Gone with the Wind....my namesake movie. Memorized every scene, every line, and every song while home from school with chicken pox in 5th grade for a week. Tara!! ❤️ thanks for sharing!!!
"Gone With The Wind" is one of my all time favorite movies! It's great to know that the old mill is real and not just a movie prop! Thanks for the history lesson! Did you know that the theme from the movie is also the song, "My Own True Love" which was recorded in the 1950's by The Duprees?
I'm in Clayton co Georgia and about 2 years ago the exterior of Tara was actually found stored in a barn not far from me. The news did a full morning show showing it all being categorized.
It's the wooden windows, wooden side porch rails, and wooden supports from the movie set of Tara. The walls were made of plywood painted to look like brick, and they didn't survive the weather ravages of 20 years.. The set sat out in the open air in the backlot of the Selznick, later Desilu, Studios. It was built in 1939. By 1959 it was a wreck from the sun, wind, and rain. They dismantled it and saved what they could. It was purchased for $5,000 and shipped from California to Georgia. Last year it sold at auction for $30,000. I believe that the Margaret Mitchell Museum in Atlanta bought it. They plan to restore it and put it on display in the museum.
Gone with the wind is one of my all time favorite movies. The first time I watched it, I fell madly in love with Rhett Butler. Seeing the ducks reminded me that a grade school in Manchester New Hampshire just had a wedding for two ducks. It was so cute. Have a great day Adam.
They used the Villa Marre house in Little Rock for Designing Women is because Linda Bloodworth-Thomas one of the producers is from Little Rock and she loved the house. By the way, it's for sale for only $950,000! While you were in the Quapaw Quarter you should have gone to the Governor's Mansion, it was Suzanne Sugarbaker's house as well.... the exterior only of course! Always wanted to go the Mill, but in my family, I am the only one interested in that sort of thing, so when we visited family near Little Rock.... they always wanted to go shopping ugh.... searching out historical places is a lot more ful!
The artist that installed the concrete "wooden" bridges also has some work in Memphis - Crystal Shrine Grotto. It's an underground man-made cave in a cemetery. Worth a trip to see!
Every time I click on one of your videos, I say to myself, "I don't have time to watch the whole thing..." Every. Single. Time - I watch the whole thing. 🙄😳😂
Looks good! Part of Gone with the Wind was shot outside Charleston, SC at Boone Hall Plantation. The oak covered drive to 12 oaks or Tara was shot there, but the house was replaced in a rear projection shot later, so only the trees appear in the movie. This is disputed.
When you get to Seattle, I am waiting for you! I have started an Adam The Woo collection! I am trying to raise a thousand dollars to help keep you on the road! So far I have collected $127.63! Keep it going brother! We love you up here! We are so happy to see you in Large Marge instead of that old DeLorean!
Yes, we have lovely, cozy coffee houses in Seattle. And we have FREE Wi-Fi too. You can sit and listen to the sound of falling rain on the roofs. It rains daily. But it's very soothing. Many writers, musicians, and students enjoy it here.
Love the mill. Thank you! The administration building of the studio that is in the Selznick logo still stands in Culver City, CA. It's walkway was used in the scene where the servants arrive at the new Atlanta house but the building was covered with a matte painting. Sugarbaker house was great too.
Awesome lil' park & pond... For those ppl, (Myself, included, lol), that remember the original movie, "Gone With The Wind". We say, Thank You, Adam, for taking the time to make this stop for Us. ; D
Glad to see that you are closing the vlog eating some nutritional food instead of chips. I do not recall you actually preparing a homemade meal using your RV stove yet. ADAM THE WOO'S COOKING ADVENTURES sure would be an interesting (and perhaps very entertaining or even surprising) simple additional segment to the vlog depending on your cooking abilities. It would be especially practical for you on rainy/ cold days when you find yourself in a rural location where it is difficult to get out and film.
I have to admit that the interior of "Large Marge" looks very cozy and comforting. Adam, these blogs are fantastic & have grown on me as each day is very different. 5 stars..
Thank you for Arkansas! You have reawakened so many great memories for me. I must go back there one day. In addition to Hawaii, California, and Tennessee, it is one of the most beautiful state I have ever been to.
Fun fact, the artist who made the concrete mushrooms and the woodlike bridges at the old mill also built the Crystal Shrine Grotto in Memphis, and has a series of sculptures on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. It was fun to see Little Rock again, I used to walk in that cemetery every day when I lived there. Thanks!
Good video Adam. I have been thru Little Rock many times but never did more than stop overnight. Thanks for showing us some interesting things. You know..when my wife and I travel in our RV she fixes up some great meals in the galley. You can save some money and it makes your rig seems more like home. You might give it try.
