These bags are amazing for travel. Years ago I bought two. One for my mother and one for myself for our trip to England. They fit so easily in our luggage and were perfect for day trips, shopping, etc. You can carry so much without worry and the bag itself is very lightweight. I’ve been thinking about a second as they’re still reasonably priced.🥰
They tick so many boxes ✅🙌🏼 I love hearing how other people have had theirs for years and they're still going strong. I must admit I am tempted by a black one now that we're heading into Autumn/Winter 🙊

I would say I have a deeply personal relationship with my Le Pliage tote - it is simply a part of my life 🙃 I’ve had it forever, as a daily city work bag, everyday tote, and also following me to the bamboo jungles of Thailand, and even the remotest sandbanks in the Maldives! The corners below are a little scuffed, so is the leather, but it has retained its overall sturdiness and good looks. Truly a fantastic quality classic that stands the test of time! ❤
great update on these most popular bags. One thing you. might have mentioned. I was in a store recently and was told that anytime you wish to repair your bag, Longchamp will do this for FREE. !! The corners wear quickly - so I guess that is why they offer that service.
I actually didn’t know that as I haven’t been into a Longchamp store and the lovely ladies on the Longchamp concession at John Lewis haven’t mentioned it before so that is excellent news! 🙌🏼
@jilljackson340 looking at their policy, this will apply only in case of manufacturing defects, but if it's damaged by normal wearing the repair cost will be on you!
It's an OK bag, don't think I'd personally call it stylish, but as you say Emma, to each their own. As a useful, capacious but nylon-looking bag for travelling, it is great. But worth £120 or so? No. I do think your bag insert is a good idea though😊
I have bought 2 bags in the past 5 years and the bottom corners is alway an issue. I even made it a point on my second bag, not have pens in my bag as I thought that was the cause. Even with extra care, the corners wore away and have holes now. They wear and tear so easily.
I think this is a TikTok trend but I don't use TikTok so not 100% sure. They've always been popular for women over 30 but like you I've started seeing more of them on younger women and yeh even school kids 😳. I just had a backpack when I was school, how the times have changed 🤣
My 9 year old daughter goes to a private school and the teenagers love using these bags as school bags. It's really not good for your back 😞. As I dropped her off this morning she pointed out a kid on her year with one 😳🤦, which is just a shame. My daughter has a heavy backpack as they all need to have laptops and books with them. Parents should be more aware of how certain bags can cause health issues.

Love these bags! I have 2 myself. HOWEVER, the corners do wear out quickly and "open" and become little holes with time. Having said that, there are now new ones with extra leather on those corners, to prevent them to tear.
Thanks for another fun vid! You know I love these bags. Adding to my last comment: in the 20+ years of my owning these bags, Longchamp has only once upgraded the bags by adding a 2nd pocket to the medium sized bag (the size I collect the most of). The construction, detailing and quality of parts have mostly stayed consistently quite good. One more note to add, the fabric and coating gets quite stiff in cooler weather. During the winter months, sometimes our temps drop below 10c, and that's when I notice these bags get quite stiff. I have a leather version of the bag that I use in cooler weather. *That* one as a proper lining, and more pockets for much better organization. Anyhoo, thanks again for a very enjoyable vid!
I’ve collected a few Longchamp Le Pliage bags in the past few years, and recently got myself a little pouch that I use as a crossbody. I love them so much, and even after many years they are in impeccable condition! thanks for the review 😊
I love my Pilage bags to bits!❤ I've been using them for some years - notably as a work bag before I retired a couple of years ago and now as a travel bag instead of the usual large handbag. I currently have the same colours as you Emma - navy and paper white though have chopped and changed over the years. I think I have thanked you for the insert tip before but many thanks again - it's an absolute game changer!👍 And - what a lovely treat! A mid-week Emma video! Love to you, Simon and the Bs. Xxx
Years ago I purchased the very small bag (wallet size). I love it. I use it to carry make up when I travel (I do not really wear makeup so what I would use fits 😊). I think I will purchase one of these as I currently use my Coach tote as a carry on. This is more practical and I like the minimal look.
