DEMONS & WIZARDS are back!
Founded in 1999 by Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian) and Jon Schaffer (Iced Earth), DEMONS & WIZARDS released two highly acclaimed albums “Demons & Wizards” (1999) and “Touched by the Crimson King” (2005). The band is currently working on their highly anticipated third studio album, which is scheduled to be released in early 2020. Prior to that, DEMONS & WIZARDS will celebrate a massive return to stages worldwide!
Furthermore, remastered & expanded editions of the previous two albums are out June 7, 2019 as luxurious Gatefold 2LP+LP-booklet editions, as limited edition digipak CDs and on all digital platforms. Order them now!

I remember the first time I heard this song. So brilliant, because Iced Earth isnt so melodic and Guardian dont had the Schaffer riffs...Was a great symbiosis!!!
I remember when i was 15 and discovered this band. Still some of the best metal I've ever heard and I'm almost 29 now! Ready for that third album!!

Same! I just turned 34. When I discovered this band it was exactly what I was searching for. I couldn’t believe I had finally found it. Demons and wizards are absolutely perfect. I can never get enough. I think it was 2004 when I discovered them. Crimson king was my first tune then terror train. After I found both albums and have listened a million times.

It's hard to believe It's been nearly 15 years ago, since the first release. John and Hansi never dissapoint me In any of the work they do but to together they are an unstoppable force!!

The second D&W's album came out shortly after Horrow Show, and even has what I believe to be a leftover from Horrow Show's recording sessions.

As it's been said before, this originally came out around the time of Horror Show. This was back when Jon and comp. still had more of a dark and sinister sound to their songwriting and sound as compared to more pseudo power metal style they have adopted in recent years. I've really enjoyed the past 3 albums, but I miss the Demons part of the moniker that Iced Earth was known for. Here's hoping that Demons & Wizards 3 brings back that demonic metal sound. I want more akin to this album, Stormrider, and Something Wicked than Plagues or Incorruptible.

@@TheTeezmo not surprising. Their 3rd album was sub-par at best. It had nothing on the first two albums.
Also the biggest problem iced earth broke up permanently. Because their vocalist decided to charge into the capitol. Now the iced earth label has been dropped, the drummer and I believe guitarist left and he’s facing prosecution. And even if Schaffer does some how escape prosecution blind guardian now wishes no longer to work with him(the mastermind and name of iced earth). Long story short (too late) Schaffer f@cked his music career.

@@Junkmeister The vocalist didn't break in. It was Jon himself. The Rhythm guitarist and band leader. Only Jon and drummer Brent Smedley are left. Luke Appleton (bassist), Jake Dreyer (lead guitarist), and Stu Block (Vocalist) left.

You have to keep in mind, youtube is very compressed. The audio from the official release will more than likely be much better. Especially if they spent the time and funds to remaster

True (and I do hope it's better on the re-release, since I'm interested in buying it), but the vocals generally seem pretty low in volume. I listened to the older version on UA-cam right afterwards, and there they were a lot louder / in the foreground. Here the guitar and the drums are very dominant in comparison.
Hansi's voice is always so ... Hansi xD I'm glad it never changed !

Schaffer was on another level in the late 90s and early 2000s. 1995 was Burnt Offerings, 1996 was Dark Saga, 1998 was Something Wicked, 2000 was D&W with Hansi, then 2001 was Horror Show. Riff lord.

I love this song, one of the best songs from Demons & Wizards. Hansi's voice is epic and powerfull, however the third album until 2020.... I look forward to hearing it.

The mixing could use some touchup though .. the middle register is piercing and the frequencies of the voice and the instruments are overlapping and it sounds like they are put on the same channels in the track.

Yeah, these modern remasters tend be made for bass heads, The older high quality tracks tend to display the full range better.

I just found out about these guys like a week ago, I was blown away. How did I not know this existed. Anyways what's even more awesome is I found out they are performing in my city in a couple days! I bought tickets immediately and asked a pal to go, I'm stoked for this show man!

Remasters are lazy cash grabs. How is this really different than the first mastering? Do it properly and remix and remaster it if you want to reissue an album.
Rereleasing stuff makes it easier to get for those who missed or weren't aware the first time around. Remixing changes the sound. Fuck that.
The remaster sounds worse, another cash grab gimmick.

Amazing album! I bought it few years ago, in 2000. The guitar of John Schaffer is simply amazing and the voice of Ansi is fantastic, very epic!

Just now got the significance of the name of Demons & Wizards. Iced Earth has their mascot of that demon-like dude, and Blind Guardian does all the Medeival Fantasy stuff, so we get Demons and Wizards.
Jon Schaffer's wife planted the idea when she told them, how they sounded like Demons and Angels (Jon's riffs being demonic, and Hansi's voice being angelic.) But Hansi didn't like that, as he found his voice and music to be more directed towards fantasy. So he corrected her and named the band "Demons & Wizards" ;)
That right hand technique....
LOVE this album. This was better than what he was writing for Iced Earth at the time.
