potential to be a good game Daredevil, Elektra, Dirty Harry Everything you need is right there. It just needs someone to do it justice.
Wouldn't be hard at all. Marvel holds all of the merchandising rights for all of its characters which includes videogames. That's why they could put out the Ultimate Alliance games.
One game series I would add to the list is San Francisco Rush. That game series was amazing on consoles and arcade machines! I really really wish the series would come back. My personal favorite of the SF Rush series is SF Rush 2049. The game's car physics were really fun and each track had a ton of unique shortcuts and hidden secrets! I really wish the series would come back. There was another Rush game that came out during the PS2 games called LA Rush, but the game was so bad I'd be glad to not ever mention it again.
True, but it still isn't the same. I love the futuristic atmosphere of SFR2048. Because of the futuristic design they had a ton of room to make the most awesome tracks in a game I have ever seen. This game has the best track designs I have yet to see in any other racing game. Also the futuristic vehicles were really awesome. Futuristic remixes of old classic 80s and 90s cars are so awesome.
Leinad link It was fun it was my second game on the console but mine suffered from a glitch that would fail the mission in like 4mins so I never got back to it but it was always fun to try and get faster and faster to the point it would have only took me most likely 5mins to complete it
+Leinad link Apparently the game originally had not-tight-enough-motion controls and some graphical bugs, but they patched it so you can use analog controls now, which feels way better. I've heard it's good now!
The sixaxis controls were not very good... i still enjoyed it and replay it when they patched a more traditional control shceme, must say i still enjoy it today! (but i appear to be in the minority though ) Going through the battlefield killing other flying troops and being able to just go to the ground and Destroy enemy infantry whenever i wanted felt pretty awsome
One of the few problems I had with Nintendo Official Magazine was that near the end of it's run they went from really great free gifts to just massive 2-sided posters every issue..
I remember playing Lair when it came out and I recall how quickly you could beat that game, In fact it felt more like a proof of concept than a proper full game. The Sixaxis controls weren't that bad either and after you beat the game you unlocked a commentary track you could turn on and listen to the factor 5 guys talk about Lair. Honestly if it was a Dragonlance game it would have been a pretty radical one at that.
"6 Abandoned Games From Nintendo, Marvel, EA, FOX, Warner Bros. & Factor 5" Or as I like to call it "What the hell happened to that game I read about in Game Informer?"
Did you know? Apparently Black was at one point planned to have fully destructable environments but the developers chose to go against it because they thought the player might block the way to the level exit (which I find to be a strange reason to cancel a feature but eh...)
Lair was originally going to be a Dragonlance game? That would have been an interesting concept to explore if they were able to pursue the idea even further.
It was more Fox who were needing the Daredevil movie to succeed, Marvel already had Spider-man. But I can see why Marvel would be less interested in a game on the license after the movie's failure.
The worst stories are of games that have legitimately interesting ideas and concepts. I would play a game like the Dirty Harry one described here regardless of license.
this is a great video, and in fact, some of these games CAN come back. with the widely success of the Daredevil series, that would make a great game. And the Dirty Harry game could either be a R☆ like L.A. Noir, or even a TellTale series game.
I always wonder what happened to the Advance Wars games, they had 3 for the Gameboy's and a kinda spin off for the wii but we haven't had anything new from them in years, I still hold hope we get another handheld advance wars
that brief shot of Project H.A.M.M.E.R. made me sad....I really wanted that game, but it got canceled :( Maybe Platinum can revive it someday for Switch....
What pisses me off is that Wizards is holding on to the copyright of Dungeons and Dragons and not doing anything with it. Then 4e come out and not a single electronic game has come out based on that system, a system which is a lot better as a video game then 3e and 3.5e, that we have plenty of games for like Balder's Gate and Icewind Dale.
I actually really friggn like the plan they had for the Dirty Harry game, especially the "force system" idea. One of my biggest complaints for open-world games is once you learn how to obtain the strongest items you can become way too overpowered early; while that can be fun, it loses its luster very quickly. Also, usually there are missions such as "keep this guy alive" in the earlier levels, so when you have an AK47 and you're trying to not shoot your buddy in a small room where everyone is using handguns it can be pretty annoying. From what it sounds like, this system still puts the pacing of how extreme the fights are into the player's hands, but without giving them too much power too early and making the action stale. As the player, you can take it slower and be tactical to get through the situation without wasting resources, or you could just say "fuck it" and go in guns ablaze like the Gunzerker from Borderlands 2, but you will be met with usually greater force back and you still need to be smart about your choices.
you know? i always feel that kid icarus uprising feels more like a starfox game that of a complete original game, and you know what? i would mind if they make starfox like that.
