Thanks for checking out the Sonor Drums AQX Drum Kits with us! Stay in the groove with great drum videos like this one when you like, comment, and subscribe!
Is there much difference between the jungle and the micro? I can hear the difference mic'd, but is there much difference acoustic? I bought the micro, but am returning it, because it feels and sounds too small to me. I liked all the all pieces, so figured I would just go up to the jungle., but if there is not much difference, maybe I need something 18".
Sweetwater picked the perfect person to demo their drums. He makes me wanna buy every set he demos. I don't even wanna see anyone else demo drums. And who is that on the keys!!!!!
I just ordered the AQX Jungle kit from Sweetwater, partially because of Nick's videos and partly because of all the time Ryan (Sweetwater advisor) spent on the phone with me. I compared the kits from Ludwig, Tama, PDP, and SONOR. Dollar for dollar, I think this is best of the four. Excellent sound, quality, and value. Can't wait to get my hands on it! Thanks, Nick and Ryan.
are you still using it today or did you change over to one of the other brands? I am looking into Gretch Catalina compared to Sonor, PDP Daru JOnes, Pearl Midtown, Tama club kit, Ludwig now....really not sure which one will have the longterm good feel above the others to wanna play it in ten years still and that have the quality that hold up as well... any advice would be highly appreciated! thanks
Nick! Man I’ve watched many product videos you’ve been in and am always impressed but you really showed how cool you are in this one. Ordered a jungle kit tonight. Y’all should lay that first track down. I’d listen for sure.
Wow that intro is a chop fest, What a player! 😯 I’ve had this kit a few weeks now and it had taken be my surprise. I have the Jungle (the middle size) and It can sound like a regular kit. The kick is the what makes everything work for me, It is very weighty and driving, I didn’t think that was possible at 16”.
I have an older version of the Jungle Kit.... Force 3007 and I really love it. It's currently my practice kit so I play it every day at home but I have gigged extensively with it playing various types of music. Thanks for the cool video...
@@ThruAWiderLens I have the Sonor Bop SE kit too in 'ruby red sparkle' finish. Great value for the money I see for the AQX Jazz kit they shortened the bass drum depth to 14" which is more manageable size both in footprint and sound. I found the bass drum in the Bop SE kit to be a bit 'boomy' in certain situations. I remedied that by cutting a small port in the reso head and putting a small towel up against the inside of the batter head now it's perfect.
@@thomasmoje5926 Agree completely on the size. I have a Sakae 18" x 14" BD and I love that size. Still, as you say, that Bop SE is very sweet for the price point!!!
I am glad they brought back the SE line(under a different name). I have all three of the SE line in poplar, Martini, Safari and Bop. They're a great value and sound great!
@@kondko What was the point of taking them off production to replace them with maple only versions at higher price points? I think Sonor may have realized their mistake of removing the SE line.
@@lisao6928 I owned both previous versions of this kit, the Martini(Micro) and the Safari(Jungle). Both were the same shell composition, poplar. The Jungle is going to have a bit beefed sound but with the right mics, the Micro can surprise a lot of people.
Those micro kits are nice for students, A second for drummer hauling drums for practice to another band members house or small area gigs. Usually you can mount the snare on the hi hat stand and go with ride mounted on bass drum, cuts weight.
There are guys with 15 piece drum sets on double racks that can't play anywhere near as good as this guy can on a small jazz kit lol. Size doesn't always matter here. Talent can make anything sound amazing.
If you can choose between owning all of those Sonor kits (or any kit whatsoever), or having Nick´s chops... i choose the chops and keep playing on my old faded Pearl Forum
Nick's Drum reviews are quickly becoming some of my favorite. I literally just came here from another review of same drums and it was Heavily..."not quite as real" you might say. Love getting review on all 3-otions here in 1-vid too! Only owned 1-Sonor kit, in which I bought an entry level used to do a Really Cool re-Wrap on and I saved that set, But very much would like to try an affordable players kit like this someday so Thanks Nick & Sweetwater!...
I have the sonor bop which is exactly similar to the jazz. Love it! What the difference in this model vs my sonor Bop kit? Also how do you have the bass drum beater kick set up? Thanks awesome video!
You always amaze with what you come up with to demonstrate all of what a drum kit is capable of and make it shine. You make one want to play drums. Every time I watch you play in a demo video I end up hearing a groove that ends too soon and I end up behind my own drumkit and being the beautiful sound of Sonor drums a brand that I own play myself made it even better. You make me want to be a better drummer.
I have a Sonor kit that predates these (can't recall the name) it BD 16"X16" FT "12"14" TT 7"x10"... It's a Force 3007 ... I've gigged with it and use it with mesh heads for practice at home. It's an awesome kit.
The fear for me with those small kicks on the riser is my heavy foot. Feel like I'd break it. But that jazz with some coated g2s would sound sweeeeeeeeeet
So the AQX just came out? I was about to order a Yamaha stage custom bop kit but now I am leaning towards Sonor. There aren’t many reviews yet so how does this compare to Yamaha?
The stage custom is made out of birch and these are poplar wood, there might not be a lot of reviews because these haven't come out yet. Honestly it's whatever you want but I think they all sound great(the stage custom birch is great too!).
Hi Nick are you using a lift for the bop kit and if not is your pedal beater hitting dead center thanks for any help you can provide because it looks your bass drum is sitting perfect your I can’t seem to get mine right
for mini set..i love this sonor...i have my pdp new yorker and tama club jam vintage..but this sonor is awesome..specialy the aqx jazz...is this made in germany too?

