  • This documentary released by the NC Medical Society and the Physicians Advocacy Institute (PAI), details the two-year ordeal of a rural North Carolina medical practice that underwent a Medicare audit. Initial demands from the audit contractor for $40,000 in alleged overpayments quickly spiraled into a demand for more than $1 million. After more than two years, $300,000 in expenses, and thousands of hours diverted from direct patient care, this practice proved that it had provided appropriate services to its patients and documented the claims correctly.

I would very much like to know the names of the legal practice, and attorneys who assisted Carolina East Internal Medicine. It seems that they are experienced, and knowledgeble in correctly handling these matters

It is very sad how they take advantage of so many people and give false claims or putting doctors at risk making it difficult for physicians to get the needs of their patients.
