At last a manufacturer who recognizes not all of us want to go touring on an ADV, the return of a 'proper' Sporting / Touring bike which can take 2 away and still have real fun in the twisties and on track. Looking forward to getting a test on this next year.

Just curious Jon why someone would choose one of these "old school" Sport Touring bikes over the ADV segment which people have grown to love? Truthfully asking. The way I see it compared to a 1050 XT or Tracer 9 GT is just that these are wider in the engine area and less torquey for street riding. For true LONG distance highway cruising I totally understand the point of the silky and powerful 4.

I don't understand this annoying trend of making motorcycles for riding in the desert! The vast majoriry of motorcyclists travel on asphalt roads. If you want to ride on the mount, buy a dirty motorcycle! Please!
I dream of the day that someone builds a medium-high displacement motorcycle for road touring. At Honda, f.e. you don't have any options. Up next NC 750X there is NOTHING!
And it was so easy! Mount the CB 650R engine on the NC chassis for example.
F#ckng ADV rally dirty things. 🙄

'Better late then never', a bit late to the market. The world is in a financial meltdown and they think people have nearly 12 thousand pounds to buy a bike; was it just bad luck.
With job losses coming, unemployment rising and an energy market squeeze, £11,600 when people are losing their jobs, is too much. Not everyone can live just a life of credit; and they way things are going, very few people will be for much longer.
Biking in the UK is getting harder every day; the roads, the people, the risks.

@@can-uc-wakeup It's true what you say but the competition is all more expensive, some by a very long way! Suzuki also offer plenty of other cheaper options for those who can't afford this model.

    • @can-uc-wakeup
      @can-uc-wakeup 3 роки тому

@@UpsideDownFork It's not Suzuki's fault, that they are so far in debt, that they are having to charge these prices, just to service the debts they are in. All manufacturers are now caught in the same trap, struggling to survive in a declining market place.
As for writing to an MP, you may as well flush toilet paper down the toilet, for all that will do!
The UK is bankrupt, and very few people can see it. Market and economic forces at play are unknown to most people; where do you see it, and where do you think it is going? What do you think is coming?

Is that what people want; to be more slaves to a system, than they already are? The Great Reset will not be what people expect. Too many people will have to suffer, businesses will not escape unscathed; most if not all are already insolvent and owned by the banks.

The GSXR1000 k5 motor is still the king of the inline fours as far as I'm concerned. It may only put out152PS which in today's crazy numbers of 200+ hyper horsepower mounts may seem like a paltry number by comparison. In the real world however unless you are Joan Mir or Alex Rins, you'll never need more than what this bike offers. I would buy one for the K5's bark alone.

Prematurely sold a 2010 Honda VFR1200F. Until now, I have had little optimism that there would be a replacement with the high quality fit and finish of Honda and the excellent freeway manners. I think the GSX-S1000GT just might be the better replacement!
I've looked through Suzuki's marketing materials on the GSX-S GT', and they've really put their best foot forward to not only understand what motorcyclists are demanding from a sports tourer, but explaining what changes they've made. From front to back, this motorcycle looks extremely thoughtful and I'm definitely inspired to see it and consider purchasing one.
One of the other things I really like with Suzuki's approach here is the emphasis on refinement. Sure, they added some electronics like rider modes and traction control, but they didn't go over the moon with the electronic wizardry. Rather, they refined what they already do best, like making a new subframe to handle the additional weight of the panniers, and testing the pannier connection to the frame over bumps to minimize movement but retain some flexibility. The extensive wind tunnel testing for airflow direction around the rider, the application of thicker, using injection molded plastic instead of hot press forming and thicker material for the screen for optimizing its shape and strength....all just thoughtful ways of doing the things that they already do. This is progress!

I just see an evolution of the GSX-S F, to be honest, clearly the chassis and engine is largely the same from looking at it, with new plastics and reprofiled tank. They've moved the F on nicely in terms of electronics, display, cruise, quickshifter... as an ex-F owner, the one thing I really loved about it was that it was definitely a sports-tourer biased more towards "sport" than "tour". The only thing that worries me about this is it seems to focus more towards the tour, I wonder whether it's lost a little of the GSX-S F's sportier nature with the fairings, high risers, etc... but... looks good! Shame I've moved on, could have done with this several years ago :)