Thanks for taking the time to do these each and every day. I always, well almost always, learn something new. You're also expanding my list of new places to check out. Just wanted to make sure you knew how much I appreciate what you do. I'm sure it's enjoyable, but time consuming and at times lonely. But the knowledge, laughs and smiles you give me each day I'll. be forever grateful for. Thank you. 🤗💕 Travel Safe and Be Well 🤗
adamthewoo You simply have no idea how much! 🙂💕🤗 Every morning same routine, caffeine, blanket, comfy chair and where in the world is Adam today? Even on the road I do the same thing. 👍 I only go part time, I'd give anything to be full time, so living it via your eyes is a great blessing in my book. 🤗💕
Or some condescending, controlling male for the ladies. You are right, being single is the way to go. As one of my friends told me was her mantra after dating several years, 'Sworn to Fun, Loyal to None'.
technically "Tara" the plantation style mansion is still with us. It had been on the 40 acres back lot, when "Hogan's Heroes" went into production, Tara was dismantled and sold to a collector. Hopefully it has been taken care of and will be reassembled one day!
Thank you Adam, for the great history of my home state. I didn't even know these things were in Little Rock and have drove by them or not far from them many many times. Awesome Vlogging Brother!!!
Great video. I've never seen Gone with the Wind. It's cool that place still exists. I used to watch Designing Women. That house is awesome. Funny how it's so cold there. it's been around the 70s in Massachusetts lately.
If you make your way to north central Arkansas, you should go to Blanchard Springs cavern. There is a zip line called Loco Ropes in that area too. Buffalo River is beautiful and there is a mining ghost town there called Rush. If you go to Bentonville you should go to the Crystal Bridges museum.
Surgarbakers!! I loved Designing Women. The Mill would be a beautiful place for a small wedding. Thanks for showing that. Gone With The Wind is on my top 3 list of all time favorite movies. Safe Travels Adam.☺
I just love your traveling vlogs. I LOVE LOVE history and there has never been any show that goes and shows the things you do. UMM. HELLO history channel or A&E here is your newest winning show idea and star.... grab him up....yes please!!!!!!
Yes I agree with you all but I just love what he does so much and he is so likable. It would just be nice to get someone like him on T.V. and get rid of so many idiots that are on there now. Either way PLEASE PLEASE don't stop Adam!! We love you!!!!
Oh yeah the hot food bar at Whole Foods. I used to love the road trip movies like Planes, trains, automobiles. Even the Jerk lol. Filming on "the road" made everything in the film seem so expansive. You have to love the scenery and you actually feel like your traveling in a sense.... With no commercial interruptions..... Good stuff and a pretty good entertainer too. Interesting themes some offbeat but mostly interesting. Good videography.
Hey Adam, Nice to learn so much about Arkansas. I think Jennings Osborne of the MGM Osborne Family lights is buried in the same cemetery as David O Dodd.
Seeing as you and I did the former spot of the 40 Acres Backlot in Culver City, where Tara stood and Atlanta burned, I'm happy to tell you -- WELL DONE!!!!! DonnySpielberg is proud! ;-)
Thanks for taking us to the GWTW mill, what a beautiful little park. I'm also very glad to see you eat something healthy. You may be Peter Pan but it's becoming time to lighten up on the chips and barbecue. Just saying it because we want you around for a long long time my brother.
I wish we had a Whole Foods in Utah, but I believe there is one in Las Vegas NV if Im not mistaken, but when I was in Austin TX not too long ago I went to that one there for my first time, awesome awesome store, and I really got a kick out of the bar that was located within that establishment. The Deli was food of the Gods for me.
I live near LR and got married at the old mill. Wish followed you two years ago and knew you were going to be in town, I would have enjoyed showing you around.
That mill its historical. Sorry my english..but I love GWTW and be able to see a real building from the movie makes me very happy. A beautiful piece of movie history too.
Gone with the Wind....my namesake movie. Memorized every scene, every line, and every song while home from school with chicken pox in 5th grade for a week. Tara!! ❤️ thanks for sharing!!!

Love that old mill... I could spend hours looking at it. And try not to upset the fowl! You are already on their hit list! ;-)
The Mill from Gone with the Wind 👍🏼 That was a trip! Happy Sunday Everyone! Watched & Liked!
The Selznick building is still standing in Culver City Ca and it was in GWTW.
very good point. I think technically since it is pre opening credit sequence it is. Forgot about that, thanks. Ive bene there too but need to return
I saw another vid. I always thought that was Tara. But, Tara is in a storage unit :(
Gone with the wind is one of my all time favorite movies. The first time I watched it, I fell madly in love with Rhett Butler. Seeing the ducks reminded me that a grade school in Manchester New Hampshire just had a wedding for two ducks. It was so cute. Have a great day Adam.

Seattle has over 1000 Whole Foods stores! So when you get here, you can eat as healthy as you like!
As a coffee drinker, you will love the vast assortment of coffee houses here!
And last but not least... We have daily sightings of Big The Foot in these parts!

Great video Adam!