This is the most absurdly over the top product demo and I absolutely love it. Insanely good playing.

My god, that opening performance was absolutely killer! You guys really took it up like 3 notches here!
Nick is such a tallented prog rock player!
And a talented presenter too!
@@soulslaveone Guy is a pro.
I was looking at these drums for a while and thank you Sweetwater for making this awesome video
Thanks for checking it out, Professor! 👍
Nick is the man who can play it all. His game is versatility.
Nick's playing and personality always put me in a good mood.
I typically love big drums. My rack being 13" and my ft 16" with a 22" kick but I'm loving all the killer tones of these kits.

Wow what, wasn't expecting this kind of jam, amazing.
Is the Sweetwater jam band having shows?? I'd be front row!!
Congratulations on 500K subscribers guys. You’re the best in the business and you deserve the success.
Dude the guy at the back is killing it! Loved every second of this demo
That jungle kit is magnificent
cool drums, but we all gotta appreciate how clean that roll at 0:10 was, great stuff👌 !
Wow. Nick! Love the way you effortlessly slid behind each kit and slammed! Musically! Well done. Thx.
brilliant drummer, presenter and salesman! what a guy
AWESOME playing Nick !! You make ANY kit sound good !
Awesome demo, and music !
Mr. Di Virgilio never disappoints, and that keyboard player is superb 💪
Yes such a talented drummer with a very friendly manner. Always enjoy the Sweetwater demos!
Sonor quality shining through even at this entry level. Nick great as always!
Damn! That Uptown Ride sounds superb! All those drums sound awesome. And those Sabians and Meinls sound perfect, there's no other word that fits.
Dude.
Great sounding drums!
Played by without a doubt one of *the most versatile* guys playing drums today.
Nick "Sonar' De Virgilio ... Man great Job Nick !!! great concept of presenting these fine drums . Your playing was really awesome !
This is the best drum review Ive ever seen. By far. This is how U do it!:)
I so agree! Beautifully executed and real.

Amazing drum like the sound of the snare aspecially
Loved those swiss triplets played on the jazz kit
Jojo Mayer called and want his drums back!

The drums sound as good as their handler. Wow! This was entertainment.

Had to double check what video I was watching because I couldn't tell if this was a drum kit showcase or a clip from the Modern Drummer Festival!
Coated top clear bottom. Evens G1. I tried 2 ply. 10” dead. Had tension way up. I tried a attack thin skin. 12.5 ml.
