As a nurse I took care of an old man while in the ICU who told me he had a small engine repair shop.He was certified on many outboards and other equipment and he had made a good living out of all his hard work. There was his diner! Be proud of what you do.
I can’t believe some commenters are not liking this video because it’s not Taryl’s typical small engine videos. I personally enjoyed the variety! Keep ‘em coming, Taryl. If people don’t like it, I say too bad.
Reminds me of the time when I was 10 and my cousin had a four-wheeler. Kawasaki Mojave. We decided to start it up in March hopenibg it was going to be an early spring... We're on the gravel driveway and of course we used starting fluid to get her started. As soon as he said "fire it up Jimmy"... It Fired up. .. someone got sprayed with rocks and dirt... I will always remember that day for some weird reason. If Terrell's' secretaries can convey this message ..... .. .. Your videos and everything you've done with the skits and all really bring a smile to some people's faces. We marvel at your ability to be an awesome mechanic... use the title "mechanic" loosely but I hope you know you're humor and knowledge are appreciated. If we could bring back the McCulloch go-kart movement on a competitive level I definitely like to go back in time. Blueprinting engines in the old time way would be a really cool video by the way...
Congrats Taryl Fixes All, on finally gotten ur 50 Willy's Jeep done. I would take-off the clear fuel filter and put-on a metal filter. After a time the heat from ur motor will melt the plastic of the filter.. catches on fire. ask anybody..
The owner of the Jeep received better quality of work from a lawnmower repair shop than they would have received from most auto shops. Very nice work, Taryl!
I doubt he’s quitting the small engine stuff. He said in the Willy’s Jeep Repair Part 1 that he was fixing this Jeep 🚙 to help out the man who built that new addition to Taryl’s shop. The Jeep owner had been helping his younger son fix up the Jeep 🚙 & he Ask Taryl to fix some of the really hard things for he & his son. A lot of things that needed to be fixed that required custom building things to fix it. Taryl was definitely the best he could’ve got to do this because he did have to custom build some things. In the Part 1 and Part 2 Taryl custom built several things. The guy that owns the Jeep was probably too busy being a builder to do the repairs. So he ask Taryl to do it, So he’s not gonna stop the small engine repair. U have nothing to worry about there.
Wait-a-minute, wait-a-minute, I can't let this go. WHAT BRAND OF BEER CAN does Taryl recommend to use for shim stock? Damn Well better be a Hamm's can!! I just can't imagine Taryl missing that.
Thank You for such an in depth explanation while changing those parts , More young people should watch and Pay Attention to your videos , So They can learn something , How to DIY with common ( Rare) sence ; Like NOT using a Hammer Drill , Use the Ratchet when running threads . or Reverse threaded Nuts Usually have notches for Identification they're Reverse direction . or your Nut Setter tool , that makes things easier to work on .
2.09 I would leave the intake at little loose to the exhaust then bolt the two up to the head. After that, tighten the intake to the exhaust at the 4 hole gasket. You don't know how flat/straight the head is to the manifolds. That's why you do that first.
At 16 we had two of them at shop for towing and pushing vehicles into shop , was AllWAYS working on them, Dad sold them and my brother in law got it and still had to work on it for 40 more years for free lolol
On the straight 6 chevy intake/exhaust we would tighten all the bolts to the block first and THEN tighten the bolts that connect them to each other. It aligned all the mating surfaces to the block. Entertaining educational video. Just bored and figured i would comment and important tip you gave to file out them 4 holes at the start of video.
The number of us folks who worked on old flat head straight 4cyl continentals & jeeps, 6cyl chevys, fords, plymouths and straight 8 buicks is diminishing daily. All that good info will be lost someday. Sad.
Beautiful painting jobs Taryl! I've learned so much from your videos, and I ordered some of your tacky cement mixes for repairing the floor of my shower in my apartment. I would buy a new if I owed it but landlord won't repair soooo. I love your little palomino 😎
I've gotta admit it Taryl - watching you work that impact wrench to pull the new spring up and into place.. made me want to feel your nuts to see how warm they were :)
Taryl you need a stud.......I'm busy right now but you do have a the nuts, slipper, Jr, Little Johnny, Like the vids! Lots of good info and I know it is a lot of work.
Ty, reminds me of the 77 fj40 that I had in highschool. I bought a 79 Toyota limo and had it shipped over from japan. The reason I got the limo was a 348 v8 hemi in it to go in my bent 6 fj40. Great power. It was my rooting, chasing deer though the clearcut special
That oil filter leaked on top because it appears to have the incorrect bolt. It should have a flange bolt. The crush washer is a good option though. Many flatheads didn’t have an oil filter canister. If added later the aftermarket kit comes with the wrong bolt. Jeep videos make your channel grow.
cool ole jeep . simple working machine easy to work on . cant beat the old stuff . you should paint the palomino to match it maybe throw some shocks on it to lol . that would be a fun video series .
Don't forget to checkout that voltage meter wiring issues on it taryl fixes all. It's most likely just A loose wires.,or A bad spot in the wiring somewhere is all. That's going to it. I'd check out those connections like the connecter fittings.,or known as gourmet crimpable inlet connector fasteners. Then you already know check for continuity and for A good ground connection circuit.,an etc. I'm sure of that to. You A awesome job on fixing that backup for those people to. Those exhaust manifolds have donut ring gaskets for that flange to on some of those like in regular vehicles also. Maybe that one wasn't designed for the usage of those though to I'm guessing on is why you're kit didn't have one in it possibly. A lot jeeps and etc. Due use.,or should I say take those we're you just only used that flat aluminum filled gasket they're made like those to. Some people also call them flange pipe gasket seal rings to.
Funny looking mower there Taryl. Where does the mower deck go, in front of the wheels or under the belly?🤣 J/K I have always wanted a WW2 jeep. Regards, Duck
This video series was top notch and a refreshing change . But I still prefer it when Taryl works on mowers. He's much funnier and relaxed then I think.
Indiana and about 29 other states do not allow Humvee ownership. I thought those old military jeeps had a heel-toe starter and a 6 volt battery. I guess it's been modified to avoid theft.
The CJ-2A was outfitted with extra optional equipment to be as useful as possible, it was no accident as it was primarily intended for farming, ranching, and industrial applications.
Some people say the 7 slots in the cj grill represent victory on 7 continents but it really just represents Willy's not wanting to pay royalties to Ford for his grill design which had 9 slots.
My father in law once had an old Willy’s Jeep CJ from 1946 and it was serial number 000002 or something like that. It had been molested prior to him getting it so he left the 289 v8 in it. Damn thing would almost wheelie if you rev’d it up and popped the clutch! Deadly fast and sketchy as heck.
Love watching you in the new shop taryl must feel great to come so far I have watched you for quite awhile and I'm happy to see what you have accomplished so far great job buddy keep making great videos.
Loved seeing the Willys and the Palomino side by side.

