For some reason I always believed they have some anti armor bonus damage to make them a bit more worth it, but apparently they're super worthless, not worth the 12 gold
Keep in mind, that while they might do less damage than archers per shot, they shoot twice as fast as European archers (Arab archers shoot faster but still slower than slingers and cost five times as much). They are also very quick. They're more of an ambush/emergency respond unit and they do that job well. If you can keep them in cover and rush an archer group, they will demolish them. If they kite slow units like pikemen or swordsmen, they will out-DPS archers. Just don't use them as traditional attack or defense units.
I use slingers in early stages if in desperate need, they are basically pretty useful if used correctly. In some cases, I even use them to harass farms and other industrial buildings.
think of them as an extremely cheap horse archer .. the fill that role amazingly ..if in a mission you get 3k gold at start and you want early pressure .. you can buy 37 horse archers ,, or 250 slingers .. 250 slingers can destroy enemy economy faster than 37 horse archers .. you just have to control them better .
Remember that you have in this game option to miss arrows. So arabs/slingers get huge advantage over classic european archers when moving, you basicly can avoid every arrow.
Nice video but doesn't take into account the fire rate, thus it would be interesting to make a series of videos that show the time needed to kill each unit similar to the fire resistance video.
All things considered, monks are an excellent investment for all but their movement speed and arrow resistance. Even the low speed can be circumvented to an extent by aggressive stance in which they run fast towards the enemy. 10/10 would pay 10 gold again.
Movement speed is actually not that bad. I mean yes, it is slow, but there are only three melee units that run. Macemen, knights and slaves. Assassins have the highest walking speed from the remaining melee units. Monks will match everyone else. So all in all their movement speed is still a great investment. Plus their attack speed would make them ridiculously OP if they were any quicker.
Did you honestly manually count all of the shots for Lords and Shields or is there some kind of program? Because if there isn't.... Rest in peace x1000 times 200 speed.
For counting I used 10 Slingers up until the lords/shields were nearly death. For the last shots I used one. After that, I repeated it some times to get sure that the number ist right. To count to 195 and after that 50 more ist much more possible than to count up to 2000 ^^

Slingers need 83 shots, which is awesome. Archer cost 3x slinger. So slingers needs 28 shots to kill swordsmen. Thats 6x faster than archers. Archers need 50 shots to kill pikeman , slingers need 100. But slingers shots 2x faster so they need 50 shots too. And 3x lower cost gives you 3x faster killing pikeman. Unarmored units same are eazier to kill.2. Slingers have one more unique advanced. They are many of them.They can protect your towers,walls,lord by just being, providing health points, and trying to meelee enemy.They stack preety well in 1 place, so they can deal much meelee dmg. 3. True, slingers are worst in few cases. They have much lower range, but its still huge range. They are weak against shooters, thats they only weakness.
Hallo Udwin. Machst duzu noch ein zusammenfassendes Video mit z.B. einer Tabelle wo du die Shots per Unit, und wieviel zeit Sie dafür brauchen, vergleichst? (Da Slinger z.B. ja schneller schiessen als andere Einheiten). Das wäre echt Gold wert!

No. You can kill any enemy if you have enough slingers. You have to use quite many but they will be strong 😊

These guys have REALLY weird damage tables, swordsmen have half the health as pikemen but took way more to kill.