2:44 what the hell? Mentioning their work on NFS as their main feat before saying "Eh, and also they did Burnout"? I thought they're known for Burnout first, and ruining NFS second.
how are you getting 5? there was 6 mad max, electra, dirty harry, star fox, command and conquer, and dungeon and dragons i think you guys gotta go count them again..
Then there's all that talk about making the game that finally closes the storyline gap between Megaman and X. Still haven't seen anything epic to conclude the original Megaman story.
Video games is an extremely risky career, you can have a bunch of great games to your name and think you have a steady job, but at any time your publishing company can give you a peice of shit and fuck you over just like that at no fault to you
Huh. Thought it would go the opposite. Something as gargantuan as Star Wars sounds like it would logically cost a fortune to acquire, while something niche and virtually dead to the mainstream like Dungeons and Dragons would be all like "SOMEONE MAKE A THING WITH THIS LICENSE... PLEASE!?"
one game that make me really pissed off because of its cancellation is Bourne game by Starbreeze and EA. Imagine the maker of The Darkness and Chronicle of Riddick making an FPS Bourne game. Cursed you EA for cancelled that game and told Starbreeze to made Syndicate instead
Actually Liam did a video on his channel where there was an attempt at a darker and serious Kid Icarus that would ditch Pit's Brawl design, but it was cancelled.
It's always unfortunate to see games go through so much trouble with development, only to be ultimately cancelled.
Nana-Kyoto wtf is your pic
wtf is YOUR pic??
Joseph Joestar from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
Lotus Prince
why isn't it Speedwagon then if he's best waifu?
Petroleumish
Don't look at me - it's not my profile pic.
Who else wishes that Dirty Harry game had been made? That concept sounds awesome!
Hi, Did You Know Gaming fans. I created the video you're watching. You can see more Unseen64 on my channel. If you have any questions about the video or Unseen64 stuff in general, I would be more than happy to help! :)
I always enjoy these kind of videos. Thank you for creating it ^_^
+ASMR Gaming News same:)
thank you!
ASMR Gaming News I'm really glad you do enjoy them!
I enjoyed your videos your one of my favorite channels

That Daredevil game looked awesome, I wish a daredevil game does come out some day.
If you liked the Dirty Harry segment, there is plenty more where that came from on my channel, including a video on a cancelled Metallica game that was similar to Twisted Metal by the very same developer Climax. Thanks for the shoutout, and great job as always Liam.
Interesting?
A number of these can't even be called a concept. More like, "Someone once mentioned they might like to make a game based on X Ip."
why does starfox get more love than a proper 2d Metroid again?
2d Metroid has seen some success on Nintendo's handhelds
That series gets mrore sales in both japan and america! while metroid barely even manages to do so in the states and that's for the 3d titles with the 2d ones fairing even less!
im not saying star fox ranks in big numbers but it does do better then metroid.
Seriously, the last good 2D Metroid game was over a decade ago, WE NEED MORE
Monarchsub X they wouldn't know because the last one was Fusion
I think you mean Zero Mission was the last 2D Metroid.
Factor 5 still exists guys... their american studio was closed but the german one is still there. they actually are planning a comeback of sorts.they got back basically all of their IP's such as Turrican and stuff they worked on with other studios such as Giana Sisters
Gernamy doesn't make good games
monkeycaboose that's not true you stereotyping jerk
SteamPunk Bitch get your simulator games outta here son.
monkeycaboose dayum are you against germany like *fuck the what*
SteamPunk You know its fuuckin true
An amazing video as always. Huge fan of your work pre-Project Falcon Punch days as well as your other Unseen64 videos. Keep up the good work!
Oh yeah, Lair. I always forget that Sixaxis was a thing.
It was fidgety as hell too. Then again, I hate motion controls, I find them to usually be unreliable or that the game coded the controls poorly.
Sixaxis worked great in Flower.
I didn't know the Official Nintendo Magazine finished, such a shame two great magazines like NGamer and ONM gone, such memories.
I still think a lot of these ideas have potential to be a good game
Daredevil, Elektra, Dirty Harry
Everything you need is right there. It just needs someone to do it justice.

VideoGuy In a way SFR did come back, in the form of Burnout.
Futuristic remixes of old classic 80s and 90s cars are so awesome.
damn.. a Dragonlance game woulda been sick.
I couldn't agree more! :D
I almost don't even want to watch this, because it'll make me wish these games existed.
What a brutal industry. Factor 5 made great games for years. They only had one commercial failure and now they are just gone. I miss that studio.
Ah, tiberium. It's not your fault, it's EA's.
The Steel Legionnaire
A Mad Max combat racing game made by Criterion?
SIGN ME THE FUCK UP.
