My experience is that alot of people mostly play shooting vs shooting, so when they meet an army that just rush acros the table and start punching their teeth in, they have no idea how to handle it, when in truth they lost when they made their army because they have nothing to move block with or units to just throw away to stall for 1 or 2 turns
This. There exists means of dealing with Orks, but people are bringing stuff for heavier targets too much I think.
Which makes Orks gamebreaking sorry but they are and always have been an NPC faction this playstyle has no place in serious play
@@Sajuek found the git who got krumped
Not really some of the best combat units in the game with buffs like Custodes or Death Company or World eaters etc. are not going to be able to deal with meganobz. The waagh also gives huge mobility, especially with cheap trucks available as well, turn 2 and 3 most armies cannot deal with a double waaagh of Orks, their units are just too cheap. Green Tide is causing similar issues, chaff clearing guns don't work well because of the T5 and the invul, so you are wounding them on 5s and they save on 5s so even boyz advancing and charging in big numbers across the board most armies can't deal with, let alone meganobz that need 40+ lascannons shots to take down just 5 (even more if they use AOC). No army in the game has the firepower or damage output to deal with 18 meganobz, plus characters, in two turns of the waagh, which massively buffs their damage as well and access to armour of contempt. They are better than Custodes wardens at about 60% of the cost, 3 squads of meganobz are 18 T6, 2+ save, armour of contempt, 3W bodies, with 2 turns of 4+ FNP, that can advance an charge, get hit re-rolls, and hit with like S10 and S13 in melee in two turns as well.
With a warboss they are an absurd 230 points, can kill a land raider pretty much each squad a turn, for two turns, and can take like over 2000 pts of shooting to kill ffs and that is less than 700 points of your army. 3 squads of wardens, which are just flat out worse, plus 3 characters, is 1080 points, and they get one turn of FNP, one turn of advance and charge (if you use Blad Champion), and one turn of damage boost in shield host).
Oh and the Orks being 390 pts cheaper, have 3 extra guys as well, so 9 more wounds to chew through.
The detachment rule is too good when combined with those datasheet at the absurd points cost. Meganobz have a profile better than Custodes, better than Terminators, but are 30PPM and now have a two turn damage boost and two turn 4+ FNP, they should be 50PPM or more with those abilities, not 30. They are broken, it is pretty obvious from the results they are getting, not how people are playing against them.
Too much defensive power, offensive melee power for too little cost.
If Custodes wardens were 30PPM and Custodes players had 3 squads of wardens coming at you across the board for like 650 points, people would be screaming about how broken they are. Meganobz are tougher than wardens and hit even harder.
@@tajj7 Bro tune it down, we can hear your whining from miles away.
Enjoy it before it gets nerfed.
Nerfed, or nuked from orbit?
😢
Necrons have more shinannigans this is our wat yo krump them
@@arminakuma2828 The Foot of GWork always comes down on our ladz just when they start getting proppa 'ard. Like Deff n' Taxzzez
I think they'll just raise Meganobz to 35/40 pts pet model and maaaybe drop FNP to 5+. That sorts out the whole issue.
The 2 turns of WAAAGH alone is what sold me on this. The sheer amount of versatility and options this brings against shooty armies is insane. It almost GUARANTEES you're at least getting a bunch of Meganobz in. Bring your Tellyporta guys in with Rapid Ingress and your opponent's in for a world of hurt.
also big 20 mans of boyz with a warboss get a double waagh as well, pair with a painboy two turns of 5+ and 5++
I was really surprised the 2nd list doesn't run a wartrike for those bikes
Those stratagems are how the Night Lords detachment stratagems should have been.
A little buff which gets better if enemy battle shocked (equivalent to waaagh bonus here)…
My most recent 40K tourney I made it against another ork player running Bully Boyz (myself playing beastsnaggas) and long story short, I called it after turn 2. It probably isn’t impossible to beat but it definitely feels extremely tough to go up against, especially if you’re also a melee force. I’m gonna be shocked if Meganobz or anything involving this detachment doesn’t get nerfed in some way.
