@@spencer6601 In SaabKyle04's Jimmy series he just got a small, long hinge from the hardware store and cut it to the length of the console lid. Then screwed it into the lid, and the plastic base. That's what I'm planning to do as well, but I was considering trying to reinforce the mounting areas with JB weld also.
Not sure if you'll see this but how did it hold up over a period of these last 3 years? I have a vehicle that has pretty much the same issue. A little less damage than what yours had so if it works for the one that you had all busted up, it'll work on my end as well
It's actually held up quite well. The smallest section of the skin, by the release button has pulled away ever so slightly. An easy fix but it's so insignificant that I haven't worried about it. I'm pretty sure the structure itself is still stronger from the repair than it was originally.
How did you bond the edges of the grey foam rubber to the ABS? I have an 03 Malibu and the edges of my center console are kinda stretched a bit. Id love to find a glue that will bond these two.
I used this glue: amzn.to/3naZUYv It expands as it dries so help fill up any voids. Just make sure to use enough clamps and let it fully cure. Also I would use a flat piece under the clamps. I didn't do that and ended up with some small dimple marks.
I once tried to rebuild the door armrest structure in a similar way. I made it better but mine was too far gone to make perfect. For the surface I did use the Peroxide cream to brighten it up just like I did in this video. My eventual plan is to CAD model and then 3d print a new structure for the door armrest, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. If you've got $300 to spend I see someone is reproducing them again. www.ebay.com/itm/202701371651?fits=Model%3AS10&hash=item2f31f17903%3Ag%3AQz8AAOSw8Mphm8nh&LH_ItemCondition=1000
What did you do for the hinge
I actually haven't done anything for the hinge yet. The console lid is just sitting on top, not attached right now.
@@VHickleGarage any ideas?

Are you ginormous or a very low bench?
Lol it's the bench and the angle. I'm a pretty average size person.
