Every time I hear a song by Hozier, I think, oh I love it, THAT is my new favorite Hozier song, nothing will top it... and then he comes out with something else that moves me in a different way. I thought it about Take Me to Church, then Work Song and It Will Come Back, then I thought Arsonist's Lullabye would always be my most favorite, but then I heard Nina Cried Power, and Moment's Silence and now Movement... and they're all so wonderful. I can't wait for the new album to come out, so I can see what else he comes up with.
@hari srinivasan it's in a lower key. Artists usually perform their hit songs in a lower key on tour to save them from vocal strain. It suits this lower pitch and sounds very deep and grounded. Beautiful soul music.
i don't know why... but this performance really hits different. there's some quality to it that i can't place but it just doesn't feel like other performances of his that i've watched. i love him so much.
I think i've listened to a number of his live performances of the album and have realised that these songs have truly come from his heart, because all his performances are just awesome and the always give me goosebumps. no other artist can keep recreating that feeling with his performances over and over again!! love love love him
Hozier is an amazingly talented singer; musician; and phenomenal poet. He loves and appreciates each one of his true fans & for those who don't quite understand him & may poke fun.. he'll be the first to enjoy it ..just shows what a rare person he is
I just heard the live video at a subway take me to church and then I watched an interview saw the link and now I'm on this song. Its brilliant. I love he made a song about dance because he don't sing dance song. Lovely.
My interpretation of this song is, (Check out the official song video) Everyone has two sides in them---evil and angel. Similarly, the boy sitting in the truck has. You can see the man who is in black pants and is bare chest is the evil side and the one who is in white pants is the angel side of the man. So, when the man's angel calls him, he moves over his evil part. And when the man enters the building, the evil side chases him back. You can see at 1:50 that when the man's evil side appears he mocks the man and hence cages him in the prison. But in the prison the man remembers the good time(2:23) when he was dancing and makes effort to break the prison and come out. Therefore, when he comes out he sees his angel part is welcoming him at 2:40. The one who is singing this song is actually the man's good side, that is the angel, which is telling the man to move. To do whatever he wants. To live his life however he wants. To love his dreams. Feel hope.(Perhaps dance again) And when eventually the man tries to run away from his hopes, his dreams, and his demons, he sees that the angel part of the man is chasing him back.
Curious as to if there's a nod to Asgeir Trausti with the atmospheric keyboard sound effects near the end. God I love this song. Do yourself a favour and listen to this treat with headphones. x
I noticed that everytime he performs this song he puts his hand away when he mentions Polunin. It's so sad, Sergei is such a talented being but he went just wrong. It looks like really affected Hozier, it's sad :((
He should sing the next James Bond intro ! Vote yes
It would be awsome!!!
unfortunately it's been given to Billie Eilish 🤢🤮
Fuck James Bond tbh. He’s better than that
Great suggestion!
I love that at the end he has to hold the microphone a foot and a half away from his face so he won't overpower everyone else in the harmony lol.

Sameeeee
Any updates to the list? What's the current favorite?
Literally all of his songs are my favorite
This is absolutely not lip-synched, absolutely not auto-tuned or pitch-corrected, and absolutely flawless
That was even better than the studio version
I think so too

Who would have though the second coming would be in the form of an irish fae with a voice like honey.
Hozier's voice just evokes something deep and soulful...shivers, every time
Every song is like a spiritual experience. Love Hozier so much...such talent.
True
i don't know why... but this performance really hits different. there's some quality to it that i can't place but it just doesn't feel like other performances of his that i've watched. i love him so much.
I thought the same. Maybe talking about his Quaker upbringing just before-the silence and speaking when moved-gave him a deeper in to the song

I love that the whole band is singing!
Wasteland Baby is a masterpiece with Movement as one of the most outstanding tracks and this live performance is literally heaven on earth
