As a moldable plastic I can see using this as a base for a lot of other materials. Like feathers or beadwork held in place with the small dots clever cut out. I will have to get some of this stuff now. Great new project!
Gorgeous mask, dude!! Ilove how you JUST get into Warbla and come out with a stellar piece. You could even leave one of the eyes uncut and add crystal or some other crazy eye replacement effect.
As a more recent thing, one downside with worbla is the edges of it for this kind of thing. I was suggested by a friend who works in costuming to find a softer fabric ribbon to work around the edges because they can dig in when around parts of the body that move more such as with the mask.
I remember when I made my leather Nightwing mask I made it by punching holes, wetting the leather, and tying it to my face and forming it and letting it sit until it dried. This is a really cool method though and I'll have to try it some time once I get worbla
I wonder if a laser cutter would be able to cut this material without messing up the detail too much. that would really multiply the amount of effects you could do.
Awesome mask, I love worbla! Your pronunciation of "gesso" is 9/10, you did good by trusting Google! And you can trust me too, I'm Italian 😜😂 P.S. are you ever gonna release any patterns for that awesome hood? 🥺
I made an entire helmet with Worbla. It's no longer a helmet, but it could take a beating. And by helmet, I mean a full head heltmet with no straps or glue needed. The design was roughly based on my custom design of a Spartan helmet.
You don't have to, no. Just make sure that you're working on a heat-proof surface, and use a silicone mat under the Worbla, as it will stick to a surface after you heat it up. One side is actually smooth and shiny, while the other is duller and a bit textured - the smoother side is the adhesive side. Depending on how heat-sensitive your hands are you might want to wear gloves for forming it; it can get quite hot. Also the more often you heat it the harder it gets to work with, so try to get your basic shape down with the first heating. Worbla comes in black, regular (a tanish color) and clear.
At first I thought you kept saying "war blood" then I read the title. Mine sounds cooler, though. I can see the possibilities for this material and just not in the costume making side but many many other places.
Ive heard that you can take a pair of black pantyhose and cut off the legs, and use them as a cover for the eyes. That way you can see out, but people cant see in. I dont remember the specifics, but I think it was two layers stretched just tight enough to be see through when on your face but not tight enough to stretch the fabric or make it taught. Worth a shot maybe?
I've done it on my own face I would heat the Worbla and then put it on my face I would not recommend it though because it is kind of hot with your face being very sensitive just be very very Careful if you do
You could transform your face into an alien by making chin and cheek pieces to go with the part you made and use spirit gum to attach them. A little makeup in the spaces and you have an alien "mask" that you can wear and still talk and eat.
Ohh, this really came out great! I have never used worbla before, but now I might try. Nice job, both with the mask and presenting the tutorial.
Thank you so much! I was IMPRESSED with how easy it was to work with. Really cool product.

This gives me so many ideas for a form fitted leather masks
I just recently found your channel and have been binge watching everything! I love love learning the skills with you!

Thanks a ton! And I LOVE that idea. Gives at a more intimidating "mystical" feel.
That is so awesome! Worbla always seemed so daunting. May have to think of something to use it for now!
Omg. I've worked with a harder plastic. And trying this out made things WAY easier.
Hear me out: Skyrim Dragon Priest masks.
That aside, the mask is amazing is the video was very thorough!
I just got some worbla and hsing this as a starter tutorial. Might use this idea to make a face mask for my outfit too(stereotypical hero mask)

That is a beautiful mask! Yeah I think some spirit gum is in order for this mask though
if never heard of Worbla that's super cool

Perfectly fits (pun intended) for Monks of the Way of Mercy
Duh Dum TSSSSS. Love a good pun LOL
Lol been waiting since yesterday for this videos to come out
Well, I am glad you didn't need to wait TOO long.
I'm reminded of the book The Mage in the Iron Mask.
I dig the costume so far man let's see it all together

just watching this and thinking you could do an amazing cosplay of clopin from the hunchback of notre dame
Nicely done dude! I have to say though: MASK OF MANY FACES!
I love this. I definitely want to try it.
I would also suggest doing a "raccoon eyes" makeup before puting on the mask
Agreed! So, I took thst photo lastnight and eyeliner is HARD to remove lol. That being said, my eyes look GREAT 🤣
This is great! Just an idea... This may be interesting to mix with leathercraft.
I love it when we get a War Mage or Corrupted Druid can you make a Playlist for the War Mage Please 😁
Sure!
May I suggest clear worbla or transpart for some cool masks and effects in the future?
Thank you for that just wondering I know you didn't paint the back but I am wondering about the effect on your face of the paint
What a cool mask! I have not used worbla but I've been very curious about it! Did you have to wear a respirator while you were heating the plastic?

A mask made from warblood? Take my money! 😂

I have a request. You should try making lamellar armor.
That mask reminds me of the mask from a character of the chinese Drama "Guardian". Black cloaked Envoy
Dude, you literally keep making videos of the things that I want to make! Do you have access to my search history or something!?🤔
Yes I do! And, might I just say.... You are into som INTERESTING stuff!
DONT MOLD WORBLA TO YOUR OWN FACE! YOU WONT HAVE A GOOD TIME! TRUST ME I BEEN THERE!

Tips for using the heat gun?
How hot do you have to get the stuff? Will a hair dryer work?
Is it me or does he look like a medieval batman with the mask and the war mage
😂 Maybe next I will do medieval/fantasy Joker
Do it! (palpatine voice)
👍👍👍
I see that the material did'nt stick to the base, what material was the mask that you shaped the worbla on?
Yes, it is "jess-oh"(gesso) it's Italian for chalk
That makes perfect sense! Thank you!
@@SkillTree Di niente amico!
If you don't have a heat gun could we use the microwave?
i really wanted to do this to make a therian mask ( i cant buy the cat base ) but i cant get that plastic either :(
❤ ame, muchas gracias
Could you make a cast of your life mask into some sort of skull shape that you can dangle in a bucket and grow borax crystals off of?
Would a regular hair dryer work with the Worbla? Or does it have to be a heat gun?
Yes! It will take longer to heat but I have read that a hair dryer would indeed work!
@@SkillTree that’s good to know just in case. I still need to get a heat gun but haven’t had a “need” it has just been a “want” at the moment
Can I use polyurethane paint on it?
can i use worbla on a foam head?
Wow! 👍
Neat
But I wanna make a mask of a fictional character can you do a video like making a mask on a fictional person
2:40 ish I thought it would've been funny if you went "i'm batman"
Oh yeah... This is gonna happen.
Cant curse something thats already cursed
Oh dear God no i hate spirit gum there are so many nicer options that aren't as hard on skin
