    Hi Garrett. Always nice to see your videos. A tip for those who dont know...and that you can mention to spread the word. Most modern TVs have the function to work as art pieces or open fire illusions. They are really nice and have decorative frames as well. That way the TV is the focal point but not a big boring black thing in the way. I have always joked to my friends that my TV is modern art. I mean if Yves Klein marine blue painting can be sold for 9 million, my Black monochromatic thing on the wall can be expensive art..hihi

      Too many leggy pieces in my formal living room-leggy sofa, matching chair, 2 side tables, and coffee table. That is a lot of legs! Looks too stiff. Cannot afford to replace any of the pieces. I think I could put a basket or something under the leggy tables to "ground" them. Any suggestions?

    Can you please please make a video of tv placement with windows!! I have a rectangular living/dining area with sliding glass doors in both sections and a chimney in between the sliding doors. I have trying to decide where to hang a tv and what size to buy?? Over the chimney, on the opposite wall of sliding glass doors? My rectangle living room is right at the entrance (no space to create separate area for front entrance) of our standard 1960's track home. Only our dog uses the living room for her exclusive hangout space and to see who is coming to our home. No room for table but do have sofa on one side and seating bench with never used piano (not my idea).

I would rather have a comfortable conversational space. When we move, I am hoping that we will have a finished basement where a TV setup can go, possibly with a sectional and round coffee table of course for entertaining guests who come to stay over…Thanks again Garrett, it’s always great to watch your videos 🤗❤️🇨🇦

    After MUCH sketching, and shifting furniture around, I finally found a good solution for our long and narrow living room with a corner fireplace- and it is pretty much the last one you suggested! I refuse to put my tv above my fireplace, so I had to consider my media console, as well as a large window with a baseboard heater under it. Thanks for this video! With a few tweaks I think it will work well 😊

  • @EvelynM-vlogs

    We have two "condo" couches at right angles to each other taking up two sides of a conversation square. Then there is a swivel, reclining chair on the third side but next to the couch not on the far corner of the square. Two condo couches still seat 3 people each but at 7ft long, they do not take up as much space as a regular 8ft sofa - love them.
    The fourth side has the fireplace with TV above. I really dislike TVs beside a fireplace. Round coffee table in the middle (I have nailed my shins on too many rectangular or square ones to ever want those again), the square grouping is enter-able on the two sides by the fireplace wall with a walkway behind all three sides and most definitely a large rug, I think its 9x12.

I will use the idea from your video to use the same throw/pillows on Both chairs. (thank you so much for that great idea,). Any other suggestions for that unmatched chair, so it blends in better with the sofa and other chair ?

    • @ShelleybutyoucancallmeShell
      @ShelleybutyoucancallmeShell Рік тому

      You can always get a slipcover. Amazon has many, as well as other sites. You can also drape a throw or blanket (even over a slipcover) to make the chair look nicer. I myself find putting the toss cushions from the other furniture on top of a mismatched piece of furniture actually off-putting as it draws even more attention to the fact that the piece of furniture is not matching the others.
      So:
      1- slipcover
      2- new chair
      3- remove the chair
      4- embrace, or make peace, with the odd man out piece of furniture.

Our couch is parallel to the fireplace and our two chairs are opposite the fireplace. Our living room isn't very large so we don't have a coffee table but have tables by all of the seating so people have a place to put drinks or anything else. A wonderfully informative video as usual. No joke, I don’t even think Garrett could tackle my floor plan. It’s a huge square room- sounds easy, right? Yah, not so much. It has four entrances and exits. It’s so jacked up, they quit offering the layout- right after my condo was built in 2003. I’m the only one out of the other 40-50 killer units who’s stuck with this layout. I’ve hired a few top notch designers. While they all gave ideas, they were all simultaneously stumped on how to make the area look cool, while still being functional. Yes, it’s that bad. One very experienced designer flat out said, “This floor plan should be a reality TV competition for designers. I’ve never seen anything like it.” So that’s been fun to deal with for 20 years.🙄
