      @Sharon Newman There is no need to be disrespectful. Just because you are close minded doesn't mean you have to spew your hate on those who differ in opinion/lifestyles from you. Men wear makeup all the time, newscasters, anchormen, actors, male models, singers, the list goes on and on whether you realize it or not. Makeup is fun, makeup improves peoples confidence, makeup is a great way to express yourself,why does it matter if it's a male or female whose wearing it? What other people put on their face have absolutely no impact on your life at all. Be peaceful, be kind, I promise your life will be much better when you stop focusing your negativity on others and find the true root of wherever all this hate is coming from.
      Gipson, keep doing you I bet you look amazing with and without makeup. Don't let others get you down:)

    Because of my age, I’ll b 60 in 2 months, I have started using cream sticks on my lid bc when I apply a beautiful shade on my lid that’s powder it starts to transfer to crease shade so I started with shadow sticks and I love them but only on my lids and lash line, they are fantastic !! Love this video and def picked up a milk blush bc I need a cream blush

    I relate so much to being tired of and unimpressed on seeing these many new launches. The colours all look similar to something we've seen before. Now it's just a matter of knowing which colours work for me and picking a formula I like and my stash stops at that.
    I'm glad you're such a strong advocate for cream products. I personally don't use any base (just skincare) and could never make powders work on top of it. Adding cream blushes and bronzers turned out fabulous! 😄

    Beautiful recommendations! I think MAC got lost with new hyped products. With temporary hype, people tend to forget classics. Strobe cream is one staple in my collection, nothing like it!

      I feel like MAC is still very much a staple in makeup artists kits as well as very loved with women in their late 20s and onward since Mac was pretty much there with them since the beginning.

    • @vibhab191
      @vibhab191 4 роки тому +2

      Parps I agree with you, it’s definitely staple with makeup artists. Not sure about women in late 20s. I’m in late 20s and started wearing makeup a couple of years ago. I started with drugstore products and now have found my staples (both drugstore and high end) and I don’t experiment much. Maybe if I started with MAC, I would never try other brands

    • @vibhab191
      @vibhab191 4 роки тому

      Mjcds95 C That’s the problem! The drugstore dupes are really expensive for the amount you get. I’ve seen people using L’Oréal Lumi Glotion as a dupe for strobe cream but you get way less product in L’Oréal one. Try buying it in discount or sale maybe?

    I would add... I bought Face & Body because of Shelbey talking about how great it is and when I first got it I was at a loss because the application is different. So I just set it aside and used other foundations! But I went back and tried it again... I honestly now don’t think I could quit using it! I love the finish and it is so natural!
    LM Caiver Sticks again are amazing! One of my favs along with the ones mentioned, that I own, is Au Natural! I use this with Caramel! (If you Google these sticks a video showing Shelbey pops up too 🌟)

      That Armani power stretch concealer is amazing and worth every penny, I had some samples of it and used them up completely and immediately ordered a full size. I'll be 49 in January (yikes) and I haven't had concealer apply that easy since I was in my 20s. I haven't tried the luminous silk foundation, but I do love the power stretch foundation.

    That are great picks, Shelby! Mac face and body is my HG foundation and I love that they have a white mixer - I have to mix white and N1. My perfect combination is the becca flpf, Mac f&b, bareminerals barepro concealer, Hourglass retouching fluid under my eyes Hourglass veil powder and the new Hourglass Ghost palette to finish my face. A dab of a scattered light eyeyshadow, eyebrow gel, Mascara und lipbalm.
    That is a high end routine but I rather have a few great products than a big medicore collection.

      Christina Fernandez is there a learning curve on application with this concealer? I’m having a love/hate relationship with it! How do you apply it? Thank you!!!!

    • @christinafernandez243
      @christinafernandez243 4 роки тому +1

      Karen Head hi, sorry, just saw this. To be honest, I don’t mind a very natural/light coverage. I apply the corrector first with my finger. One tap into the product, and I can sometimes use that one tap for both eyes (dab on one eye, dab on the other, then start to blend them out). For the maracuja concealer in the wand, I apply 3-4 dots with the side of the wand (not the tip), then I blend it out with my foundation brush (real techniques buffing brush). I kind of just stipple it (bounce up and down, wherever I want coverage) until it’s all blended out. I don’t apply it directly under my eyes, I apply it more to the outer socket part (the part that dips a bit). The trick for me is to not use a lot. I use it to even my complexion and provide some coverage, while not drying out my under-eyes and avoiding creasing. Tara Lynn on UA-cam also loves the concealer, and u can see how she applies it too! I also sometimes use it like a sheer foundation, and just focus it lightly on the center of my face, and then blend outward. When I do this, I use cream products for my highlight, bronzer and blush, and that provides me “coverage” (enough distraction) on the outer parts of my face. If I have pimples/dark spots elsewhere, I just let them show through, I don’t bother concealing those types of things. If anything, I’ll apply light coverage, and do the Desi Perkins tip of turning the raised pimples into beauty marks (if they happen to be obvious).

    • @karenhead2482
      @karenhead2482 4 роки тому

      Christina Fernandez thank you so very much for taking the time for your detailed response! I’ll certainly check out the UA-camr you mentioned! Thank you, again, and Merry Christmas!