This comes at a perfect time as I need a new hand luggage bag for a holiday next month. I’d often looked at these but never bit the bullet. I think the price is pretty reasonable tbf, and they’re so versatile. Thanks as always for your thorough reviews 🫶🏻😘
Thank you so much, Emma for adding the link for the organiser. I have had these bags for years and years and years, but have only just thought to add an organiser! This will save me from trawling through the many different options online. Thanks again!
I love these bags as they suit my lifestyle and I currently have several of them, and over the years I have also owned many (past tense). My issue is, is that without fail, every single one of them has 'gone' on the corners and holes/splits have formed. I have tried fixing them (not very successfully I may add) as the needle often splits the fabric even more. I just wish Longchamp would reinforce the corners a bit more to make them more durable. Having said all this, will I continue to buy them? YES!
I have bought multiple Longchamps bags over the years - in leather and canvas and multiple sizes and shapes - because they last and last. An absolute style classic, especially for travel.
I have the same paper large tote and the all black version. I use both for travel. They are great and I so I don’t really have to worry about ruining them. I put my totes in a dust bag on the airplane which keeps the paper color from getting marks. They really are the best travel bags! I also hang my hat and mud kids’ hats from the strap using a hat clip. It’s just the perfect travel bag!
Hi. I have the Longchamp le pliage in size M. I think it's the perfect size for everyday. But I don't like to use it with an organizer, I prefer it more slouchy and also that way it's more confortable and elegant under the arm.. Just my opinion. 😊
I have a navy and black from the Green collection. But am definitely pondering your paper version of the Original. Great bags for both everyday and travel needs.
Thanks for the review Emma, I got ‘3’ of them and I love them all. What a brilliant practical design and they seem always to look new. As you said, a good every day bag and a excellent travel bag. The insert helps at time to make it more sturdy for lots of small and heavy stuff. Fab review ❣️👏💐
The XS is my most ysed size. So practical! I use my medium as my gym bag but ny large I have not used in years. I just prefer to use a backpack for travelling.
TK Maxx have a Louenhide nylon tote bag for £29.99 very similar but with provision to slip over the handles of a suitcase. Not sure if it folds down though.
Once you spot one Longchamp bag on the tube (London), you see them everywhere! They really are the bag of choice. I don't have one currently but could be tempted to buy a brown large with the long straps. Thanks so much for this thoughtful video and links, as I would definitely buy a bag insert if I invest x
Thx Emma for the indepth review! I've had Longchamp (you don't pronounce the p, just sayin' 😂) bags for 20 years. They are quality and sustainable, because they last and last! But it is what it is: a foldable bag, which is usualy meant as an extra - instead of a plastic bag - so in that way Longchamp was ahead of it's time. There is also a Pliage (non foldable) with long straps, which you can wear as a crossbody bag. Véry handy and light, a preferred travel bag. Only a bit more difficult to find. They also do leather bags. Beautiful but more expensive. But also, they last! For the fake ones: no comment. If you want fast (cheap) fashion, go for it. There's no comparison. ❤
I have to hold my hands up to having an imitation one, in the smaller size. I got it from eBay for about £5.99 around 10 years ago, I’ve used it everyday as my lunch bag and apart from it being marked as I’ve not really looked after it the bag itself is in great condition, there is just a tiny bit of fraying in the front corners, I’ve been very lucky with it. One day I’m might be able to buy a real one 😃 x
I bought a tote bag from the New York Public Library ( from the films " day after tomorrow" etc) and it has a picture of the library on it, it cream and black and i use it on every holiday, it washes wonderfully and reminds me of an amazing week in New York and it wasn't £120. I think it was about $50 .
I have quite a few of these bags from small to large, top handle and short handle. Love them all! I also have many LV, and Coach, but I invariably reach for my Longchamp!
