A playthrough of Assassins Creed with normal and funny commentary? Finally. I absolutely love how casual you are this video, it's a good breath of fresh air from all of those monotone commentary videos about how this game is an "old gem" or people flexing their parkour skill to people who say "AC1 is slow".
This video unlocked some good memories, my first AC was Brotherhood and I loved it so much I had to try every previous opus The first one felt quite janky but I loved the story and idk it felt fun despite how repetitive it was
RakRakGaming did a similar challenge a few months back where they played the game as a true assassin (minimum detection hidden blade only). It’s cool to see someone else’s take on the hidden blade challenge.
This video made me realise that my memories of this game are accurate and that it's actually a really pretty looking game; I feel like ever since this, the diminishing returns on graphics have been crazy.
This is the only challenge you’ve ever done I think I could do. When I originally played the assassins creed games I just didn’t deal with swapping weapons because the hidden blade is so much more fun to hit timing windows with.
Fantastic video! As the other comments say, the hidden blades are actually the most powerful weapons (at least up to AC Revelations) due to them being able to counter every weapon, albeit having as much smaller counter window. I remember that in AC Brotherhood there used to be Trials that you could do and one of them was how many combat kills you could get with only the hidden blades and the enemies would slowly ramp up to difficulty up to the Papal guards themselves. An interesting playthrough I did once in Brotherhood was trying to complete the game by disarming every enemy and using their weapon to kill them. I don't remember how far I got into the game but it would be pretty interesting imho.
This just made me realize how great 2007 was for gaming. In one year we got Assassin’s Creed, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Team Fortress 2, Crysis, CoD: Modern Warfare, and Lego Star Wars: The complete saga among others. I don’t think it can get much better and historic than that
Aww yeah, let's go! The feeling of gathering information on your target and location before the assassination was great in the OG even if the missions became repetitive.
I was actually getting the itch to replay some of the older games lately, but I traded them all away when I got rid of my old consoles and moved to PC. That, and I didn't feel like giving Ubisoft any of my money. That said, I would like to see more of your challenge runs in this series, mostly because your humor makes everything better. I haven't heard you say "Carl cut the camera" in a while and it caught me off guard, gave me a good chuckle.
You should do the rest of the series, but pick a different weapon for each game. For 2 it could be throwing knives, Brotherhood only weapons retrieved from enemies, etc.
Good video! Surprised to see assassains creed here especially because I started playing the series all over again. Glad I'm not the only one who does the "Cutscene Spin"
What a wonderful trip down memory lane. And if you wanted to you might be able to get away with a ‘firebomb’ only run in revelations since you have so many fun throwable weapons
Do one for AC2, i love this franchise and miss seeing the old games on youtube, so please do more. This tickled me pink with how good these games used to be
What a blast from the past seeing the first AC game again. Great run Lemon. I remember rushing to the nearest electronics store during my lunch break to get the game day 1. I was even able to pick up the CE with the Altair figurine (which i still have). Had so much fun with the game especially the parcour parts which was pretty innovative for that time as well as enjoying the views from high above. Game sure is flawed but it was the first entry in the formula. Played AC 2 when it came out as well then my PS3 broke and although i had Brotherhood i never came around playing it and never returned to the series as well.
It was really fun. Been a long time since I played this game. A trip down memory lane even for me. Used to watch an other youtuber, Stabguy36, for trick kills and strategies (while in the first game you can't do air assassination, you can, however, run from a certain high under a certain distance to do a sort of "running jump assassination"). But considering how it is much more easier to use the hidden bladesin the next games, and also the fact that there is a bunch of sequels, I would rather you do AC2 and/or Ac unity next. AC2 is a must, after all, and as far as I know in Unity the hidden blade has been devolved to just an assassination tool, rather then being a weapon on its own.
Great video, as always. I would definitely like to see you try the rest of the series with these rules, however, as many people pointed out, it might be to easy. So why not go the Batman path and use only your fists? (Except for the mandatory targets obviously)
Oh thank god, a new Backlogs video. I can’t tell you how badly I needed this today. Just found out I’m gonna have to find a new job because corporate gutted management and are shutting down my jobs branch
Man... I wish we could get AC1-3 all over again from Ubisoft. Even AC Unity wasn't that bad. But the online modes from Brotherhood, Revelations, and AC3 was the best online modes I've ever played.
