Been running this exact model jacket for the last 3 months. It also breathes extremely well and is comfortable in a wide variety of climates and conditions. 100% worth the money. It is recommended to hand wash and hang dry just like any wool product.
What has been your experience with this Duckworth jacket since you posted the video? Specifically, what is the wear and tear like and are you happy with it?
That looks like a very nice piece of kit. I have a classic 30 year old NZ made (made in China now) Swanndri wool bushshirt. Has some water resistance but is not windproof, but otherwise very comfortable. I also have a Bushbuck Ranger Bushshirt which is synthetic, made in China but is a step up from the Swanndri in several ways. It's windproof, good water resistance and has draw cords and lots of pockets. The downside is its bulk and weight. The Duckworth looks like a good all round solution to the warmth, wind, weight, water resistance conundrum, well worth the cost.
theyre lower in stock right now, im more likely to buy slightly larger sizes to allow for bulky layers underneath, but all they had in Black were Womens Medium and Mens Small, but i ordered both and we'll see if either of them fit well. ive had my current lighter/fall-spring jacket for YEARs and its actually still in good condition but doesnt have a hood, its all synthetic, Mountain Hardware, i love it. bUt im excited to finally upgrade and try out this great product from a USA company. I'm in southern NH, certainly doesnt get as cold here as it does in the big mountains and open lands of the west but it still gets chilly. and having to layer in the winter time can be annoying when all the clothing starts to feel too bulky
I’m thinking about all the winter clothes I have and while I’m not an outdoor person I still have lots of money invested in keeping warm out there. I’m just southeast of Edmonton Alberta Canada
Try it on before you take the tags off they tend to fit exactly to size so you may need to exchange it for a larger model if you want more room. Just in case😉
Purchased this after your first video on this jacket. The exterior felt like it would not hold up (thin). Also, unfortunately mine had an unstitched area and the wool was exposed. Wanted to like it but had to return it. I went with the Hill People Gear Windcheater instead and will layer under it.
I had the same feeling about how thin it was l. So far it has surprised me. That's interesting about the stitching. I had the same issues. Where was your unstiched area located?
@@PreparedAirman The stitching issue on mine was near the pocket (2-3 inches). It was like that from the factory. To Duckworth’s credit, they refunded the entire amount with no questions asked and sent me a return label.
-55 F? regular temperature in your area of lower mainland USA? I'm in the far north of Canada and even we don't get that as a normal winter temperature. Maybe 1 or 2 days a year hit that low.
I went to Duckworth's websight, I found only nine jackets in stock, all small in size. Either they need you to get back on the job, or quit selling them faster than they can make them.
I'm interested in this jacket but I don't think the 2XL will be big enough! Too many hours in the gym and too broad across the shoulders! And I don't think they offer a 3XL.....but It seems like a damn solid jacket!
@P.A., What has been your experience with this Duckworth jacket since you posted the video? Specifically, what is the wear and tear like and are you happy with it?
Thanks for the vid. -50, seriously? It looks like nothing lol. I wonder if it would be the perfect mid layer for extreme cold, under a wind cheater or tougher light shell, maybe help with durability, and it compressing not as big a concern. Seems pretty affordable compared to other commercial options like kuiu, kifaru, arcteryx, etc.
It didn't excel at -50 but with proper layers of wool, it worked. I would add other layers again if I ever deal with that temperature again. It's -11 as I type this response lol.
Question, do you mind telling me what size you are wearing and how tall, weight? Sorry, I know, probably tmi but I am right on the upper edge of the size chart and wondering if I need to bump up a size. Thank you!
It fits exactly to size. I would recommend one size larger to afford more room for layers and movement. The cuffs are elastic so they won't fall over your hands if you get a larger model as well.
It was exactly to size. I would go one size bigger if you would like to have a bit more room. Plus the cuffs are Elastic so they won't slide over our hands.
Quality is worth paying for. I am a firm believer in "buy the best, cry once".

DuckWorth WoolCloud it is!! As always, thank you for the tried and true gear recommendations Airman!!🙏🏽🇺🇲
When it comes to wool, it's almost like mother nature knew what she was doing.
Almost eh¿.
And you?

Just purchased one in Small, thank you for the honest reviews!

That flannel looks good. I think I would prefer the Lester River Anorak with the USGI wet weather jacket over the top.
Very good option aswell!
Nice jacket! Yes, wool is highly recommended!! 👌
Perhaps you could examine WeatherWool Rambouillet wool jackets?

The Wind Cheater jacket is a rebranded First Spear product.
@@XDWX Correct. Just a differencs like the ability to attach a coyote ruff.
@@pauljohnson4662 I didn't know that about the ruff. Good to know.

Average or wasn't the best word to use. I see -55 every year for a couple of days. Maybe a week. So it's regularly occurring every year.
Looks great! Out of stock in my size. Arghhhhh

Is this still available in multicam? I've been looking on the website.
I have heard rumors that it isn't currently available. Unknown if they are bringing it back.
Good video as always brother

@@PreparedAirman you think the woolcloud vest is worth looking at for negative temps to layer under a shell?

Im wearing a medium. I'm 5'11" 150lbs. I would go with a large if I were to buy it again.
Do they not sell this jacket anymore? I only see the one color on their website and sold out.
I will be finding out shortly. I was unaware they were out of stock. I'll inquire about it.
Do you have to pay for your active duty jackets and winter clothing
No, the MASIFF Jacket and the LVL 7 parka were issued to me from my unit. I will turn them back into my supply section when a move to another base.
How is it under ir with an illuminator?
I did a little night vision filming with it. I didn't notice much. I'll go back and see.
How does this pack down?
It will compact down to the size of a Nalgene bottle.
how's the fit on this jacket size wise?
