I’m so old (64) that when I was a child, our uniforms were 100% wool: navy pleated skirt, matching blazer and optional pullover sweater (no hat required, thankfully). Except for the white “midi blouse” (sailor style), which was 100% woven cotton, for daily washing and ironing. It had navy wool braided sailor cuffs and collar that buttoned on to the blouse, to be removed for dry cleaning along with the other wool items. I loved that uniform and still love a good pleated wool skirt 50+ years later. Just remembering, fabrics were so great until the mid to late 90s. By Y2K, synthetics had replaced the natural ones in the vast majority of clothes. I can’t easily find equivalent quality in today’s clothing, even at premium brands.
I love Emmas thorough reviews, and from experience trust her opinions and recommendations. I own 2 of the jumpers and yes the slits are super annoying and the alpaca roll neck is very itchy! Wish i had this video beforehand 😂
love your videos emma as an inspiration...the only way i could afford wool and cashmere is buying it in a second hand stores. Last week I found an Arket merino wool jumper and paid for it 8$ I have a good selection of wool cashmere and silk jumpers cardigans and sweaters cause of my "hobby". Merino wool is my favourite of all 3.
Shopping pre-loved is the best way to get a real bargain and you can get so much more for your money as your amazing finds go to prove 🙌🏼 Here’s to many more in the future 😘
My favourite piece is the burgundy padded jacket. It looks great for winter. With regard to jumper necklines, I much prefer a V neckline. I’m OK with wool and cashmere on my arms and body, but my neck can be rather sensitive.
It’s always frustrating for us Americans watching Arket hauls. We love the brand, but can’t get it here! Well, maybe I’ll get some ideas. But, no US brand seems to have the mix of quality and style that Arket does. Some brands have great styles, but crap synthetic fabrics. The ones with good, natural-fiber fabrics and materials (like genuine leather/suede) tend to have only basics and very plain styles. I just won’t buy anything with plastics in it, I have skin allergies to plastics, so I know I can’t wear them. Might as well just throw the money away.
It is such a shame you guys don’t have access to Arket over there. They’re still a relatively ‘new’ brand in comparison to so many other brands so who knows what the future holds x
I know! It’s such a bummer we cannot get this brand. My hope is that they grow just enough to start shipping worldwide. I’m the same, only wearing mostly natural fibers as much as possible.
We don’t have Arket in our country but I love watching your try on videos since your through knowledge about fabrics and styles makes the video interesting. I can not shop from high street since they have so much plastic blend materials. I try to shop mainly pre-loved and I can see that well maintained older pieces have higher quality than even expensive brands on the market. Also for the basics that can not be purchased pre-loved, we have local brands here (in Türkiye) still produces %100 cotton type fabrics affordable.
I wish Arket included the garment length measurements online. All of the pants look nice and long on the models, but they're never long enough for me either and I'm only 5'8".
I feel your frustration and that’s why I do these try ons. They often state that the models are 5’9 and sometimes taller and the trousers look fine on them but when I try them at 5’9 they’re way too short. So either the models height isn’t accurate or they just have much shorter legs than me 🫠
I love a rayon/viscose lining. It’s not as luxe as silk, but, unlike sweaty polyester, it’s very breathable. I always look for a rayon lining, in a 100% wool, or wool/cashmere blend jacket or coat. Banana Republic and Theory are the best brands for coats and blazers of this quality here in the US (The Curated, too, but theirs are unlined; a lining is best because it curs the wind and makes the coat much easier to don and doff). The prices are about twice the limit you set for your coat comparison. But, it’s worth it for the improved quality. A 50% wool fabric isn’t half the warmth of 100% wool, it’s a lot less, even 75% wool isn’t all that warm. Plus, wool is breathable, drapes beautifully, doesn’t wrinkle and doesn’t get static or lint like plastic fabrics, or blends with them, do. I’m happy if I can get a good all-wool, rayon-lined coat for $500-600 US. After, all, I wear them for decades, so the cost per wear is reasonable, and I’m never cold. I still love and wear my first good coat, bought more than 40 years ago. It looks brand-new still, even though I wore it every cold day through my entire career (it’s from Dior, pricey but worth it). Every time I compromised on fabric I regretted it, so I’m sticking better to high-quality fabrics nowadays.
