@@GlobalNiko I don’t know how I know so little about this part of my state. My father lives right on the Niagara River and he’s in this little strip that seems to stay warmer. I am down in Sullivan and work in Ulster where it’s always ten degrees warmer in the valley. It’s really fascinating how this state has these weather lines that all depend on the lake effect. New sub
Here in Old Forge (a little East if Tug Hill) we get crazy lake effect snow. Schools do not close and kids can ride snowmobiles to school. We average 200” a year but at times get much more. I used to live in Lowville and my gosh it was a bit much with the snow.
It is actually a plateau. Not like an insanely high one like Tibet but a plateau nonetheless with elevations of 1,000-2,000ft whereas surrounding areas have elevations less than 1,000ft.
Tug Hill region actually starts at Central Square NY, 20 miles north of Syracuse, and extends north to Watertown and east into the Adirondacks.
Usually the first to see snow in NYS. Great video
Thank you! Heard some areas upstate got their first snow just now!

Okay but is it actually a plateau or is that just a name?
