Mode Maya, just a clarification about something you mentioned. The USA citizenship is not automatic for a spouse who marry a North American. They get a provisional resident visa for two years then after that they do another review for 10 years ( depending the case) then a regular no limit visa. Correction: one does not automatically get the citizenship status if married to someone from either the UK or America. In the UK, you first are issued with a residence permit which allows you to work but you have to have been in the UK for some time before you can apply for a British passport/British citizenship. Marrying a British person doesn't automatically upgrade your status to citizenship. In the same vein, marriage to a US citizen doesn't automatically result in the foreign spouse being granted citizenship. I am a mixed (African-European) person married to a US citizen. We moved to the US almost a year ago and I am yet to receive my green card and work permit. In the whole time we've been here, I haven't been able to work, or apply for a driver's license or apply for medical insurance. So...all is not rosy in the west as one might think.

I think you made a mistake in USA you first get a two year resident card, then you get a 10 year card anytime you can apply for naturalization. but it is not automatic you do have to do interviews during this time.

In Canada if a foreigner marry a Canadian you don’t automatically become a citizen, you still need to apply to become an immigrant.

In USA it isn't automatic to become a citizen after marriage with a U.S. citizen. There are forms to fill and immigration interviews then maybe a foreigner can get his/her greencard.
pretty sure it actually IS a default thing, all you have to do is be married for 4 years and 3 months or something and it defaults to citizenship.

I believe you said that if you marry someone from America then you would automatically become a citizen. That is NOT correct, sir. If you marry an American, you have the opportunity to apply for a green card or residency permit, but you DO NOT BECOME A CITIZEN or even get a green card even if you marry an American.

You don't automatically become a citizen in Europe due to marriage, you have to fulfil certain criterias like no criminal records and that your employed ,But it gives you platform to pursue a citizenship.Nothing automatic.
You don’t become a citizen you become a permanent residence you can get your citizenship after 3 years if you still married to the same person.

To be honest when you marry a US or European citizen, l don’t think you AUTOMATICALLY get citizenship, l think you get right of abode or PR and then (depending on the country) you can apply for citizenship after living there for some time.
