      Problem with Halon once that triggered you got very very little time to get out period, because Halon takes all the oxygen out of the air meaning you can suffocate. I worked as a contract security officer for a couple of years during my career at Fulton County Government Center one of the areas we were assigned to patrol as interior building Patrol Rovers, was the record room where court records are stored and they have a Halon system installed ., the only thing we had to do was check and make sure that the exterior and interior doors for the area were secured when you first entered the room on one of the walls was a warning alarm and Beacon period its purpose was to let you know the system was about to be activated and you had a short period of time before the system was triggered causing the room to be flooded with Halon as a fire suppression method that would not damage the records stored in the space

    • @OmegaTou
      @OmegaTou 2 роки тому +139

      @@arnoldsherrill6305 umm, that's not how Halon work. It chemically disrupts combustion, and is remarkably safe for human exposure. That's the whole reason it was developed in the first place. Otherwise you could flood the area with CO2. CO2 is a well-known, well understood oxygen displacer that gets used in fire suppression systems that DOES have the dangers which you are talking about. Maybe that was the system that was installed in the records room? Or maybe the people there just didn't understand how Halon works?

The best toy they have is shotgun like device or maybe gernade launcher is more accurate , that shoots balls that burts into flames to start a lot of fires some distance away from you.

This disengages the motorized opener, allowing the door to be opened easily from the inside (or outside). Yeah. To be honest, the firefighting and medical technique in Emergency! is unimaginably better than this 911 response crap. Outdated as it is, it was more logical. A little bit heavy on shocking right into sinus rhythm but it was way, way more realistic anyway. Better show!

It'd be fun because firefighting has evolved so many ways that it would be funny to see the modern firefighter be like "Wait you're going to just tie a rope around your waist. Johnny, that's a 10 floor drop, it will kill you if you fall... and you still owe me $10."
      "Hey guys, that truck might have Hazmats, maybe we should put air masks and turnout pants on... No? Okay? Are we really doing this in our station shoes?"

      The writers for Emergency had to *prove* each scenario came from a fire department log book. They could change circumstances (rescues in Florida might not work so well in LA), but it all had to be real. And they had I-don't-know-how-many firefighters and paramedics to consult.