U said Diner I think 🤔 you meant Dinner. But nevertheless you said:
There “WAS” his Dinner.
So I’m assuming he didn’t make it outta ICU ?

7:40 for such things i use a stripe of an old inner tube, just mentioning
I like the number on the side there! 👍

Great job 4 Spark Plug General!
Cut out of a beer can. 😂
True military repair. I've been there and done that for the government.

Four Spark plug General 🤣 Man, you are off your head. I love this channel...🔧👍🇬🇧
"Get it boy, get it." I've used that from your videos. ha With the auto repair, Taryl your playing with the big boys! haha j/k.
Happy for the owners!
I've always wanted one of these old Willys Jeeps since the Army days. Never had the time or money to invest in one.
Thank you for sharing.👍
*Awesome guy, love his videos, great inspiration just gets better* 🔥💚
Great job on this! I probably would have broken some of those bolts getting that manifold off. We used to call line-up bars "drift pins" 😁.
Fine job there, General Dactyl!
A four plug general driving a jeep!! nice one
You did real good work on the jeep

It's all in the details, Teeeeeen-Hut 4 Sparkplug General in the area!
Love the simplicity of those old Jeeps!
Very good conscientious and thorough repairs to that Jeep. I hope the owner is pleased with the care TD gave his Jeep.
Good idea to chase the threads on the old u bolts before reassembly for more accurate tightening.

I could see the Palomino painted in army style. Would be cool
I had a 51 Jeep just like this I rigged it for snow plow back in 62 New Rochelle New love seeing this again!😊
You did great with that Darren!
Wrong channel, Taryl is not Mustie1 haha.
Get that man a retaining bearing for his impact!
Good job. I like how you let Jed Clampett fit the filler neck shim.

Happy Birthday to Jr. Aug. 27th 😎👍
A Hamm’s beer can preferably. 🐻❄️I can hear the song now “From the land of sky blue waaater.” Sounds good.
HaHa, I felt the beer can solution coming on😀
Turned this into a drinking game. Everyone drink when the socket falls off the impact wrench.
Cool old willys

Great job Taryl on that wwll jeep! I would love too have that jeep! Those your dinner ❤
Changing the oil in the differentials probably couldn't hurt. Oh, good job on that old classic. Don't fall out, or flip it over & get smushed.
Definitely been waiting for some palamino videos. Pretty cool rig your turning it into.
Always replace the u bolts. Tighen with a torque wrench and then retorque 2 more times after a short spin around the block.
You legendary taryl great video
Working on the Willy's was a nice project, Looks good runs better, sounds like a Jeep.
Yay! A repair video!

Taryl should be working on it as after WWII they sold them as a "tractor" pulling a plow, bailing hay, digging post holes etc! 🙂

Awesome video 👍
Nice work Taryl, it even sounds like the jeeps from movies I've seen
Way to go sergeant Taryl hoorah !!!
You need a turret with a 50 cal mounted on that thing ... Rat Patrol !!
Taryl, you should do a video on what tools you would recommend for a person starting out being a turf technician like you are.

I would get rid of the plastic fuel filter. That thing cracks and drops fuel on the manifold you will end up with a bbq.
They last for years. They will block up long before they crack.
Colonel Blake: Did Hawkeye steal that jeep?
Radar: No sir, that's the one he came in.
When Radar shipped a Jeep back home a piece at a time ! 😆 Or the time Klinger tried to eat a Jeep !

Hey Taryl, have you ever seen or had a 1980's HOVER MOWER made by Allen? That would make a great oddity subject for your channel!
Love watching you in the new shop taryl must feel great to come so far I have watched you for quite awhile and I'm happy to see what you have accomplished so far great job buddy keep making great videos.
Does the horn work? “Jeep! Jeep!”

Love that so cool
