Taking a chance it will all go smoothly Scott decides to film the process and run you through how he goes about solo launch and retrieve.
Boat in the water and Scotty runs trough the trailer set up and why this boat is so easy to handle.

Nicely launched and retrieved Scott. Trouble free boating for years fella. I use a hook on my safety chain for simplicity. Also use a turn buckle as Scott Everett suggested too. Cheers

Good vid! Long rope, trailer in right depth is key. Solo launches and retrieval is the number one thing that gets me anxious when boating. Strongish crosswinds or currents make life a bit challenging but it’s doable. All about a good rope to play the boat in I reckon. Top vid!

Great video showing how easy it is to self launch if you are prepared and plan properly.
Seen far too many people get to the ramp and panic, can make a right mess of it.
Would be interested to see how you get on with a strong cross wind with the trailer so far into the water.
My guess is you would have to have the trailer further out of the water in this situation.

    • @Saltfix

Has anyone ever come up to you asking you to pull the boat out without the safety chain? Happened to me at a busy boat ramp around Xmas. Laterally took me under a few mins from the pontoon to get the boat wrenched up. A guy came up to me and said get your boat out of water and put on the safety chain in the car park! You are holding up others!

Get yourself a turn buckle for the chain too. It keeps the weight off the winch and the boat won't move around when the rope squashes down on the winch spool.

How do you like your trailer after 2 years? Mine uses rollers and skids. One of the pain points which you have also highlighted is you need to line it up because it does not self align. Skid trailer suitable for alloy boats?