Did You Know Gaming rocks! Thank you for all the fantastic videos! ^_^
Lair looks so cool! How could it fail? Was it so bad? I see it has a lot of potential.
Leinad link
The sixaxis control.
Leinad link It was fun it was my second game on the console but mine suffered from a glitch that would fail the mission in like 4mins so I never got back to it but it was always fun to try and get faster and faster to the point it would have only took me most likely 5mins to complete it
WH250398 MOTION CONTROLS!! THEY RUIN EVERYTHING!!
+Leinad link Apparently the game originally had not-tight-enough-motion controls and some graphical bugs, but they patched it so you can use analog controls now, which feels way better. I've heard it's good now!

That Dirty Harry game looks like a combination of True Crime and LA Noir but more badass because Clint Eastwood.
this guy never stops talking about factor 5 studios
If that Dirty Harry game were ever made; may God help whatever developer gets stuck with it.
One of the few problems I had with Nintendo Official Magazine was that near the end of it's run they went from really great free gifts to just massive 2-sided posters every issue..
Love these videos! Bummer stories but interesting nonetheless
I remember playing Lair when it came out and I recall how quickly you could beat that game, In fact it felt more like a proof of concept than a proper full game. Honestly if it was a Dragonlance game it would have been a pretty radical one at that.
I love how Unseen64 pronounces "Factor 5".
You should do 6 games abandoned by Nintendo, SEGA, Sony, Microsoft, Rareware and Ubisoft.
"6 Abandoned Games From Nintendo, Marvel, EA, FOX, Warner Bros. & Factor 5" Or as I like to call it "What the hell happened to that game I read about in Game Informer?"
Aw, man. I loved Factor 5's Rogue Squadron games. I would love to see more flight simulator/action games.
6:46 did you see it?
that's right, it means the NX is being announced in a week!
...
idk why I do these things...
AshnSilvercorp nice man
Imperial Pigeon and it happened... my reign of terror must be ended...
I loved C&C Renegade!
EVERY VIDEO IS ABOUT FACTOR 5
6 out of the 25 I've done are about Factor 5... so no lol
Liam Robertson The Unseen64 Guy I know dude I watch all your videos but you gotta let me joke around
Haha okay
I remember wishing SO hard that Lair would turn out to be good :'(
You should do a video about The Force Unleashed 3
Did you know?
Apparently Black was at one point planned to have fully destructable environments but the developers chose to go against it because they thought the player might block the way to the level exit (which I find to be a strange reason to cancel a feature but eh...)
Lair was originally going to be a Dragonlance game? That would have been an interesting concept to explore if they were able to pursue the idea even further.
I remember there was going to be a new Goemon game on the PS2. I never really found out what happened to it.
Thanks Liam
It was more Fox who were needing the Daredevil movie to succeed, Marvel already had Spider-man. But I can see why Marvel would be less interested in a game on the license after the movie's failure.
Official Nintendo Magazine ended? Damn I remember buying that magazine every month a few years back.
oh man, a Dirty Harry Game would be Awesome
I hope they do make a Daredevil game soon since the Netflix series is successful.
The worst stories are of games that have legitimately interesting ideas and concepts. I would play a game like the Dirty Harry one described here regardless of license.

Brazil still has an official Nintendo magazine.
when hes talking about command and Conquer renegade does he say "part fps, part first person shooter"?
Part RTS.
No, he says 'Part FPS, part third person shooter'.
Wow LAIR looks good. Why have i never seen it before?
Because it was a big flop on launch as it used the PS3's motion controls crippling the game to insane levels causing everyone to hate it
you know what we haven't seen? a new metroid
Lair could've been awesome....Damn it. Not enough games involving playing as Dragons. Not enough dragons.
Always cool to see what could have been, but never was
I always wonder what happened to the Advance Wars games, they had 3 for the Gameboy's and a kinda spin off for the wii but we haven't had anything new from them in years, I still hold hope we get another handheld advance wars
I remember watching the Dirty Harry CGI trailer on G4 back in the day.
I love the intro
Ok, honestly, I'd love to see what Sakurai could do with Star Fox...
Don't forget Metroid and Paper Mario.
that brief shot of Project H.A.M.M.E.R. made me sad....I really wanted that game, but it got canceled :( Maybe Platinum can revive it someday for Switch....
Ah, I miss Official Nintendo Magazine...
Man, Factor 5 could NOT catch a break, could they?
What pisses me off is that Wizards is holding on to the copyright of Dungeons and Dragons and not doing anything with it. Then 4e come out and not a single electronic game has come out based on that system, a system which is a lot better as a video game then 3e and 3.5e, that we have plenty of games for like Balder's Gate and Icewind Dale.