Thank you the extended professional review. I keep postponing buying it as I can’t decide the colour. Just a curiosity: in the Netherlands they are very popular among student (high school and university), in that case they do not need the insert as they are stuffed with books 😊 Thanks again for the video Emma ❤
I personally think the insert is a good idea when stuffing them with heavier items like books because it provides structure for the bottom of the bag and evens out the pressure of the weight. So not only do the inserts make the bag look a nicer shape but they also provide a bit of protection for the inside of the bag and aid it's longevity x
A lot people may not be aware, but longchamp offers for worn corners a service where rhey send a bag to stitch a leather corners. Its as with Goyard. Not sure how much Longchamp charges, but heard years ago it was jyst £25. I truly believe with leather corners this bag would look even better. I wouldn’t even wait until the corners wear, do it while still new, but I prefer my Goyard version in GM (also large).
Thanks, Emma. I ordered the black one for work, and when it arrived, stupid me didn't even take it out the package, looked at it, and thought they've sent me the wrong one! A small handbag with a long strap, so I sent it back and reordered, they done the same again! Only on the 3rd order did it, then sink in that it comes folded! Gee, that was hard work😂
What a coincidence I was thinking of buying a longchamp bag but it really is not my style. I still would love a nylon bag because of the rainy weather we’ve been having
Hey Emma when are you doing your wardrobe winter switchover? I know you’ve done so many before (I’ve watch every single one hahaha 😂) but I always look forward to your switchover & im sure everyone else will be keen to see this years winter version. X
Hi I am wanting to get the small which just has a handle that would rest on your elbow or you would hold in your hand. Just wondering if that would be too much of a change from cross body? Love these bags but just don’t need the larger size. 😊
That's only for you to decide but a change from a crossbody as that leaves you handsfree to a bag that requires on of your hands/arms then you Ould need to think about that in terms of lifestyle x
On two of these bags that have smaller handles I’ve added grommets on the small leather pieces on each end of the zipper. I just order straps that compliment the bag.
If you don’t feel comfortable or confident enough to buy an authentic one pre-loved then stick to buying from Longchamp directly or from retailers like John Lewis and other department stores x
don t get me wrong but to me it is the equivalent of the reusable bag all shops are selling at the till... but for riche people. That is why it is so minimal and well made and durable.
Well yes I suppose that’s true but these bags have been made since 1993, long before reusable shopping bags became a thing. So I suppose it’s the OG of reusable shopping bags, it just looks nicer and is more practical in design (with a zip closure, shoulder straps etc) than a supermarket bag for life when it comes to day to day use, travelling etc.
Oh the irony. I just ordered the large tote in black about an hour ago. I feel even better about my order now. I've waffled about buying one for years as it is a little pricy for what it is but their customer service is supposed to be great.
Exactly as mentioned in the video, just a damp cloth (not a coloured cloth though) with some mild soap. I used my 'paper' colour tote as travel bag throughout the Summer and got a few marks on there from going in the overhead bins or under plane seats and had a few marks on there and they all came off with this method x
As shown you can see how the weight of the laptop distorts the shape however with the use of the insert this keeps its shape and prevents any stretching x
I am based in the UK so my links generate for my country and don’t always automatically convert to all other countries. You can visit the Longchamp online store though if you are interested in purchasing x
had a few of these in different colors… love that they are lightweight and water resistant for travel… unfortunately they all suffered the same fate with the holes in every bottom corner …can’t buy any more of these poor quality bags
Thanks Emma, I have those organisers for my totes, I love how you can just take it out and pop into your different totes😊. I might put the travel bag on my Xmas wish list. ❤
I can’t say I’ve got any issues with the zips but brands can change suppliers over the years so could very well be a different zip. Someone else has pointed out that if you do get corner holes (or any other issues), Longchamp will repair for free 🙌🏼
I’m sorry, I just don’t get it. These bags look like old lady cheap shopping bags. The “leather” parts looks like vinyl. I can’t imagine paying that much for this item. I don’t see these bags much in the USA.
