My Dad on steel, Shobud made that steel right after Mel won Entertainer of the year, Tyler Hall has it now, I was there with dad that day filming. It was done at the back studio at the opry.
johnny Cash was there that day too. i was at vending machine. and Cash was waiting around, so he bought me a candy bar out of the machine.. he was really nice guy

I look at your dad like the Joe Satriani of the steel guitar. What a musician

Stutterin' boy was never better than in this classic with his kid. Mel Tellis is a gem, his music makes you tap your feet. He's written a million good ones for everyone, but he was a classic on his own. Not forgotten.

I've been a fan of Pam Tillis since I heard her first song.. A family friend played the fiddle for her and her father at one time.. Seeing Pam preform here singing behind her father has given me a new love for her. I grew up in family business,, so rock on...!!! A word for Mel,,,, keep on singin & a jokin.... "MOST RESPECT""

A #1 hit for Mel Tillis on the Country & Western charts. It was the 389th #1 C&W song of the Rock Era. It also hit #1 on the Canadian C&W charts. On a personal note, I saw Pam Tillis in February 1996 at the now closed Greenwood Civic Center (SC). Collin Raye and Jeff Carson opened.

I have had the good fortune of working in the country music industry as an audio engineer during the best of the times. I mixed for Mel and the Statesiders many times. It's truly a shame what the want mores have done to the country music industry. Sure..there is a lot of money to be made but you know what? They RUINED it. when I'm old and feeble laying on my death bed I will take some very fond memories with me. Because I was there.

monmixer I couldn't agree more. I grew up listening to country music in the 1960's, '70's and '80's. Stopped listening in the mid-late 1990's and every year since then country radio has gotten progressively worse.

There needs to be a traditionalist movement brought in to revive the roots of country music. It's definitely lost its way.