Well Nintendo may have not started it, but they certainly abandoned the very idea of making a fourth Golden Sun game, which is a shame.
I actually really friggn like the plan they had for the Dirty Harry game, especially the "force system" idea. One of my biggest complaints for open-world games is once you learn how to obtain the strongest items you can become way too overpowered early; while that can be fun, it loses its luster very quickly. nintendo once asked a game studio (i forget who) to make an f-zero game for wii u but that studio said they were busy with another racing game
Thomas Davis no that's not what i'm talking about
SmashLiXs Criterion
Thomas Davis they were busy with another racing game
Thomas Davis www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/06/exclusive_we_almost_got_a_wii_u_f-zero_created_by_burnout_studio_criterion?1
Black was heavily underrated
Anyone else feel ill watching that Lair footage? My god, what a hideous game!
The Dirty Harry game sounded quite nice :(
Lair was actually a pretty good game.
lol nintendo Abandoned a lot of games, it's well documented that they don't stick with third party devs
Suh dudes and dudetts. Ded meems are the best.
R.I.P Harambe
Oscklen "Suh dudes and dudettes. Ded..." is the worst part. He can't even be bothered to spell slang correctly. Goddamn people are lazy.
this is the earliest i've been.
Lair looks pretty fuckin fun
Command and conquer Renegade's Campaign was fucking awesome played it so many times as a kid.
Did you know gaming on Rocket League?
3:33 "Part FPS, Part First Person Shoot"........(Facepalm)
Nah he said part FPS, part third person shooter. pretty close tho. :p
He said third. His accent isn't THAT hard to hear.
you know? i always feel that kid icarus uprising feels more like a starfox game that of a complete original game, and you know what? i would mind if they make starfox like that.
Well, if you want to play that Dirty Hairy game, play LA Noire. Pretty damn close to what was described.
C&C renegade was my childhood
Wow I totally forgot about DragonLance.
Nintendo's official mag discontinued? I used to love them. I still have the hyrule warriors one in mint condition lol
Do an episode on Warcraft Adventures.
You missed the cancelled Kid Icarus game for Wii.
that mad max game would have been good burnout and mad max would be amazing
I can't understand a single word from this guy.
Arthur Silva Use your ears, it helps.
Jake .06 It's kinda hard to understand him
Maybe u don't understand his accent :B
I don't think you have ears.
Jake .06 Did I say listen or understand?
2:44 what the hell? Mentioning their work on NFS as their main feat before saying "Eh, and also they did Burnout"? I thought they're known for Burnout first, and ruining NFS second.
" Black" was very entertaining game!
says 5 games but the title says 6...
Lol I noticed this too. :p
how are you getting 5? there was 6 mad max, electra, dirty harry, star fox, command and conquer, and dungeon and dragons i think you guys gotta go count them again..
theninjamaster67 at the beginning of the video he said 5
Y4123 ooo gotcha XD
Then there's all that talk about making the game that finally closes the storyline gap between Megaman and X. Still haven't seen anything epic to conclude the original Megaman story.
Video games is an extremely risky career, you can have a bunch of great games to your name and think you have a steady job, but at any time your publishing company can give you a peice of shit and fuck you over just like that at no fault to you
Wow, so getting the license for Star Wars is apparently no problem, but Dungeons & Dragons? Way too expensive!
Because gorge Lucas when he had the rights pretty much new it's name was bullet proof so anyone could get the rights for the price
PLEASE!?"
it was too expensive for what it was worth. star wars is worth the money.
taaj howell That does make sense.
Kid Icarus uprising is a better StarFox game than StarFox Zero
what is the game at 0:29, that says courtesy from NINTENDO?
That was a trailer for Project H.A.M.M.E.R, a mature game Nintendo had planned for the Wii that was cancelled mid-production.
what's the music at the very end?
one game that make me really pissed off because of its cancellation is Bourne game by Starbreeze and EA. Imagine the maker of The Darkness and Chronicle of Riddick making an FPS Bourne game. Cursed you EA for cancelled that game and told Starbreeze to made Syndicate instead
Didn't Sakurai pretty much redesign Pit for Brawl anyway? That kinda made him a first choice for a revival classic.
Actually Liam did a video on his channel where there was an attempt at a darker and serious Kid Icarus that would ditch Pit's Brawl design, but it was cancelled.
Igorcastrochucre I actually prefer the current silly Kid Icarus we have now.
I fuckin love Super Smuhsh Brovas!
fucktoor foive was a great developer
Feel like we've all seen this stuff before
Dirty Harry sounded quite fun
what game is at 0:09
EeveeFall "Heist" by TrapDoor. Liam talks about it on Unseen64 on his own channel!
am I the only one that loves Lair?