US style and European style is very different, I always notice a big difference when I visit the US. The leather is nice, not as shined as it looks on camera but it’s difficult to film at this time of year when I need to really up the exposure due to the gloom 🙈 The thing with these bags is that they’re lightweight, practical, durable and you don’t have to be precious with them like a leather bag, which might look ‘nicer’ but they just don’t have the same practicality.
@@kristinestocker I live in Denver Colorado and travel a bit in the west and southwest. Don’t see these bags at all around here. They carry them at my Nordstroms, but in daily life and travel I don’t see this bag much.
@ErinCRN I'm on the east coast. I see them here, but Coach and LV certainly seem more popular in the city centers of Atlanta and NYC. But I love mine ❤️

@@EmmaHillThanks again Emma, I have been buying these for years, hard wearing and versatile, carry on holidays then fill with goodies, the bottom edges does fray over time, so I get my sewing machine out turn it inside out and run a stitch across good as new, this only happens over many years in my experience, a lovely bag, I recall my first cost sixty five pounds.

😆 Oh no 😆 To be fair it is very deceiving when they are folded down that small but also very useful ❤️
What a coincidence I was thinking of buying a longchamp bag but it really is not my style. I still would love a nylon bag because of the rainy weather we’ve been having
Love mine!
Lovely! I've seen 3 different colours of Le Pliage bags that I really like! 🐎🏇
Never buy anything from Turkey. Ever 🤣
Éver! ❤
Great review! Love your hair
Thank you x
Hey Emma when are you doing your wardrobe winter switchover? I know you’ve done so many before (I’ve watch every single one hahaha 😂) but I always look forward to your switchover & im sure everyone else will be keen to see this years winter version. X
That video will be up on the 13th October x
That video will be up on the 13th October x
After watching this video i'm thinking I need one of these bags!! Just a quick question, what steamer do you use?
It’s a Steamery x
I put a hard carton cut to size at the base so that it holds its shape and doesnt sag.
My forever pc bag for the weight.
On two of these bags that have smaller handles I’ve added grommets on the small leather pieces on each end of the zipper. I just order straps that compliment the bag.
Excellent idea 😃
Love my medium le pliage want a couple other sizes 🇺🇸I also have the inserts
I have a large green and medium maroon thanks to you my friend ❤
Oh lovely 😍
Love that brown one xx (got a thing for brown )where would you say best to get one from so you dont get ripped off xx
If you don’t feel comfortable or confident enough to buy an authentic one pre-loved then stick to buying from Longchamp directly or from retailers like John Lewis and other department stores x
Thank you Emma x
I love Longchamps bags got few and beautiful hair cut
Thank you ❤️
Thanks Emma. At least now I know that it's not big enough for my folders and books.
I have 4 bags of them , 2 grande & 2 little 😍👍 .
🌹
I had one and got rid of it because it was too difficult to find stuff in it. When I used a bag organizer it was too bulky.
I use a smaller organiser so the bag doesn't look too structured. I bought a light colour organiser so i could find things easily
Fantastic video! Which laptop size will fit in this bag?
The laptop I show in the video is 36cm x 24.5cm 👍
don t get me wrong but to me it is the equivalent of the reusable bag all shops are selling at the till... but for riche people.
It’s great to store my birkin and Kelly so it doesn’t get grimy in the airport. The scanning belt and also luggage on the floor
That is one boujie dustbag but I like it 😘🙌🏼❤️
Longchamp, Regent Street will repair for free. I waited at least six weeks, though.
Oh the irony. I just ordered the large tote in black about an hour ago. I feel even better about my order now. I've waffled about buying one for years as it is a little pricy for what it is but their customer service is supposed to be great.
It arrived and I love it. The quality is fantastic, it will be my go to travel bag.
How do you clean the paper colour bag?
As mentioned in the video just with mild soap and a non coloured cloth or soft bristle brush x
@@EmmaHill thanks
Hi, How do you recommend cleaning this bag (cream color) from black marks?
