Being a stutterer my self I wrote to Mel and received a 2 page handwritten response from Mel who is a giant in the country music business and a mega- lovely man who has inspired millions of people with a speech impediment by this giant. Mel- your fans love you and will miss you but we still have your recordings and videos like this one that show your wicked sense of humor! 5:06
@@dovy707 Well, with all do respect, the left won't show us. It was done to secure the stars talent & spots. Then it was done to oppress our happiness. Then it was done because Gay wanted to be stars. Then it done to silence real hearted music. Now country music isn't what it should be. I removed ALL of my material. I'm not a LEFT supporter, and my comments reflected it. The result was shadowbanned. No one seen my material. Or thumbed it up. I got insulted instead by left wingers attacking my page. Sad world we live in. But when bad people control our world, we'll have nothing but CRAP in it to live with.
I love this era of country music. Not only for the fact that music is so good but for how all these singers were so dang funny. Mel Tillis, Merle, Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash and so on. They were always joking around. Reminds me of my Dad.
Mel had the best stories. I was blessed to see Roy Crk in concert about 4 years before he left us. RIP all of you great gentlemen from Canada 🇨🇦❤️🇺🇸🙏🕊🎵🎵 Your music lives on forever as well as your comed routines.
I had a Horrible stutter that I was grateful to get rid of (mostly.) But when I hear people like Mel speak, I feel heart broken that they weren't able to get past it as well...
Mel seemed fine with it as far as we know. As he says, he made a lot of money. I always think it's amazing that Mel and others with speech impediments sing like birds. I guess Job chap 1 v 21
@@scottrackley4457 yeah, I didn't even think about this situation of people who studder when they speak but can sing fine, I wonder why that is... it's odd
As a lifetime stutterer .... m-m-m-myself. With me, it comes and goes. Somedays I don't stutter at all and other days I'm f-f-f-full of it. I'm the first one to make fun of my speech impediment :D
@@emmalouie1663 it's actually the brain using different parts to do each task. Singing and speaking are handled differently, so whatever wiring might cause stuttering or stammering when speaking aren't used, or are bypassed, when singing. The same can happen with just reading aloud from something written down, same outcome (mouth makes words), but different parts of the brain doing the work
I am 27 and still have a severe stutter, but let me tell you. Karaoke night is my jam. I was an air traffic controller in the Airforce and I was golden because I don’t stutter unless it’s a face to face conversation
Hey Baby...w-w-why don't you give your 'ol-'ol-'ol horse a rest...Cuz' there ain't no use in us...ttt-trying to wear out your brand new sss-saddle. Then Mel belts out: "Well...I got the Horse and you got the Saddle. We like to ride side by side." The Best! Thank God for musicians like of Mel Tillis, Roy Clark, and Glen Campbell. The list can go on and on...for sure. But the best of them were sitting right there together in this show!
4:02, Well I stutter. Mel was a great singer and absolutely hilarious. Who remembers, " I can't see shit can you?" He was with Terry Bradshaw at the time.
It's amazing how Mel overcame that bad stutter. He became not just a successful songwriter and singer, but also an all-around entertainment personality. Andthe stutter never went away!
Mel sure seemed like a fun guy to be around. He seems to take his stuttering issue in stride and even pokes some lighthearted fun at it, joking about recording a sermon.

In answer to George Jones' question, "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes, no one ever fill the shoes of these three legends.

What a charmer, turned that stutter into something endearing, if that makes sense. Sang great, too.
I was expecting Glen Campbell to say "from people I don't even know" after what he said at 0:32 .
Well done, sir. 😅
He Is So Handsome Rip Mel
I just want to say one thing.
We’re closed!!!!
Mel Tillis still had a great presence even though he had that stutter.
Mel broke-through with his Superpower called God’s love.
What was the name of the song Mel was referring to as the b-side the became a hit?
I think its called Gator Bar.
Mel said that if the Lord called him to preach that he couldn't do it. That's the same thing that Ma-ma-ma-Moses said
Yep
I stutter too man.
Yeah he would
Haha
Roy wore that hat on purpose
Mel should make fun of
that hat Roy has on