Can’t wait to test my templars against my friends abominations
Custodes sitting here with our literal DAoT disintegration beams having been swapped for bolters and barely able to survive against *literal fungus.* *Fungi* are tougher than *Towers of Auramite.*
There's some hard ass biases going on internally at GW, it's *very* clear at this point. Either that or someone from The Old World department pumped Skaven Warpstone Gas into the ventilation systems at the offices to create this tomfoolery.
Orkz orkz orkz orkz orkz
I ran the "Bully Boyz" formation back in 7th, and all I got was +1 WS!
Times have changed 👴
I picked up the stompa boyz box plus 2 normal Meks and a Gorkanaut.
Insta 1500 points, no enhancements.
Have it all built and mostly painted and Oooooo my, the stompa is supa fun, and supa swingy haha.
Using Dread Mob for the Button rule is so much fun.
Full the rest in with Killa Kans, best thing in that detachment
List 2 has me pondering the merits of going deeper on warbikes as the deffkilla wartrike can give them the warboss keyword.
This detachment is so fun, but everybody has to fucking abuse it by spamming meganobz. You know what's gonna happen, GW's gonna destroy it with an overly-heavy handed overall nerf. We'll be lucky if the other detachments don't suffer for it too.
I think what's going to happen is with the new Battleline focused mission pack is looking to 'somewhat' counter this...but yes I picture MANZ going up at least 15 or 20 points per model.
Well that's competitive 40k for you. Players will always abuse the best units, it just makes sense to do it if it helps to secure the win. GW know this though and know it helps sell models too. It's probably baked into their whole marketing strategy by now. "Hey James Workshop, we have a surplus of Meganobz in the warehouse, want us to push them in the new codex to clear em?"
Meanwhile everybody else who is not a high level comp player suffers for their sins once the NERF hammer comes down and then the cycle continues with a new unit.
At least that's how it appears to me.
To be fair, all the strats only work on nobz or megaz, so there isn't a huge amount of choice if you want to take advantage of the strats.
And warboss which means anything that can have a war boss lead it gets it.@@jacobflynn7411
@@jacobflynn7411 That hasn't stopped GW from gutting an entire line because several units are good. They do not do fair/fun preserving balancing consistently, Admech is the current example of this.
Only played against them once with Chaos Knights. I barely lost, and only because I made about 3 silly mistakes. Still kicking myself because it should have been an easy win for me.
CK shreds trukks and runs circles around meganobz. It’s one faction that might be ok into them. You just have to accept that you’re going to give up primary for 1-2 turns and just focus on secondaries / denying them secondaries. After the Waaagh turns, Karnivores absolutely demolish meganob squads. It’s all about secondaries and late game.
Still feels like no game against them, even a win, will ever result in them having low points. They’re practically guaranteed massive primary scoring for at least 2 turns.
Thinking about the alternate universe where the Custodes book copied the shield hosts from 9th into detachments and we’re getting Auspex Tactics videos about how overpowered they are…
Custodes players are so desperate theyre creating their own happiness
Welcome intro a space marines world (codex) 37% win rate
Many thanks Auspex Tactics - much appreciated :)
This detachment is brutal. In my last game against Orks, my opponent's army was basically a ton of Meganobz, characters and a few vehicles. He did Waaaagh on rounds 2 and 3, and there wasn't much of a round 4. Dealing with an army where a ton of the units are T6 and get 2+/5++/4+++ is absolutely insane.
bring more chaff and stall
@@sumsarprat I'll try. I play Blood Angels, so I guess the most chaff-like unit I've is Scouts. Need to paint some up.
It's the Ork army I always wanted! Might be too cheap in points now currently, but the rules are solid.
@@sumsarprat lol, no they are just broken in this detachment and horribly undecosted. Let me play 30PPM Custodes and see how fair it is and meganobz are considerably tougher than custodes in this detachment.
@@tajj7 30 ppm custodes? **a finger on the monkey's paw curls**
They're more resilient than Custodes. Walking fungus in scrap metal. Shouldn't really be that way around. Tough, yes. Good, yes. Fun, absolutely. But more resilient? Hmmm.
orks is never beaten
Custodian guard are t6. Eightbound are t6...who barely wear armour and basic armour at that for elite marines. Custodes should be t8 minimum.
