- It’s common to hear that the love of money is the root of all evil. It’s a commonly quoted verse that comes from 1 Timothy 6:10. The problem is we often misquote this verse.
We like to say “money is the root of all evil.” But that leaves out three very important words that change the meaning of this verse; Paul actually says: “the love of money is a root of all evil.” That’s quite the difference.
While we regularly misquote this verse, is it still very applicable for us today. Paul’s warning is very serious and one that we shouldn’t ignore. The love of money has cost people dearly.
The full verse says: “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” 1 Timothy 6:10
In this video I want to break down the 1 Timothy 6:10 meaning and see how it applies to our life.

Hi! I’m so happy I found your channel.
Really love how you break down the scriptures, learning and understanding the true meaning of the scriptures makes a lot of difference.
Thank you….
Does he have current videos?? He is good!
Thanks for this video. God revealed some behaviors about myself. 😊
I found your channel because I went looking for a news article I'd read a few weeks back, failed to find it and instead found your blog post "6 most commonly misquoted bible verses (went to your channel from there). Glad i found you! I really wanted to find how some far right pundit at some far right event (can't remeber who or which) completely misinterpreted a passaged saying that people should make demands of their government (the quote was actually saying the opposite, I wish I could find it b/c I can't remember it exactly!) Anyway, I've subscribed!

On top of that, I want to say that one of those 6 stood out to me b/c I thought it was one of those instances where the misinterpretation was better and the correct interpretation was worse. Philippians 4:13, people use it as motivation to get through something difficult and you claimed it was meant to be about being content even in difficult times. I think the "correct" interpretation is worse b/c it could train people to be accepting of things they shouldn't accept, like an abusive relationship or oppression in general.
Enjoying your teaching.Jonathan Dunai from India
I believe that it is the way you used the money and what for AMEN 🙏 🙌 AMEN 🙏 AMEN AMEN GOD 🙏 🙌
Very powerful
😊
When did you obtain grace for grace? Or receive the Holy Spirit? Your guarantee of your inheritance kept in heaven? When were you born again?
The word Paul SHOULD of chosen was " Obsession" bc that extreme level is always unhealthy but Love can be given healthy doses too
It didn't say it is a root but the root of all evil KJV sir.
No, no we don't misquote it. If you have to play mental gymnastics to avoid doing what Jesus straight up told you to, which is to give everything you have and deliberately be poor amongst the poor. That is, he advocated for communal living. He made it incredibly clear that money is worth nothing beyond paying taxes or buying food. He FREAKING SAID: "YOU CANNOT SERVE BOTH GOD AND MONEY"!!!! But noooo, you think your personal choice of interpretation excuses you. Just wait until Jesus lets you know you haven't helped anyone, so you haven't helped him.
My kjv and nlt say the root not a root. Your a False teacher. I knew you was false when I look at the thumbnail.
