  • Dr. Adutwum also talked about the new developments in the education policy in addition to the new schools being built. He talked about STEM and said the weakest link in the chain is JHS, he showed how his ministry is fixing JHS at the policy level and right on the ground. See video... 16mins.

    Woooow. I wish I was younger. Nana Addo and this minister came too late. Too late for some of us. But the future is bright.

    Dr Adutwum has stirred up my emotions as I listen to him. When my daughter and I came to the USA in 2018, we had decided that she would be a doctor because I wanted a doctor in my family. She had just gone through the JSS stage and had passed and secured a place in Accra Girls. Because of our resolve, I made sure I explained our vision for our daughter to a maths teacher in the Georgia School we enrolled her in to help her in that subject. Then the teacher told us their school had built a new school which specifically was going to cater for students interested in medicine or being a doctor. Soon, we received letters of letters from the new school inviting us to what I should say was a durbar. Boy was I shocked! In some of the classrooms they had mannequins on ‘sick beds’ some of which had been programmed to speak. And teachers were going to use these things and sophisticated equipment to start children as young as 12, 13, 14 et al years old on the doctor, nurse, pharmacist course. You can imagine my excitement and thanks to The Almighty God. I pray if the doctor would read this, he add something similar to the new STEM schools he is championing in Ghana. Now my daughter is in College and pursuing our dream. So Doc bravo. And to Nana Addo I say thanks for your visionary leadership.

    Paul, what this minister is talking about with reference to teachers in the classroom, pretty much how America high schools are structured. You move from class to class depending on the courses you are taking. Students don't have designated classrooms like Ghana.
    The big problem in Ghana is all expenses have to be from the govt. Yes, high schools are partly supported by the state, parents chip in from the property tax they pay yearly on their houses.

    • @harrietacquah2545
      @harrietacquah2545 4 місяці тому

      Well, our property tax system in Ghana is not robust. They are trying to be strict on it but they need to do some work on the system. Little by little we will get there.

    Paul, why can’t Dr. Adutwum links up with Dr. Thomas Mensah to assist train Teachers for the STEM School. In that way people not only have to travel to Silicon Valley of Ghana before they get the best technical knowledge. Paul, if care isn’t taken, we’ll swerve from the bases of the STEM but follow the same Chew and pour in the STEM School.

    • @harrietacquah2545

      You didn't get him. Being an engineer requires creativity. I'm an engineer and I loved painting from childhood. And I believe my passion for arts helps me with being creative in engineering. Remember that everything starts in the mind.
