- This video is a little different and may not be of interest to a lot of you, but it maybe helpful for any Mercedes Vito owners looking to replace a window regulator pulley.
I searched for content on UA-cam that related to the window regulator pulley, but I couldn't find anything so I made my own.
Just did it. Took no longer than 20 mins total. Much appreciated
Absolutely a pleasurable video. Thank you so much for this! All I need is two of those replacement cogs now.
That cable tie trick is worth a thumbs up on it's own 👍
Something went wrong with it and i have found the 2 cables twisted really bad. Must replace both now. Thanks for the vid man. Really helpful!
This vid has been a life saver - so easy to follow, - thanks for posting 😊
I am glad it has helped!
I have the pleasure of replacing mine this coming weekend, thanks for video bud wish me luck
Weird same as me mines just went😔
Very nicely filmed video, clear instruction.
Thank you, I hope it helps!
Thanks Mate, this Video helps a lot!
My Vito did the same. I just drilled 2mm holes into both sides of the gear the broke/sheared off into the centre of each tooth and inserted steel wire pins 2mm dia about 12mm long and re assembled. It works perfectly, did the same to the other side when it broke about 18 months later that was 5 years ago. Total cost of repair $0.00 just 1.5hrs of my time per window. I didn't need to touch the cable at all.
This sounds like an ultimate hack!
Brilliant video.thank you.
Brilliant video mate thanks for the cable tie trick I’m sure I’ll use it loads
Thanks! It is all still working since the repair.
Great video very well explained and filmed - guess tomorrows job?
Thank you, and good luck for tomorrow! Be sure to let us know how you get on.
I just had my electric window fail. Initially I thought it was the repair I carried out 5 years ago, but It wasn't.
This time another nylon component failed.
What failed: The cable that winds on the window up has a nylon stopper that holds back the cable outer sheath. The design of the stopper slides into the slotted metal mounting plate. To prevent the nylon stopper pulling away from the plate the nylon stopper has a moulded tab at the back if it so it can only slide onto the plate. Well that tab broke, a loud bang as I tried to close the window. The window would not go up. After taking the door shell off I could see the stopper tab broke nd pulled out of the slotted plate. I cut a block of high density plastic 20x20x30mm drilled an offset hole 7mm dia along the 30mm length. In position using the damaged stopper as a guide. I then cut away excess material to produce a 9mm long x10mm tube with the 7mm hole down the centre . This is for the winder tension spring to fit over while allowing the winding cable sleave to slide inside the 7mm hole. Next I cut 2 slots approx 2mm wide along the block, this is the allow it to slide into the slotted plate. There is more meat on the back of the new stopper to prevent it from breaking and pulling through the slotted metal mounting plate. The final thing to do was to cut a slot so the winder cable could pass through just like the original nylon stopper.
It was a light fit reassembling the fabricated stopper but I did get it in position and the window works perfectly again. All up It took an 1 1/2 hrs to take to cover off and fabricate and re assemble. I have made a second stopper in case the window down cable stopper fails as they are identical or if the same problem occours on the passanger door. The second stopper too just 1/2 hour the complete.
thankyou well explained

Hi, this is the item that I purchased.

Given that mine haven't worked for 5 years do you think complete regulator would be better in case things have seized. Money's tight, cheers for the video mate
I would say if you can move the window up and down with your hands quite freely, go with the pulley. Can you hear the motor running?
Do you have a link to the part needed?