I think if you do Assassin's Creed II, I will probably cry seeing those cutscenes again. ACII moved me in a way no game really has since. Such a brilliant piece of art. Revelations Bomb Only when?
I enjoy all your videos, this one included. I just had a hard time seeing where the challenge was here. Like for me the most interesting part is thinking "how the hell is he going to overcome this obstacle" and so on
Hey lemon you can abuse the whole lock on focus thing in AC2 and toggle your lock on between enemies. They don't put their guard up for a split second so if you toggle onto someone else, assassinate them, then toggle back the origional enemy's guard will not be down. If I recall correctly I got it to work in AC1 as well though I could be misremembering since I was a kid back then
before watching, yes I've done it, was so surprised with the final boss I did it as a kid on my first run cause my friend said it was harder to use and I liked the one shooting.
If you do the minimum number of investigations to unlock the assassination, you'll only receive three pieces of intel in your memory log. These include detailed information about what the target will do, who is protecting him, how to reach him, and how to get out. If you get all five you'll be fully prepared to make a smooth infiltration plan. Almost any assassination that seems to require combat is probably a stealth puzzle that can only be solved by reading these. If you don't do this, what you're playing isn't Assassin's Creed, it's a different game entirely When you assassinate a cowering or taunting enemy, *another* guard will be chosen to cower, and you can assassinate him too. You'll only have enough time if you unlock from combat entirely to slip between guards or other obstacles and reach him more easily, then let go of right trigger at the last second to perform a faster animation. Enabling the "hold to lock" setting makes this easier. After that, a third guard will cower, and as long as you keep up consistent assassinations this train of fear will continue to chain from one guard to the next until they all panic and run away, so you don't really have to fight after you get one kill. This is absolutely game-breaking and why hidden blade only is the *most* effective way to fight, and in order to engage with the game's other mechanics, you have to restrict yourself from over-relying on it. Check my shock and awe playlist for some examples if you're still confused You can make beggars flee by drawing a blade, but that might be bending the rules for this run. Punching can also help and is moderately effective against maniacs, but only if you absolutely cannot avoid their trigger radius If you're getting bored of chasing around waypoints, which you will, you can find every objective organically by going in the directions the rafiq tells you in the briefing and looking for the landmark he mentions. It helps to have Wiktionary open so you can parse the Arabic, and you may want to take notes or refer back to a recording so you don't forget. Once you get there, listening to the streets and watching for suspicious behavior will reveal your objectives. Heralds saying weird things, people acting shifty, informants watching for you on street corners, all of these things are clues that can be spotted if you're paying attention. When in doubt, scan with Eagle Vision. The game was designed to be played with no HUD at all. Saving citizens can also help to clear up the noise pollution, and you can find the bureau by its green, onion-shaped tower When you're having trouble and piling up too many corpses, go do something else and they'll despawn when you come back. In emergencies you can bypass as many investigating guards with their swords drawn as you want while standing as close as you want as long as you're blending. If you need to kill them, walk around behind them first, and once you're outside their 10 meter detection radius *and* the 10 meter crime scene around the corpse, you're in the clear and can walk away. Later on when you become permanently notorious you have to do this even when there are no bodies on the ground You *can* air assassinate in AC1, you just have to be within a very short vertical distance, the same height from which you can drop off small ledges by running at them. You can actually get quite a bit of horizontal range out of it, though. It helps to be locked on and running towards the edge. I think with Majd Addin you just did it too late. There are also a couple weird variants that only work in AC1: One where you pull yourself up form a ledge and press attack while locked on, but only against guards facing away, and one where you land on a nearby ledge where the roof connects from your position to your target's and mash attack while locked on, except this time they can be facing you. These work from pretty far and can be used to create some crazy-looking lunge ambushes. Opportunities for the second one actually come up quite often once you know what to look for Fun fact: Brainwashed Assassins and Al Mualim's illusions do not feel fear and never taunt I also recommend the wiki page "Crpytic Messages" to get a good start on Subject 16's writings. This vid probably could’ve been condensed a bit, but “get back here and finish what I started! is a great line.
