A couple of minor points: - Hall's Harbour. It sounded like it was pronounced Hell's Harbour. - Grand Pré: drop the hard d in Grand and Pré sounds like pray. - The Acadians were not persecuted as such. Under British rule, until the 1750s, the Acadians flourished and were generally left alone. Tensions and then war with France led to the sudden deportation of the Acadians. - Although Pictou and area claim to be the birthplace of New Scotland that is not really the case. That claim can actually be made by Annapolis Royal where the Scots settled, under Sir William Alexander's colonial scheme, in the late 1620s. The ruins of Charles Fort are located beneath Fort Anne.

I only had a week in the province, that's why. Cape Breton is a trip itself. Regardless, I'm so glad you enjoyed watching the video. Please do share with your friends and family.
Hey Mary Lou,That's an entirely different trip and already gets a lot of coverage. I tried to highlight a few lesser known areas/activities. Hope you enjoyed the video non-the-less. Cheers, Mike
The people of 17th century Grand Prey were burned to death the ones whom got out moved to the south Acadian as the English say became Cagain and that word came from the indigenous word Eqedia meaning people of the land.
the word cajun derives from the old way of saying acadian as "acadjun" ( the "dj" being pronounced like j). That is the old acadian way of saying the word. Eventually the a was dropped to just form the word cajun.
It's Grand Pré, not Grand Prey. You are totally wrong about what happened to the Acadians. No one was "burned to death'. The Acadians were rounded up and placed on ships and deported to the other British North American colonies in the initial deportations. Later, more Acadians were deported, throughout the Seven Years War, to England and France. Those who later immigrated to Louisiana became known as Cajuns (not Cagain). Eqedia? Do you mean Acadia.
You forgot the best place in the province. SOU WEST NOVA SCOTIA. Cape Sable Island has thee most beautiful beaches in the World. We are also the Lobster Capital of the World!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can only do so much in a week. I thank you for your suggestions and for watching though. Hope you'll check out some of my newer videos. Cheers, Mike
Did you even know the familie of the person whose graves are visible in your video? Making pictures or video's of graveyards and gravestones is disrespectful to the people who died and their families. Maybe that's an opinion in your eyes but it's fact for my entire familie and my friends's families. It's in my eyes on the same level as walking over someones grave, it's just something you don't do.
@@MissToya666 Lighten up ! Gravestones are memorials and historical where one goes to to respectfully memorialize ! What else is a memorial good for ? What do you put flowers on...your toilet maybe ?
watch out for all the local fat people. There's a lot of them. And then you can breath in the second hand smoke since every other Nova Scotian seems to smoke. It's like a trip back to the 70's.
What are you talking about. Aren't you just describing what is seen across the USA, Canada, and many other nations. As for smoking that rates are dropping. Also, in Halifax or instance, it is illegal to smoke in public with the exception of a few very small out of the way places that are designed smoking areas.
@@RoadTripTravel carriage horses forced to walk on pavement, breaks down hoives for hours at a time. Forced to go hours without water. Forced to work in extreme heat and cold for fear of being whipped. The horse is a prey animal, the holding of the whip is a direct threat. Pathetic. People think it's so cool, some of these animals are forced to walk city streets from morning until nightin traffic, breath ing fumes, overheated. I do not visit cities that promote abuse.
@@tigertalks1567 Pardon me, you are the ignorant one. You don't complain to a content creator, complain to someone who can champion your concern. What on earth would motivate you to leave such a comment on a travel video? It's so bizarre how you would zero in on a 1-2 second clip out of a 10 minute video. Maybe you should get a life and go see the world. BTW, you're entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts. Those horses are very well cared for. They have special equipment to walk on the pavement, so I think you need to get your facts right before spewing your baseless opinions.

From America....can you drive a car to Nova Scotia ?
Yes, you would go through Maine, New Brunswick and then into Nova Scotia.
how could you show case nova scotia, without even a mention of cape breton island,, louisburg,, cabot trail,,,mine museum etc,,, ohh its sponcered by the nova govt,,, thats why,,,
I only had a week in the province, that's why. Cape Breton is a trip itself. Regardless, I'm so glad you enjoyed watching the video. Please do share with your friends and family.
Mike's Road Trip do Cape breton
yes but what is the name of it
You missed the northern half of the province more precisely the stunning island of Cape Breton... pity !
dennis schwartzentruber Indeed I did. Only had a week. Hope you enjoyed the video nonetheless. Cheers, Mike
I live there
Home of Joseph Strickland
You missed the absolute best part of Nova Scotia....Cape Breton
Hey Mary Lou,That's an entirely different trip and already gets a lot of coverage. I tried to highlight a few lesser known areas/activities. Hope you enjoyed the video non-the-less. Cheers, Mike
The people of 17th century Grand Prey were burned to death the ones whom got out moved to the south Acadian as the English say became Cagain and that word came from the indigenous word Eqedia meaning people of the land.
Jason Crossland Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
the word cajun derives from the old way of saying acadian as "acadjun" ( the "dj" being pronounced like j).
Cheers, Mike
ok you need maps
The sand and water colour is a turnoff
If you say so "Child of God." It's not a tropical destination.
Grand Pre pronounced Grand Pray ......... !
1silvervespa Oh, okay. So, did you enjoy the video?
Bruh I live in Lunenburg and this is just weird seeing someone film it is weird
Filming in a graveyard?? That's just disrespectful
MissToya666 Give me a break! Really? How’s that? Everyone is entitled to an opinion I suppose.
South Hill Farm Great tips, thank you so much for sharing.
What are you talking about. Aren't you just describing what is seen across the USA, Canada, and many other nations. As for smoking that rates are dropping. Also, in Halifax or instance, it is illegal to smoke in public with the exception of a few very small out of the way places that are designed smoking areas.
Those poor abused horses for tourists, won't be visiting. Off my list. Bye
Cynthia Black What are you talking about???
@@RoadTripTravel carriage horses forced to walk on pavement, breaks down hoives for hours at a time. Forced to go hours without water. Forced to work in extreme heat and cold for fear of being whipped. The horse is a prey animal, the holding of the whip is a direct threat. Pathetic. People think it's so cool, some of these animals are forced to walk city streets from morning until nightin traffic, breath ing fumes, overheated. I do not visit cities that promote abuse.
Cynthia Black I cannot believe that is your takeaway. That was a 2 second shot of a 10 minute video.
@@RoadTripTravel omg..thats what they do. Do your research. Ignorance.
I live there
BlueVolcano Lucky you. Great place