Thanks Emma, you’ve saved me from wasting my time ordering their trousers 😃. I always thought Arket’s trousers would be long as the models look like they’re really tall 🙈. What a shame, yet another brand that won’t fit me 😩x
From experience they’re never long enough for me. Some (but only some) of the jeans are ok but unless the trousers are a cropped style I usually don’t bother ☹️
Hi, Emma! Thank you for the thorough review of Arket. I own two cashmere jumpers from Cos from previous seasons and bought one more piece a couple of weeks ago. I have to say, after comparison, this season's jumper fabric is a lot thinner😢
Is it the same style that you bought because not all their pieces are the same thickness. I bought some 3 years ago, a couple last year and then one this year/this season and they’re all the same kind of style and they’re all equally as thick. It’s just about knowing which ones are going to be the same thickness x
You should try Muji 🇯🇵 clothes Emma! It is great quality and simple. They used to have a store in Northern California where I live but now I order from the 🇺🇸 website. I have their shirts over years and it feels new!❤
Yeh we have Muji over here but I’m not really a fan of how their stores are laid out. They’re definitely aimed more towards home storage and stationary so it feels weird to look at clothing in a shop like that 🙊
I LOVE Muji and have definitely recommended it to Emma on this UA-cam page before hehe (commented under a different video - i think it was on linens because Muji linens are just BRILLIANT). We’re still suggesting you give Muji a try here Emma 😁😁😉 (to each their own of course!)
I don’t have a personal preference tbh. I like it, it’s not brushed so that it looks scruffy, it does have more texture but it’s still smooth, if that makes sense? 🥴🤣
Thank you for such an informative video! It’s so helpful to see ‘real life’ footage rather than modelled shots on the website! Loving the black wool coat you reviewed first - can I ask does it feel particularly heavy? I would love something like this but find coats with higher wool content often too heavy and not actually comfortable to live with 😔
Hi Emma, thank you for the video. You said that the cashmere jumper wash well. May i ask if you wash them in the machine? Would be very helpful to know because i just bought one in pink. Beautiful jumper, you are absolutely right!
I do indeed. I made a video a few years back that demonstrates how I launder my delicate fabrics like cashmere and nothing has changed from that video so check that out to see my process x
I realy love your try on's. Very helpfull, thanks. By the way: I picked up a wollen Arket sweater in burgundy with splits. They look very stylisch with wide leg trousers, without tucking, because they are a little cropped.
Tbh I don’t really buy knitwear that isn’t wool or cashmere or some other natural fibre 🙈 I could work on an edit of Emma-style jumpers that aren’t natural fibres, I wouldn’t buy them but they would be in keeping with my style x
@@EmmaHill That would be great. I can still wear cotton! What to look for in alternative fibers? What blend performs better? Just some other options. Thanks for the response! P.S. If you don't do a video, I won't be upset! 😊
Very useful thank you; especially Arket's trouser length! Does the Alpaca fabric feel a bit like mohair? Mohair used to irritate my eyes with the loose fluff!
They’re too short on me for the shape and volume in my personal opinion and for my personal preference but a pair of tailored trousers can be worn with so many different shoes so they are very versatile 🙌🏼
Hi Emma! I don't usually comment, but being COS and ARKET two brands under the H&M group, one can wonder how can the cashmere differs so much from one to another!! After all, it's all made in the same places. Of course, they can change some quality control among the Group Brands depending on the price point but ARKET and COS are very similar in price. Just a reflexion...
They are indeed all the same company but not made in the same factories or even the same countries from product to product. Aside from the fact that I own cashmere across all brands mentioned and therefore can see and feel the difference Cos uses GCS certified cashmere which is not the same cashmere that’s used for Arket or H&M. It’s also finer which adds to the softness. As I mentioned in the video the majority of Arket cashmere is blended with wool so that feels very different from Cos cashmere. H&M use a much thinner ply across most of their cashmere pieces which is why it has a lower price in comparison to the other two more premium brands, they also have much larger stock quantities which will also have an impact on the manufacturer and quality of fibres used x
@@EmmaHill I do understand as I also own Cashmere from different Brands and just like you COS is indeed the BEST. I even tried HM Premium cashmere and ended up returning it as it was unbearable itchy! I guess within this huge HM Group they produce according to different quality standards which reflects in the price they charge. I did enjoy your video, very informative. Thank you!
@@TheLisbonBloggerI used to love H&M premium cashmere. A few years ago it was so good but the quality has massively changed, which is standard of high street brands but yeh now it’s no where near as nice as it was. I’d much rather spend a bit extra and get the thick super soft Cos cashmere 🙌🏼 Thank you for watching ❤️
I know, sorry ❤️ It is so frustrating as whenever I upload/feature Arket pieces I have so many people from the US saying they would love to get hold of the items, so I don't believe the market isn't there 🤦♀️
Im so sensitive on my neck and really want to find a turtleneck or funnel neck jumper. Any ideas? And i so agree with these vents on the side of jumpers. Just realised that i have one, and im so enjoyed, lol. So i fully agree with you.😂 Are you going to do one haul with Cos aswell?