This video unlocked some good memories, my first AC was Brotherhood and I loved it so much I had to try every previous opus
The first one felt quite janky but I loved the story and idk it felt fun despite how repetitive it was
RakRakGaming did a similar challenge a few months back where they played the game as a true assassin (minimum detection hidden blade only). It’s cool to see someone else’s take on the hidden blade challenge.
This video made me realise that my memories of this game are accurate and that it's actually a really pretty looking game; I feel like ever since this, the diminishing returns on graphics have been crazy.
Thanks for this. It's been so long since I played AC1. Having enjoyed it so much way back when, it feels good to watch this.
Your humour in this video was so much fun, and this is one of my favourite games, so thank you for this!
YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!! CONTINUE WITH AC2. EVEN IF YOU DON'T DO THE CHALLENGE, DO IT FOR THE LORE. YOU EXPLAIN IT REALLY GOOD AND IN SHORT.
I'd love to see you do the rest of the series! Honestly I just enjoy the fun recap of the game lmao
This is the only challenge you’ve ever done I think I could do. When I originally played the assassins creed games I just didn’t deal with swapping weapons because the hidden blade is so much more fun to hit timing windows with.
I know I'm late but I'll love to see you do this challenge with every Assassin's Creed game
"Tell if you wanna see..." Yes. It's always yes. I like the way you do the video magic.
It's been a while since I encoutered a UA-camr thats so effortlessly and consistantly funny. I think I'll stay here for a little while :)
Im not gonna lie this is the video that i forst watched from the backlogs and personally i would love to see more assassins creed videos
This just made me realize how great 2007 was for gaming. In one year we got Assassin’s Creed, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Team Fortress 2, Crysis, CoD: Modern Warfare, and Lego Star Wars: The complete saga among others. I don’t think it can get much better and historic than that
I would love to see you to this for every AC game!
I'm not sure how the algorithm got me here, but I'm glad it did!
An EMPHATIC yes to continuing this challenge, PLEASE and thank you! 😊
Id love to see more of these! Especially so we can do a bombing run of revelatjons.
Are you an actual psychic? I just thought about replaying this iconic game and you released a challenge run about it. You made my day
Getting this alert while I'm currently playing brotherhood was a pleasant surprise
Watching Lemon during the cutscenes, the song "You Spin Me Right Round" comes to my mind.
This video got me playing AC II which is now one of my favorite games, thank you.
That was cool, loved the transitions and lore bits.
In all fairness, combat is stupidly easy, once you get a hang of riposte timings.
I would love to see this in every game in the series, just think, you would have at least 12 more video ideas.
happy to see i am not the only one with a sudden urge to play the old assassin's creed games
I've never played assassins creed so it was nice to finally see what it was about.
I've been waiting so long for this video thank you so much
You should do the rest of the series, but pick a different weapon for each game. For 2 it could be throwing knives, Brotherhood only weapons retrieved from enemies, etc.
Now we need an Assassin Creed Black Flag run!! Ship can only be outfitted with mortar and only pistol is allowed for combat. Yar me hearty!!!
AC2 would be great fun with this rule-set, especially given that second blade you get later on!
Good video! Surprised to see assassains creed here especially because I started playing the series all over again. Glad I'm not the only one who does the "Cutscene Spin"
AC was definitely one of my favoriute games growing up.
Seeing this challenge done in AC 2 with its more fluid combat would be amazing to see.
There are so many fun challenge runs that are possible in the Ezio games. I say definitely push on!
Can't wait to see the future games covered these games used to be a big hyper fixation when I was in highschool
What a wonderful trip down memory lane. And if you wanted to you might be able to get away with a ‘firebomb’ only run in revelations since you have so many fun throwable weapons
Dropped my jaw when I saw AC1, definitely a nostalgial one. Thanks 🍋
AC2 is a must, after all, and as far as I know in Unity the hidden blade has been devolved to just an assassination tool, rather then being a weapon on its own.
i kinda hope he does this for future gamess
Great video, as always. I would definitely like to see you try the rest of the series with these rules, however, as many people pointed out, it might be to easy. So why not go the Batman path and use only your fists? (Except for the mandatory targets obviously)
Oh thank god, a new Backlogs video. I can’t tell you how badly I needed this today. Just found out I’m gonna have to find a new job because corporate gutted management and are shutting down my jobs branch
2:12 “ah good, our character is a murd3r0us madman, you love to see it” you basically summed up every assassin’s creed game ever.
