  • Sniping and Production mode Mother Sucker Hand Suction Dredge for getting Gold from Rivers and Creeks.
    / askjeffwilliams
    Today we decide to try out our new Hand Dredge on a small creek to test for Gold.
    The unit we are using has to modes.....Sniping for testing the area and for hunting Bedrock cracks and Crevices and.........
    Production Mode for pulling up large amounts of material to be fed into a vented 5 Gallon bucket.
    * SPECIAL NOTE *
    Mark the top of the discharge valve so as to keep the flapper valve ( Doggy Door ) up right and thus making it easier to seal.
    On this model look for the word " Bur Cam " and there should be a # 1 to the side of it. Mark this with white out as this is the top of the Flapper Valve. Try to keep this mark up right at all times for better sealing.
    We got our unit from Motherlode Prospecting Supplies.
    motherlodeprospecting.com/
    For better results you can attach the discharge tube of the Mother Sucker to a 36 inch Prospector Bazooka Gold trap sluice and work it continuously all day......

    Interesting tool.I have been using an old hand bilge pump from a boat for about 10 yrs. now. It looks almost identical. Limits the size of rocks it sucks up to >1/4". Got it at a garage sale for 2 bucks. Works great!

    My homemade pump/hand dredge has a tennis ball attached to a rope to prevent the gravel sliding out. I also don't use any cross bar on the end for preventing blockages - hasn't been an issue yet. Simple but works.

      I apreciate your response. My buddy who looks for gold in the Ca. central valley is wanting a metal detector which differentiates gold from other metals. He said you use one on your channel. Could you recommend a make and model for a quality unit. Randy is passionate about Gold in them there hills, so I told him to spend the extra $ for a proven detector. We value your expert advise. Have a terrific day, and I eagerly await your responce.

      you betcha and yes we should have mentioned that.the Flapper valve acts like a small doggy door and on the exit valve you should mark where the top of the rubber hinge is attached ( Top of the doggy door) so as to keep the top of the doggy door up and to help the flapper seal better. Hi Jeff, Thanks for today's video! It makes for great watching on a rainy Calif. morning. Nice snipping tool that can double as a water blaster too, ha ha ha. We need our fix of good friends and BBQ soon!!! We'll make plans. Take care my busy friend and say hi to the crew.