@lindasvenssonsmith4794 Same sensitivity problem here. I have an old turtleneck sweater that makes me scratch my throat when wearing it. I don't know exactly what the composition is, but it contains wool. I plan to buy a thin turtleneck T-shirt so it doesn't become too bulky, which can act as a buffer. I saw that the Intimissimi brand has a turtleneck in their ultralight range in a lot of colours. I usually wait to buy their modal with cashmere tops until there is a promotion. They are thin and see-through, yet they don't get holes in them. At least not for me. 😀
Ugh… those jumpers with slits are everywhere. I had had to buy a replacement for my previous knit (both not from arket) actually ended up sewing those slits together. Not a thing you want to do buying a new piece, but I was tired of browsing the market in search of perfect garment. And speaking of poppers - I’d rather have them on my outerwear than a zip, it feels less restrictive while driving, although, agree they aren’t flattering on coats, but quite practical
Would love to know about how to wear hats and the correct fabric to wear esp. for curly hair. If I put a hat on, I have trianglular hair afterwards. I also have 4b type hair so it's going to get frizzy with a hat.
I love that they use recycled down, I’ve never seen that in the US. It’s a great way to reuse old pillows, the down is cleaned like new, I’m sure. I’ve only seen one brand use recycled cashmere and a few use recycled wool. Recycled polyester, the only recycled fiber most brands offer, doesn’t count, I won’t wear it, either new or recycled. Recycled poly is mostly about greenwashing, to give brands some environmental cred. We have generally great recycling services where I live (“Zero Waste California”), but unfortunately, no textile recycling - it’s a shame.
It’s definitely a full time job trying to get your hands on something that’s sold out. I usually check the site several times a day because they will have returns that go back in to stock as well as restock products x
I have washed my others yes, they wash very well. Top tip, put a tennis ball in the tumble dryer and dry it on low, it puffs up the down inside the garment. You can also use wool dryer balls but I find a tennis ball works better because it’s heavier 👍🏼
Thank you ! I have never ordered there but visited their store. You made me laugh at 33:07 with the off white scarf jumper 😅 not practical at all. To all the Americans watching we can’t order at Canadian brands either sometimes. I was in Montreal and Quebec City and went to these stores on purpose because they don’t ship to Europe (they ship to the US) so we are also frustrated 😅
I have a 100% alpaca jumper and it itches. Not all alpaca will itch and not all people will feel an itch but it definitely is possible for any fibre, whether natural or synthetic to itch because it’s about the skins tolerance.
@EmmaHill Hola!
The vents are because those are layering knits so you can see the shirt undermeath. And you've obviously never been 5.1 ft standing on golf tees shorter than your arm. Unless it's cropped or sporting those giant slits up the sides to open it up a bit, i wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Those thigh length boxy knits that you like are a hideous "NOOOOOO" for me unless I want to look like Sponge Bob Square Pants. But you're right about just the band slit. That's annoying...can't even front tuck it. Hope that solves that difficult mystery for you.
Surely if wearing a shirt underneath the shirt would be longer than the jumper anyway so with or without the vents the shirt would be visible provided it was the right length. I think the jumpers are the perfect length, not too long and not too short but the vents are just so annoying. I do love my boxy oversized knits 😜
@ Yes they look good on you. I’m always envying them on my sis -in-law too. But she’s also 6 ft tall. Those people who say “oh you’re so tiny you look good in anything” just don’t get the styling nightmare of a 5.1 ft 98 pound girlie. When I go into the thrift store I’ll be there for 5 hours trying stuff on. I legitimately feel so cheated that all that time & effort doesn’t gain me anything….like I’m not a thrift vlogger or influencer or anything…I just need to not look like a cartoon character! 🙄 I had just given up on layering of any kind completely. Just neeeeeeever works on me (holy smack have I ever tried!) until I discovered those knits with the big slits up the sides. When you don’t ALWAYS wanna be in cropped (when I want bum coverage but NOT leg coverage 😅)…there’s no weird folding, bunching or bubble wing thing on the bum 🥰🌟💫🎉🎉👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 It just goes straight down & lets the world know my legs exist! Oh and by the way COS doesn’t exist here. For winter outerwear you need like Eddie Bauer or another brand that specializes in Sport/Mountain wear. So why am I watching this right??? 😂 It’s just entertainment. I’m always curious what’s out there & how people use it.
Poppers? Why. I just watched a silly movie last night, some fluff, and the main character was gorgeous but her coat had poppers left open and even in the dramatic moments, they were all I could see. No, thanks.
I would agree with this request. You seem VERY together mentally, emotionally etc. so knowing a bit more about that would be interesting. You also seem like a no nonsense kind of person with good boundaries.
