Yes!! I've been waiting for this one. Thank you so much, Chance for bringing these great interviews to us. Two of my favorites in the VC right here, for sure. The thing about Melinda is she is so real. So down to earth, humble and kind. I love her honesty and kindness. The VC defintely has grown over the last handful of years, and I am very guilty of not being able to keep up with the rapid growth. Part of it is because I have just been extremely hyper-focused on opening and growing my business at the record store, but the other part of it is I kind of feel disconnected because there are so many channels and creators that I just don't know, so it's very hard to keep up. One thing I am going to try and do now that I have my home listening room put together is to try and make more "Billy" videos. I'm going to do this for a couple reasons. 1: It will make Melinda happy LOL and 2: it will make me happy to be able to just talk about things that I am passionate about once again outside of the shop. Melinda I was just at a Record show in the Detroit area and there were 4 of those Seger Records. This is the land of old Seger. Very nice of both of you to shout me out and my wife was even in the room so I could point out I really am nice. Thank you for this interview Chance and Melinda. The Discogs wantlist question is an interesting one because even Discogs says to make their emails more helpful you should reduce your list down the must haves rather than the would be nice to haves.
Thank YOU for watching! TBH, the emails Discogs sends of my wantlist have a 0% conversion rate. Perhaps if I pare it down that might make a difference, but timing is really paramount to when those things pop up (for me). While it’s been awhile since I’ve bought from them (more on that coming soon), it’s for reasons unrelated to how they communicate the availability of items on my own wantlist. What say you?
@@ConcertBuddie I agree, I have a big wantlist but I need to pair that down to make it somewhat more meaningful otherwise the Discogs emails are less worth opening. I'd like to pair my wantlist down though with some criteria that doesn't exist yet on Discogs like by sellers with a rating over 99%, location of seller, condition of media and sleeve so that if you wanted VG+ for media and sleeve or better you could, as well as price with shipping. I'm hopeful that Discogs is working on giving us more control over our lists based on the recent interviews they did with Steve Westman and NTX vinyl.
Great interview Chance 👍 I really love watching Melinda's YT channel. She seems like such a down-to-earth and great lady and she makes some interesting videos on some interesting topics. She was either the first channel I came across or at least one of the first three I saw when I started getting back into vinyl record buying and collecting again around late 2020. Just from watching her videos, I've determined she's somewhere in the same age group as me and I could really relate to a lot of what she was talking about. And the music definitely has that nostalgia factor to it with her as it does with me so I was real happy to find her channel and then, like she had mentioned, notice that there was a whole VC out there of people interested in the same thing as me. I've had to slow down a little in commenting on videos lately primarily because it takes so long for me to use Google Voice to Text (yeah I'm lazy and doing this on my phone with a magnifier) and then keep up with any replies and having to proofread what Google has typed. I hope one day it gets better at understanding human language haha. I've been a little busy with family stuff but I just wanted to let you know I'm still watching and enjoying your videos too! I like the YT channels that actually aren't switching over to making these short 60 second clips all the time that I can't even cast to my TV and watch. I enjoy the longer videos that I can kick back and watch some good conversations and topics on. I guess you could call it the 33 RPM videos that last longer as opposed to the 45 RPM, or maybe even 78 RPM, videos that are over before they begin :-) Thanks for the work and podcasts Chance!
