I've just downsized to the Kia Picanto for a couple of years for the daily commute to work. I thought that I would hate it although my last car was a Kia which I loved to bits . I shouldn't have worried. Of all the cars I have had, mostly family hatchbacks, the Picanto is one of the best cars I have owned. It does everything and more. Love it!
I bought a Kia Picanto months ago. I am quite tall and can still sit comfortably in this car. The sitting position is very good and the car steers and shifts wonderfully. The car is cheap to maintain. Am very happy with it!
I've had my Picanto for nearly 2 weeks now! His name is Jim and he is awesome! Such a great little car!! Everything is smooth, the heater is quick to heat up or cool down. Brilliant! Love it! :D
Absolutely fantastic review. Informative, unbiased, and not a lot of clever dick comedy for the sake of it. The review held my interest from beginnin to end :)
I test drove one of these on Monday, the 3door '1'. The clutch and gearbox were smooth as silk (I thought I was going to stall it having been used to a 10 year old KA's clutch and gearbox but I didn't) the brakes are very responsive and as a result are "Grabby" they came in very handy when I had to stop suddenly for an ambulance speeding around a round about. Have to say I felt extremely safe in this little car I am VERY excited to get my brand new one hot off the production line in September.
Up, it's more refined and better finished but there is a price difference between the two and not to mention the warranty. Test them both and you'll spot the difference.
@MultiDean75 It's true that the Picanto is a great little car. The clutch and brake thing is something you get used too. It's the weight of the car, when there's less car to stop the brakes do a better job. There is a light clutch in it and the bite is very easy to find. That said, I jump in and out of cars so often I get used to all kinds of brakes and clutches. Well done and keep between the hedges.
thanks for the great review! i am going to test drive myself tmrw. love it and will buy it! kia's confident with the quality that they dont mind 7 years warranty. but more importantly, i love the design. it's cute and i will never get bored of it.
Glad to see my videos getting far and wide! The Picanto here is one of the most affordable in the segment, I'm not hearing about problems in the first year of ownership either so you must be doing a good job building them. Thanks for watching!
Nice review! Greetings from South Korea where Picantos are made! I am looking to purchase this car as a daily driver. Here in Korea, the Picanto has been a huge success, but it also gets lots of criticism for being pricey, not responsive or sporty enough, and many first-year defects. Anyhow, it's refreshing to see a review that has taken things well in perspectives. Thanks!
Very good review! I drive Picantos every day and I agree with basically everything that you say. The steering is not the most fun to do sharp turns (even if it very easy to handle) and it is one of the very few negative points with this car. Have tested the "new others" (Up and Citygo) and they are good, but the Picanto still feels like a better car in general.
I've been considering getting a Picanto or a VW Up recently as my next car and this review has just tipped it over the edge for me in favour of the Kia. The 1.0L engine seemed to handle itself very well on the motorway in the video - so the 4 cylinder 1.25L should be more than enough for me (0 to 62mph in about 11.4 seconds I think, same as the 1.4L Nissan Note lease car I'm currently driving). Definitely considering getting it in white with black wheels!
Got my 3year old 1.25 eco dynamic in 2015......its now 2024....still got it ,had to have new break calipers recently , Cheap insurance...cheap to run...
I'VE HAD ONE OF THESE FOR 3 DAYS WHILST MY HYUNDAI IN FOR SOME JOBS, AND IT IS FANTASTIC!!!!! Such fun to drive, so comfortable, really goes too!! and sounds like a Ferrari ha!! If I had to buy a small city car, this would be it, gonna be sorry takin it back later, love it, buy one!!
Kia's in Ireland are holding their value well, the current crop are very sought after cars when used because they hold together and the warranty is with the car. If there are better value cars on the market why don't they offer the same length warranties
Here in the USA, we get 10 years/100,000 miles! Dear Kia, please put the steering wheel on the other side, and ship the darned thing to the USA. Thank you. (Kia/Hyundai owner for 10 years now!) Nice review, by the way.
I wish you all the best with this wonderful car. I love the colour because you needn't wash it all the time. Can't tell you how happy I am with the wee yoke. Safe on the road!
