Very difficult but 100% possible, since games can be made from nothing but Java and Java 8 is on Windows 2000. But if that's the case, then the only hard part is finding a good image editor, sound maker, and a good IDE (or just using a text editor with syntax highlighting). Once all of that's said and done, all you're doing is making a game in Java 8. Considering that Java 8 is still supported, it's not _as_ cool since the fun here was using old, unsupported software in the modern day.
I'm pretty sure you could use an old version of RPG Maker to do that, I might try it out later if I'm interested, but yeah that's completely possible, just really problematic
Honestly, when I try to play Minecraft on virtualbox, the camera goes either down or up, when I go to inventory or pause menu, I see the mouse nowhere near the center of the game

How did you manage to get this lucky with IE6 on Win2000 loading the modern web? IE8 on my install of WinXP doesn't load Reddit or Steam pages but yours does? It's incredible how much of this stuff still runs compared to 9x, Windows XP and to some extent 2000 are very usable in my opinion if you have at least a Pentium 4 or a Core 2 Duo.
The extended kernel for windows 2000 managed to fix internet explorer to the point where I could browse pretty much every site I needed! Unless I'm wrong about that. Either way it was very convenient haha
the screen recorder is def holding back the quality, granted vegas pro 4 is old as hell, but it can actually make some decent quality exports. also cause its in a vm so minecraft runs at 2fps
Honestly I suggest you get some real hardware. I got PC with Athlon 64 x2 and GeForce 210 and with custom drivers I could play Minecraft with better framerates on Windows 2000. VirtualBox is bad even for old 3D games
Similar in terms of appearance. But not the same under the hood. Windows 2000 runs off of NT architecture, which was also used on XP and every Windows OS afterwards. ME ran on 9x architecture, which was also used on Windows 95, 98 etc. ME was the last operating system that used 9x.
