I agree. 4yrs ago, I was in a toxic relationship & the guy was awful, abusive, and narcissistic. After I finally left him, I was so broken, I didn't think I'd ever be whole again. Then I met my current boyfriend and he saw just how broken I was and he took the time to put me back together. 3.5yrs later, we're still together and I'm the happiest I've ever bee. But I would listen to this song a lot during the 6mo after my ex and I broke up. It helped a lot.

It’s crazy how pure country this song is. I never realised it when I was younger. This is probably the first country music video filmed in Paris. This song is really hits different after i broke up with my toxic ex.
The reason why i broke up with him is, he never appreciate me for who i am. He always compared me to other people aka his first love, he said i can't cook well than his ex, can't do make up well than his ex, and bla-bla-bla.

I used to dislike her for no reason whatsoever. I started actually listening to her music (especially the ones that don't play on the radio 24/7) and watching her interviews and I discovered what a decent, quirky and kind person she really is. I think her reputation for being "whiny" about breakups in her songs is because those types of songs really resonate with her target audience.. This means those are the songs that become popular and played over and over on a daily basis. She covers many other things in a lot of her songs if you give her a chance and a listen.
Well said. I think that last bit should (but doesn't) resonate with more people, to put their preconceived notions aside and listen, whether its a song, an artist, a family member, a friend. More people need to listen, we wouldn't have so many problems if more people had people they could talk to.
I too am getting annoyed at the break up whine thing, now I think there are people who just post on any of her songs that its another break up song because they think its the "cool" thing to do lol not because they've listened to the song a couple times and analyzed what she's actually singing about, they just want to post it first to look like hot shit. Honestly, people whine about her break up songs as much as those songs get played and then they feel that their opinions are so original and truthful.
I didn't know how to say it either. It's not that I ever really disliked her, something just felt off. I didn't feel like calling myself a fan because it isn't fair given how passionate her fans are, but I love her. She is so sweet and and nice .

I'll be honest with you, I used to make fun of her simply because it was the 'cool' thing to do (while secretly listening to just about every 'whiny' song of hers out there, its not my fault they have great lyrics and a catchy melody :p) and think of her as only someone I listen to when theres nothing else to play. Then I heard 'Ronan' and realized how versatile she is as an artist. It kinda forced me to see her for who she is (or atleast see the image she's kept up for the past 8, years)- a talented, down to earth songwriter and singer who, like every other girl out there, likes to date guys, and is subject to heartbreak. Maybe its all just for the media, but I don't care. Anyone who works this hard on her 'image' deserves all the success she has. And anyone as talented as her, deserves every bloody award out there.

She's such a phenomenal songwriter. She can capture emotion in very few words and I think that's what has made her fans so devoted. You don't listen to her music just because the music is good (like for most pop songs) you listen because the words mean something and I think that builds a stronger relationship. She gives her fans a piece of herself in her songs and that's why they're so loyal. This hasn't change with her music style changing. If you listen to the words in reputation they are some of her best lyrical work to date!