    This is a great video! Great advise. Paired with the drugstore one it is perfect.
    I have stopped buying eyeshadow pallets .... Unless I will use all the colors. I have not purchased one in 2 years. I have also just purged my collection of makeup and gotten ride of old unusable items. I am only buying what I need and will use up. I have switched to all cream /liquid blush and highlighter. Im so happy with them!
    Next is cream eyeshadows. Saving up for those Cavier sticks!!!
    I have been wearing Buxum forever as well. I may have owned almost all the colors??? I waited for 4 months to buy the color Erin because it was sold out FOREVER! In the mean time purchased 3 others to get me through not having it! Lol! The Cream line is my favorite.

      Any brand that sells in China tests on animals because of Chinese law

    • @ciaraharrison4783
      @ciaraharrison4783 4 роки тому +6

      Katy McDonald Yah I read that online a few years ago, but I’ll still silently pray that the law will be lifted so that so many brands become cruelty free (even though I know it’s unlikely to happen)

    • @katymcdonald5481
      @katymcdonald5481 4 роки тому +12

      Ciara Harrison yeah it’s an anti trade law, products produced in China don’t have to test on animals but anything they import does. Large brands are getting around it by starting to set up Chinese operations that only produce for the Chinese market and don’t import. Dior is doing this now.
      I doubt China will change the law because it forces large companies to manufacture in China and creates investment and growth in their economy.

    I am so in alignment with you on mascara. It is strongly suggested that they be replaced every three months and I would echo that sentiment with liquid eye liner. Having had several eye surgeries, I refuse to purchase anything other than the drugstore brands or maybe Sephora if I catch a sale or gift set. Personally I replace mine every six weeks as I am definitely not interested in problems, now that I've been given the okay to wear eye makeup again. Loved this post, great selections.

    Ditto on Laura Mercier Caviar sticks - have a medical condition that makes me dry inside and out; powder shadows look (and feel) super weird, now, on my eyelids. I also love the Butter London serum shadow. I picked up their cream stick (d/c?) shadows for $4 at Kohl's - haven't tried them, yet. Have loved F&B forever and have such an old Studio Finish concealer (that I should probably throw out) that it has a screw top lid. . .I still have their old, red gel blush, long d/c, also in that glass screw top jar. They last forever. Mac should get more love!

    I read a post once where a person with oily skin uses Mac face&body and has no issue with this technique. First apply with your hands, by rubbing the foundation until it becomes tacky, then apply to your face. Once you’re done applying, blot your face with paper towel/tissue, it will remove the excess oil, then set as usual. Hopefully it helps.

    Omg Shelby!! I have to tell you something! I just found what I believe is going to be an amazing affordable cream shadow stick! It is a very hard find though. It is this weird brand that I see in the Wegmans grocery store by my house. I live in the Boston area so I don’t know if you have Wegmans where you live. It is a European brand, Wegmans started in Europe so I guess that’s why they carry it. The brand is called Beyu and the product is called color biggie long lasting. They have a lip product that is called the same thing but it is clearly labeled that one is for the eyes and one is for lips. I thought of you when I saw them and I swatched one in the store that had already been opened. Then I bought a champagne shade. It swatches beautifully, so creamy and soft. I have no idea if it’s any good yet but they are $10. The swatch is better than any affordable cream shadow I’ve tried but we all know swatches are not dependable. If you have a Wegmans in your area will you consider reviewing this product please if you can find it?🙏
    I would love to hear your thoughts. I’m going to try it out for a little while and if I can get it to work then maybe I’ll send you one. I’m sure it’s very hard to find. I’ve noticed this brand at my Wegmans for a long time and have never bought anything, I just find it odd to buy makeup at a grocery store but I’ve always been curious because it is a European import. They sell E.L.F. And a few other makeup brands so I don’t know, I’ll give you an update but please consider looking into it. Thanks for all the great tips! Love your channel

    I’m in the process of re purchasing my products, and I have acne prone skin with redness, but I like a light foundation, something that doesn’t feel like I’m wearing anything, which once would you recommend to cover acne? Mac or the Dior one?
    This is a very helpful video, I like buying quality products that are wearable for everything and not get sucked into the black hole that is the makeup community; and I feel like with every release I don’t know what to buy anymore! Thankssss 🥰
    Ps: the foundation doesn’t have to cover everything, like you said I also like using a good concealer to help and not load my skin with product.

    Ultra hd is the best foundation I’ve ever tried! It’s so weird because it’s a lighter foundation but it evens the skin out so well! I just wish it had a tiny bit more coverage.I can get fuller coverage with a few extra dabs on the problem area so it works perfect for me :) I’ve been dying to try the ambient light blush palette 🎨

I love essence mascaras btw but they smudges too :/

      I mostly wear drugstore products, definitely for lips products, eyeshadows, mascaras, brow products, and typically blushes and highlighters as well. But for products that I actually work into the skin, I buy higher end, if you'd call Glossier high end (I would b/c of the price point). I just have incredibly sensitive skin with eczema and cystic acne, so I have to be really careful about what goes on my face, and unfortunately most drugstore products break me out. For liquid eyeliner though, since I have watery, hooded eyes and wear wings every single day despite living in Wisconsin where freezing sleet is always barreling at my face and powerwashing my makeup off, I buy that high end too (hello, Stila). It's really about what you prioritize. I prioritize skincare, face products, and liner so I'm willing to sacrifice on lipstick and eyeshadow. But if I didn't wear complexion and eye makeup and instead wore blush and a bold lip every day, I would be pickier about those products than I am.