I am definitely not together mentally or emotionally but obviously that’s not something you’d be able to see from videos about clothing, not once they’ve been well edited anyway. I have ADHD and living with my brain can be very testing at times but once I started learning more about how my brain works it definitely helped. This may be something I discuss at a later date but I’m still learning about my diagnosis and learning how to manage it so it feels a bit premature to discuss it right now x
@@biegebythesea6775 yes, I get a feeling Emma's good at having boundaries. I asked just because I'm at a point in my life where I'm dealing with this and I'm learning to put myself first. Not easy. Also Emma seems quite sensitive and emotionally mature so that's why m curious. Lots of love, and thank you for the reply 💗

I’d much rather spend a bit extra and get the thick super soft Cos cashmere 🙌🏼
Thank you for watching ❤️
You just nail these videos 🥰
Thank you ❤️
I'm so sad they don't ship to the US! Still love the content 😊
I know, sorry ❤️ It is so frustrating as whenever I upload/feature Arket pieces I have so many people from the US saying they would love to get hold of the items, so I don't believe the market isn't there 🤦♀️
Love your burgundy trainers! Can you tell me what brand they are? I need some burgundy in my life.
They are listed in the description box. If you scroll to the bottom they are in the section of ‘Additional items’ x
Im so sensitive on my neck and really want to find a turtleneck or funnel neck jumper. Any ideas? And i so agree with these vents on the side of jumpers. Just realised that i have one, and im so enjoyed, lol. So i fully agree with you.😂
Are you going to do one haul with Cos aswell?
Lots of people have asked so it is on the list although I don't know if I will fit it in this year, maybe early next year 👍
@lindasvenssonsmith4794 Same sensitivity problem here.
Wowww!!! Souch a fantastic video!!!!
Thank you, Im glad you enjoyed it ❤️
Would love to know about how to wear hats and the correct fabric to wear esp. for curly hair. If I put a hat on, I have trianglular hair afterwards. I also have 4b type hair so it's going to get frizzy with a hat.
I don’t really have any tips I’m afraid 🙈 if it’s cold I just wear the hat and then take a hair clip with me for when I get ‘hat hair’ 🤣
Yes the down is sterilised in hot temperatures before being used in the new garments, it’s great, like you say it’s not seen very often.
The wool pleated trousers are indeed changed, it was 100% wool (hopsack wool)
Yes that’s it! I was trying to remember the word and it’s ‘hopsack’ 🙌🏼 These new ones feel awful in comparison 🫠
My problem with Arket is their size range... they don't go up to my size, sadly.
I'm normally a UK14 for tops and I can wear a small size or even extra small for Arket and COS. Nonsensical
My problem with Arket is they don’t ship to the US. Would love that burgundy padded jacket 👌
Literally sitting watching in the khaki cashmere (and yes the slits are annoying 😂)
🤣🤣🤣
i’ve been trying to get that amazing brown bag from arket for ages and its been sold out forever ! how frustrating
It’s definitely a full time job trying to get your hands on something that’s sold out. I usually check the site several times a day because they will have returns that go back in to stock as well as restock products x
It’s sad they don’t have petite range
How does the down jacket wash? Have you ever washed it?
I have washed my others yes, they wash very well. Top tip, put a tennis ball in the tumble dryer and dry it on low, it puffs up the down inside the garment. You can also use wool dryer balls but I find a tennis ball works better because it’s heavier 👍🏼
Why do the pant sizes start at 32? Am I missing something, is it different to jeans?
Yes, jeans are sized as waist sizes like most denim brands (Levi’s for example) but trousers are sized in EU suzes x
Arket is a Swedish brand. Maybe you don't have it in US. Thought it was Cos you didn't have.
"How do you get to the indoors?" 😂
But how???? 😆
Hello my little star ❤
Good evening ❤️
I have lots of ARKET 100% cashmere?
From the UK? This jumper is the first piece I’ve ever seen so perhaps I just missed it previously. Odd because I go on the site every day 🙈
Alpaca no pica, busca sus propiedades. Son las fibras sintéticas las que sí
I have a 100% alpaca jumper and it itches. Not all alpaca will itch and not all people will feel an itch but it definitely is possible for any fibre, whether natural or synthetic to itch because it’s about the skins tolerance.
@EmmaHill Hola!

Helloooooooo 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hello 👋🏼❤️
When you don’t ALWAYS wanna be in cropped (when I want bum coverage but NOT leg coverage 😅)…there’s no weird folding, bunching or bubble wing thing on the bum 🥰🌟💫🎉🎉👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
It just goes straight down & lets the world know my legs exist!
Oh and by the way COS doesn’t exist here. For winter outerwear you need like Eddie Bauer or another brand that specializes in Sport/Mountain wear. So why am I watching this right??? 😂
It’s just entertainment. I’m always curious what’s out there & how people use it.
Not in Canada either sadly. 😢
Poppers? Why. I just watched a silly movie last night, some fluff, and the main character was gorgeous but her coat had poppers left open and even in the dramatic moments, they were all I could see. No, thanks.
I love this level of deification to the hatred of poppers 🙌🏼
Could you do a video on your process of how you decided to start prioritising yourself? ❤