@@frogsterlicous7040Eightbound also have a bunch of daemons shoved into them, kinda disingenuous to call them just "elite marines"
The walking fungus is about 10-12 feet tall and genetically engineered (albeit a debased version of the original design) by beings far beyond the Emperor's abilities.
Anything but a fatal wound doesn't put them down, they can recover from being decapitated.
They are T5 with no invuln. They are good, but not more resilient than custodes.
Trukk Actually did get small change in codex (spiked wheels hit on 4+ now)
I feel like AT's voice is more familiar and common than my own family's at this point. I should probably call my mom...
In my first game with Bully Boys my friend tried to fall back with his full health Land Raider and I used Cut Em Down. He was not that happy losing 16 wounds for 1 CP.
That is the sort of thing I feel you should warn your friend about when they go to fall back.
@@SgtDax Luckily I did remember to warn him at the start of the game and right before his movement. He still wasn't happy, but at least he didn't feel like I tricked him.
How ironic i made a warboss in mega armor kitbashing the new terminator death wing model only for them to become the deffwing lmao
Did som'unn say Deff'wing?
Nothing can stop that detachment. 30 points per meganob is just crazy.
meganobz being good is always a good thing
I think the Green Tide is an even stronger detachment
After I finish my chaos armies, Im considering doing an Ork army based on the demonic orcs from Warcraft 3 and making the devotees of Khorne.
Bring screens to move block them :) see you in turn four :)
Orks are going to get wrecked in a points update. they got crazy rules and datasheets
Hey, i have a question. Can a meka-dread heal himself? I mean, he is a friendly ORKS VEHICLE model within 3" of this model..
Every unit is inside their own aura so as long as it doesn't say other vehicle it should work.
Oh good. Mega nobz are going to get a points increase because of a detachment I don't use. Love it when my army gets nerfed thanks to other armies.
Gotta love the "totally not power level" age we are in
oi! you an ork player or what? we dont komplain!
@@erimo506 My Grot tanks got fucked off to legends. I will complain.
Sorry, does the twin kill saw get 4 attacks each? 2+2 or just 2 for both weapons?
Just 2. The benefit is getting the Twin-linked tag.
Quick question for my understanding: if i play a normal ork boiz unit without a leader, they dont profit from the second waaagh rule. but if i attach a warboss to the unit, the WHOLE UNIT can do a second waaagh? Bois+Warboss???
Yes, the Warboss give the Warboss keyword to the unit they are attached to, and so are effected by all rules and stratagems that effects warbosses
@@RllyGudGuy thank you very much for the answer. where is this exact thing written in the rules? this really surprises me a lot. does the leader of every faction automatically transfer his keywords to the unit he is attached to, or is this an ork-exclusive thing?
@@theicedrose3220 under the leaders section of deployment abilities in the core rules, it states that a leader and their attached unit are considered one unit. This applies to any leader to any army, meaning that if a rule targets any of a unit that has any leader’s key words, it can effect the attached bodyguard as their in the same unit as the leader with the effected keyword. Note this doesn’t effect the body guard if the rule states models with the effected key word rather then unit
@@theicedrose3220 Also check the free download rules commentary PDF under the 'Keywords' section. This is more clear than the main rule book.
Sad Kult of Speed noises....
I’m coping super hard. Why do Orks have better Terminators than Space Marines??
Still waiting for a competetive Bully Boys list with a Deffkilla Warboss.
List 2 is my kind of WAAAAH!
yeah shame they are 42.50 for 3 plastic toys, honestly fuck GW 15 models for the low low price of £300
3D print or convert from something that sort looks right
Buy terminator kits.
If they get nerfed hopefully sustained hits comes back for all detachments
The math for hits needed to kill 5 Meganobz in Waagh is off for multiple examples. Assuming AP is reduced by 1 (either through cover or strat)
For S10 Ap-2 D3. It takes an average of 45 hits to kill them (not 60). 45 hits -> 30 wounds -> 10 failed saves -> 10x3 damage (vs15 wounds with a 4+++).