No car company covers parts that wear out, they cover parts that have a fault through the way it was fitted or the way it was made. If the gearbox had to be changed after 5 years chances are it was worn out as something would have went wrong with it long before if there was a problem with Kia side. Watch your warranties because you could end up getting something like a Merc with only a 2 year warranty, read the fine print
I have the new Picanto and I absolutely loving it! It is efficiant, fast enough and only needs about 5l/100. It has lots of extras .... but no ashtray :-)
My opinion is that they are quite good! I drive Picantos the whole day (the company has 18!). Ergonomically speaking (and using my opinion has a physiotherapist) they are also quite good.
I´ve watching your reviews and find it to be very good, honest and direct to many of my common points of interest, so keep up the good work..My question to you would be if you would buy this picanto 3cly or the peugeot 107/citroen C1/toyota aygo, same type of use for the city/town mainly, due to the fact that the engine is a toyota and gear box on all three would give me a little more comfort in knowing that...but engines aside what do you think?
car warranties generally only cover mechanical damage, and not damage from over-use/extensive use. In fact, when my cousin brought his kia picanto 5 years after having bought the car to change his gear box and his weel axel he was told that the warranty didn't cover damage caused by extensive use. So I ask, what is the point of a 7 year warranty if the parts are only changed if not damaged by use? Personally the last thing I look at is warranty, Kia picanto is a decent car though.
Picanto is the best of your bunch because it's the most sensible. It being a Kia you won't get any trouble from it. The 107 and C1 are the same car with different exteriors and the Aygo is too small, clever though. The Picanto should be cheaper that all of them with more kit in it.
So what Is the updated trim level called? I would like to avoid the standard trim as I think it's a bit too basic and I'm looking for this version with aircon and all that. Thanks 👍
I'm thinking about getting this car and I've heard the clutch and brakes take some getting used to. As they're quite sharp and grabby? Did this take a while to get used to?
thanks for the review, may i just ask is it comfortable to drive, ? I mean are the seat comfortable especially when driving for 2 hours going to work and 2 hours return? tell me about the seats for driver and passengers please.
Mazda 2 is slightly bigger and a bit more fun to drive in petrol version. Picanto is cheaper and has a longer warranty. I'd buy the Picanto just because I like driving it as a daily car.
Precisely what I was saying, in 7 years time any piece will wear out, no matter the brand. Since they do not change wore out parts, there is no point in a 7 year warranty when usually after 4-5 years you'll change them with your own money since the warranty doesn't cover it. This is why I look at the car first, at its performance second, its commodity for third, and lastly at the warranty, cause no matter what you do, 9 times out of 10 you wont even benefit from your warranty.
Hyundai i10 or one of these? I prefer the i10 for some reason, I just trust this brand even if the warranty is less. Can't really argue much because they both are well built and well equipped tbh.
the best car reviews on the internet, i'm Scots and its refreshing to have a guy same as ourself s reviewing cars so brilliantly , love your face when she makes it to 120kph :), youve talked me in to it. this is the car for me
I never had a car that was easier to drive. Clutch is smooth, and the brakes are better than with the car I had before. The engine purrs like a kitten even if you are driving 140+ km/h. Do a test drive and see how you feel about it.
That dude is 6'1 the same as me.. there's no way that front seat was adjusted for comfortable driving. Lets face it, this is a 2 person car realistically, it's not a family car, and sticking people in the back for anything longer than a short trip is cruel and unusual punishment. But that's ok, because it looks like a very nice little car and perfect for urban singles or couples. Although I'd hate to take it out on an Aussie "highway".
The Kia Picanto scored 4 stars in the NCAP rating which is the same or better than its competitors. Kia has a 7 year warranty on all their cars which is the longest warranty from any car maker. I take my responsibility seriously, come back with some facts for me and I'll entertain more comments otherwise take your trolling elsewhere. Thanks, Bob
Easy, Picanto please. Chevy aren't that good at the small cars in Europe. They just don't have it yet, I'm sure they'll get better but I'd rather have the Kia