Exactly as mentioned in the video, just a damp cloth (not a coloured cloth though) with some mild soap. I used my 'paper' colour tote as travel bag throughout the Summer and got a few marks on there from going in the overhead bins or under plane seats and had a few marks on there and they all came off with this method x
@@EmmaHill
I tried unfortunately it doesn't help. There are black marks on the bottom of the bag.
@@N5555bmaybe try a soft bristle brush and soap so you can penetrate the weave better than with a cloth x
Thanks for the video, which size insert do you use please x
I've popped the details in the description box next to the link x
In general, one does not pronounce the last consonant in French words, unless there is a vowel after it. So it is pronounced, "Long-shohn".
I did know this of Longchamp and wasn’t pronouncing the P deliberately but with some accents French just doesn’t sound the same 🤣🙈
With the size of the bag, does a laptop warp the bag?
As shown you can see how the weight of the laptop distorts the shape however with the use of the insert this keeps its shape and prevents any stretching x
@@EmmaHill thanks for review, does this insert hold the laptop as well? The laptop and shape is my issue…thank you ❤
My handles have started peeling, any tips on how to restore it? Anyone else have this issue?
I haven’t had that issue with mine but someone has commented that Longchamp will do free repairs so worth contacting them x
The bag looks good. But this nylon bag has a drawback. There will be holes in the bottom four corners
Some other commenters have raised this and apparently Longchamp offer free repairs within their T&Cs 👍
None of the links work, Emma😊
I am based in the UK so my links generate for my country and don’t always automatically convert to all other countries. You can visit the Longchamp online store though if you are interested in purchasing x
had a few of these in different colors… love that they are lightweight and water resistant for travel… unfortunately they all suffered the same fate with the holes in every bottom corner …can’t buy any more of these poor quality bags
Some people have mentioned that Longchamp offer a free repair service for such wear and tear. might be worth a shot if you still have them 👍
Thanks Emma, I have those organisers for my totes, I love how you can just take it out and pop into your different totes😊. I might put the travel bag on my Xmas wish list. ❤
Me too! I just have the one so I just transfer it between the two totes as and when I use them 🙌🏼
To carry a notebook 14inches , the best size is the L?
I would say yes. The laptop I show in the video is 36cm x 24.5cm, which is just over 14 inches 👍
Cuesta más de lo que vale
I own a few since years and the holes come quickly used as an everyday bag, zipper is not great quality.
I can’t say I’ve got any issues with the zips but brands can change suppliers over the years so could very well be a different zip. Someone else has pointed out that if you do get corner holes (or any other issues), Longchamp will repair for free 🙌🏼
❤
I'm in the USA and have two of these bags and love them. I never use them as a shopping bag - just as an everyday purse or extra travel bag.
@@EmmaHillAs an American that is close in age to you… I first noticed these bags in department stores here around 2007. I do live in Chicago, which of course is a larger American city. My friends and I all had Longchamp bags (including leather bags) back then. I will assume that you’ve been to places in America outside of Disney world, but please don’t think that Orlando and Disney are representative of all of American fashion sensibility 😂
👍⭐️
Good arvo Emma ❤ LOVE MY 🤎 LE PLIAGE
Nappy bag please Emma.
I don’t have children and have no plans to so I’m not the best person to be able to recommend those. I have friends who have used a Le Pliage for that purpose which is why I commented on it but otherwise I don’t have the experience x
@@EmmaHill thank you but I meant Americanism
Oh because I said diaper bag, sorry misunderstood the first comment 😆
All the edges wear off someday and it looks not good :/
I haven't had this happen yet, although a few people have commented similar. However a few commenters have also said that Longchamp offer free repairs, so if you have had this issues it may be worthwhile contacting them to discuss 👍
I must admit it looks like a cheap shopping bag. Sorry I wouldn't buy one maybe one from turkey
Each to their own ❤️
The holes at the corners will come in both versions, Longchamp or not, will come anyway 😅
It’s even cheaper looking those fakes
I have been buying Longchamp Bags for years! They are wonderful! ❤