Also takes 45 for overcharged plasma (not 52). 45 hits -> 30 wounds -> 15 failed saves -> 15x2 damage (vs 15 wounds with a 4+++).
Lascannons and Bolt Rifles are both correct.
Of course, in all reality, you likely need more because 4+++ tend to be swingy, which leads to overkill damage on some and not enough damage on others.
You can't carry over damage though, so a FNP made against a 3 damage weapon on a 3W models, means that models loses 2Ws, so you need another 3 damage attack to kill the model, so that would be two 3D hits to kill one model, that is where FNPs on multiple wound infantry models can be nasty against weapons with more than 1D.
@@tajj7 yeah i know. The numbers provided by me are talking about averages. It assumes 2x d3 and 3x d2 (for the plasma) going through saves. Because of the fnp that averages 3 damage. I'm a bit perplexed you tried to explain this to me considering i even mentioned the unreliability in my comment.
Lascannons in the video (24 hits needed) btw assumed the same thing i assume here. 24 hits - > 20 wounds - > 10 failed saves for 10x4.5 damage (or an average of 2 needed to kill one meganob).
I remember when Nobz were 25 and Meganobz were 60. Glad to see Orks on the rise again
Mega nobz are on level with Assault centurions, but better in melee, can have a leder and are 20 points less per model.. I'm guessing a nerf is coming..
I don't like Orks, but I am very happy to see them doing well, especially now that they have their codex. With a few faction just being broken, and others bad; with a few that got their book...and then wished they could send it back, for what it brought along, it's nice to see what, at least to my limited perception, just seems like a good place. They have several options, and they are neither a ROARING dumpster fire, nor just flexing power that will need to be tolerated, for a few months, and then be kneecapped with the anointed ban hammer, into mediocrity. A few little things may need to be changed, surely, or don't, but will, but this seems decent, and that's great! Again, at least to me, and my limited window into the competitive space of the game.
Kinda hilarious that Orks now have a much stronger shooting potential than admech lmao
I played the Bully Boys this weekend gone at a GT. It was over by turn 2. Disgusting green wave of Meganobs and not a chance in hell to win. I have always enjoyed playing Orks as they are fun army but that was the first time playing them I did not enjoy it… which was a shame and sad end to a great tournament.
I know everyone is saying nerf this, but expensive points to worse units makes Orks lean into these guys. Current meta just needs to catch up. The new missions will force shift some of that.
Weren’t most vehicles nerfed and infantry buffed last point update?
I mean tbf, it *should* be the strongest detachment.
Da Big'Uns turned up.
A squad of meganobz with the warboss in mega armor can 1 phase angron.
Good. They should be able to.
I prefer green tide
Shit is wild broken, last tournament I went to top 3 were all orks smh. Curious if those folks will still use ork when the nerf comes.
Ork is a way of life. One does not simply leave Orks
@@whichDude I hope so, only one dude had an army painted. The rest are obviously riding the band wagon. Power playing to the finest.
Orks is the best. Bout time
@@thagoodstuff777 What kinda lame tournament doesn't enforce painted armies?

Haven't got the codex and generally thought this wasn't a detachment.
GW trying to clean out their back stock of Mega Nobz and Nobs of course and Meta chasers fall for it. Like the green tide, they made good to sell them. They will say win rate to sale. 40K is becoming less about the hobby and more pay to win still! Game is going down hill unfortunately 😢
First?
Bully Boyz are not that powerful. I’ve used them and went against them at events. They’re not that durable on 2 waaagh turns, dont do a ton of damage, are slow and have low OC
Nearly all of the GT’s they win are small count players which any faction could dominate. This Ork playstyle is over hyped! At higher level play it’s really not that good
Bite dirt next update. Your codex was written by a fanboy gone wild
I wish fan boys wrote every Codex.xD
Can't wait to be somped intro ground with my codex space marines, jeeeej, no chances at all :(
I play them to. We have no chance