This review was one of two that convinced me to buy my kia picanto and I have no regrets!
I got my picanto City on the back of this review, and can honestly say it's a fantastic little car, makes me smile when I drive it....
I've had my Picanto for nearly 2 weeks now! His name is Jim and he is awesome! Such a great little car!! Everything is smooth, the heater is quick to heat up or cool down. Brilliant! Love it! :D

Fabulous, I'm delighted for you. It's a great little car and Jim should serve you well for many years. Keep it between the ditches!
Great review and I like your style, the 1.25L engine has four cylinders and is 11 seconds to 60mph with excellent economy and zero road tax

Brilliant review: covered everything you need to know.
Cheers dude, as a newer alternative check out the VW UP/Skoda Citygo/SEAT Mii cars, they are great. I still have a soft spot for the Picanto though
Proper review, many thanks, we are thinking of swapping our Peugeot 107 after 6 trouble free years and this may tempt us
I'VE HAD ONE OF THESE FOR 3 DAYS WHILST MY HYUNDAI IN FOR SOME JOBS, AND IT IS FANTASTIC!!!!! Such fun to drive, so comfortable, really goes too!! and sounds like a Ferrari ha!! If I had to buy a small city car, this would be it, gonna be sorry takin it back later, love it, buy one!!
Just bought one, it is a fantastic little on the outside car. 58MPG on a mixed drive.
Kia's in Ireland are holding their value well, the current crop are very sought after cars when used because they hold together and the warranty is with the car. If there are better value cars on the market why don't they offer the same length warranties
Best of luck with it, it's a fine little car with more personality than the Note, I'm sure you'll love it

@grgfourtinas Thanks very much, I'm glad you like it!
Brilliant review bob. I like ur style..truly honest. thanks fr the help in making me decide fr the right car.
I think you can buy the cup type ashtray from your dealer, it fits in the door pocket or the cup holder.
I wish you all the best with this wonderful car. I love the colour because you needn't wash it all the time. Can't tell you how happy I am with the wee yoke. Safe on the road!
@grgfourtinas that's a huge complement, thanks very much for watching!
It looks like I'm getting one of these as my first car. I had a look around the one I'm getting yesterday and already I love it

Hi, Nice review. In South Africa we have the VW Polo Vivo as a budget model from VW. Would you pick the Picanto above it?
car warranties generally only cover mechanical damage, and not damage from over-use/extensive use. I'm glad you're happy, it's a great little car that should give you many happy years of service. Let us know how you get on with it
Forgot:Mine is titanium metallic and looks stunning in this colour!

2022 this is quite prophetic
i would like this car . what price in sri lanka now
Good video review

Can you share your opinion about Suzuki Ignis?
Especially between Picanto and Ignis?
Mine is lemongrass in color and it is so darn cute😄😄😄
Excellent review. You should review the Mitsubishi Mirage as well, another underrated car, costing less and consuming less fuel than this KIA.
Yes you make me want to buy all the cars you review,a great sales man.
Down to looks on this one, they'll both drive the same really.
Definitely the best car review channel on UA-cam.
What about the choice between Picanto or Chevrolet Spark?
I just wonder about the reliability of the Hyundais/Kias. I like the Rio, but who knows if they'll last 250k miles.
the best car reviews on the internet, i'm Scots and its refreshing to have a guy same as ourself s reviewing cars so brilliantly , love your face when she makes it to 120kph :), youve talked me in to it. this is the car for me
sunroof?? and u didn't show voice over system...
I've also today bought one in this color! :D
nice review guy...keep it on...
Picanto is more refined and better finished! The i10 has a more "sporty" and direct drive (specially when one refers to the steering).
I never had a car that was easier to drive. Clutch is smooth, and the brakes are better than with the car I had before. The engine purrs like a kitten even if you are driving 140+ km/h. Do a test drive and see how you feel about it.
KIA Picanto 1.25 ISG ecodynamics is the only road tax free car under 10K with 0-62 mph under 12 seconds !!
l got one in hong kong, it's really a good car for the reasonable price.
what about the choice between picanto and ford fiesta?
Now 3 years later... up to speed at all yet???
Huh?
Well the video was from several years ago... I figured by now she may have gotten up to 60MPH on the motorway!

It´s the 1.0?
great review and the picanto is a good little car for peanuts money & very cheap to run.😁
Absolutely fantastic review. l think you deserve a pint for that Pal. :D
You buying?
Absolutely Pal :D
Picanto. 5 years more guaranty then the vw, much more features for your money
is the 1.2 A/T variant good as well? daily I travel around 15km highway and 15 city driving
well? how was it?
Nice car
maybe i will buy one,,,i mean a used car picanto in Phil. what do u think huh,,he,he
I love it
Is this kia picanto better than hyundai i10 ?
The new i10 is supposed to be very good and as Kia and Hyundai are basically the same company I'd imagine they'll be very alike
Easy, Picanto please. Chevy aren't that good at the small cars in Europe. They just don't have it yet, I'm sure they'll get better but I'd rather have the Kia
ps. Epic intro ;)
more camera angles next time please =]
@benny5825 If only I was a sales man I might make some money from the videos :) It is genuinely how I feel about the Picanto
Objective? I don't think you understand the meaning of that word. Bye
Still buying a used kia picanto 2016 as my first car in 2024