"Along with the spine I collected earlier..."
Can't remember 1, but in ac 2 you could counter kill anyone with the hudden blade, the most op weapon in the game
Man... I wish we could get AC1-3 all over again from Ubisoft. Even AC Unity wasn't that bad.
But the online modes from Brotherhood, Revelations, and AC3 was the best online modes I've ever played.
I love how every time that you upload a new video my day gets infinitely better, I wish you the best man
Lemon has actively made my life better and I appreciate the backlogs as if they were a dear friend. ❤
that spinning move whenever a dialogue is currently playing is some DEEP FUN RELATABLE MEMORY for me HAHAHAHAHA
I think if you do Assassin's Creed II, I will probably cry seeing those cutscenes again. ACII moved me in a way no game really has since. Such a brilliant piece of art.
Revelations Bomb Only when?
Really glad you are diverging from Dark Souls, love tour content, andd think you have great potential
i see assassin's creed i like
WE like
AC3 is the goat cant deny it
"Monkey see monkey do" 😂
@@skrillex1498Communism😂
@@musclecarenjoyernah, AC2 was by far the best jump in quality
'Shock and Awe' strategy of killing the unfocused was always my favorite. Especially the fights you don't get hit at all
Finally a assassins creed video, ive been wanting this
I enjoyed this video! Great job!
This was a trip down the memory lane, my god
If you do the minimum number of investigations to unlock the assassination, you'll only receive three pieces of intel in your memory log. These include detailed information about what the target will do, who is protecting him, how to reach him, and how to get out. If you get all five you'll be fully prepared to make a smooth infiltration plan. Almost any assassination that seems to require combat is probably a stealth puzzle that can only be solved by reading these. If you don't do this, what you're playing isn't Assassin's Creed, it's a different game entirely
When you assassinate a cowering or taunting enemy, *another* guard will be chosen to cower, and you can assassinate him too. Check my shock and awe playlist for some examples if you're still confused
You can make beggars flee by drawing a blade, but that might be bending the rules for this run. Punching can also help and is moderately effective against maniacs, but only if you absolutely cannot avoid their trigger radius
If you're getting bored of chasing around waypoints, which you will, you can find every objective organically by going in the directions the rafiq tells you in the briefing and looking for the landmark he mentions. Saving citizens can also help to clear up the noise pollution, and you can find the bureau by its green, onion-shaped tower
When you're having trouble and piling up too many corpses, go do something else and they'll despawn when you come back. Later on when you become permanently notorious you have to do this even when there are no bodies on the ground
You *can* air assassinate in AC1, you just have to be within a very short vertical distance, the same height from which you can drop off small ledges by running at them. Opportunities for the second one actually come up quite often once you know what to look for
Fun fact: Brainwashed Assassins and Al Mualim's illusions do not feel fear and never taunt
I also recommend the wiki page "Crpytic Messages" to get a good start on Subject 16's writings. A lot of them are still left up to interpretation, so my friend DaBeanieBoi has been working on a long-gestating comprehensive breakdown. We've had many late night conversations on the conspiracies and metaphors and arcane mathematics. Keep an eye on his channel too
Man, this game brings up good memories. Thanks for this.
That "Make like a tree" line reminded me of The Boondock Saints, the bar tender.
Id love the rest of the series, Would be a fun trip down memory lane to watch/rewatch now n then
Yeah I need to see lemon play more assassins creed to justify me playing more of the series
Your videos are new for me but using music from hyper light drifter and katana zero has earned you my full respect and my sub
AC: Brotherhood with hidden blade only is still one of my favorite challenge runs. Max notoriety, no group fighting, and plenty of social stealth. Actually had good use of the coin throw to get past guard squads.
Would love to see this challenge continued into the series
Did not expect this one. Nicely done
Keep it going Lemon. All the way to Odyssey and beyond, if you can.
I've never clicked on something so fast, I love your content and the thought of you playing Assassins creed 1 makes me so happy
