The chief Bobber dark horse is amazing! I had a Harley Davidson sportster lol. And the chief is insane for me. Not too big, and not too small. Just perfect. Aweosme bike you have there! Enjoy it and cannot wait for the mods you will do.
992 miles on mine as of today, but now its in the shop for a stage 2 kit. I added footpegs and the passenger seat, its a little more comfortable than the stock seat but I kinda want to switch them on and off as needed as I don't like the look riding solo with the pegs and passenger seat. Other than that, its been a great bike so far and I have owned many in the past. I agree the delay in the screen starting up is kind of annoying and so is ... if gps loses signal when you stop to put gas in, the display resets over from the beginning and will never resync with where you are. .... i found the only solution is to cancel current trip, and enter it over again.
This bike is the one I chose over the chief dark horse as it is much more solid looking and prettier. It has torque and I don't need less weight removing trims. I must also say that it is a mile-eater, in my case it made me much more comfortable than my iron HD. I chose this model over the Low rider HD because it seems to be the driving position is more comfortable, because of the technology and because it was cheaper, honestly the price of the low rider in Europe is irrational and disproportionate.
Would love to see the Scout - Chief comparison video you are planning to do. I’m on the edge which one to get. Really into the Scout, but you get so much more of a bike for your buck with the Chief (i.e. proper suspension, LED headlight, touch screen, bigger bike), that financially it makes more sense. However, I like that the Scout is lighter, more nimble/sporty, and thus probably better for around town riding and might also be more dynamic/fun to ride. Can you talk about all the things you like about one VS the other? Thanks in advance!
Yeah that’s true! Seems like you’re pretty familiar with both already. It can also be a fun process upgrading the scout to your liking. Thanks for watching!
It just comes down to personal preference.. do you want a 700lb bike? I didn't, so I went with the Scout Rogue and have zero regrets. I love the specific seat, and I really don't mind the suspension. I rode 200 miles for a bike run the other day and had no problems. Upgraded headlight dropped to the bottom of my priority list once I realised I'm not out much at night on the bike. I don't need tech on the bike, so the dash was nothing I cared about. I find the Rogue better looking than the Chief, low rider S, and the fat bob. I ride very free spirited and plan to do the big bore kit on the Rogue in the near future.
@@thehomeless_trucker Weight is the major factor that keeps puzzled about the Chief as well. I do like the seating position of the Dark Horse and Sport Chief with the mid controls though. They also look better with the larger body parts in my IMHO than the Scout Rogue, but the weight is really what puzzles me. The Scout is due for a major upgrade. I will wait out their 2024 model announcement in early-mid November and take it from there.
I just stopped at my local Indian dealer and checked out the Chief models. I went in looking at a standard Chief. That bike felt a little goofy to me with the mid controls and drag bars. (6'2) I then sat on the Bobber and wow.... What a difference. The Mini apes and forward controls are a must for me. I was also surprised at the size of the bike. It was smaller than I had anticipated. I really like the Chief, but I honestly don't think it's what I'm looking for. I think I need a little bigger bike. If I wasn't planning on my wife riding with me occasionally, it would be perfect. You have a very nice motorcycle.
Thanks for the review. I love the bike, the screen turned me off though. I really appreciate you're showing this. Now I can forget about this bike. I love my M109R even more with its simple analogic dash board and overall old school controls.
I really like the review that you did on the bobber I don't have my motorcycle license yet but I'm interested in getting a bike like this and this is one of the ones that I'm looking at and I really appreciate your review ☺️
Definately change the seat! I toyed with a backrest clamped to a rear rack, gave me more confidence to go in Sport mode as I felt like I was about to end up seated on the rear rack sometimes. The exhaust was too tame for me so I put a TBR on and it feels and sounds proper now 👍 Can’t really fault mine as only have 700 miles on the clock. Start up is so so slow, it brings the worst of my language out whilst I wait and wait and wait…..
agree with her on the seat. Have a chief dark horse and I have put in almost 1500 miles the seat needs a better one and definitely I would invest on foot rest instead of just the pegs did the 1500 miles in 2 days (7/3-7-4) body pain for 2 days but I am doing it again in a few days just not 1500 miles this time close to 900
I have the same bike and color. I have accessorized mine into a "Super Chief Bobber darkhorse" minus the floorboards and i have the 8" in apes instead of the ones that come with a super. Loving this bike only thing left to do is maybe a 2-to-1. The stage 1 indian slip ons are not loud enough for me.
Congrats!🎉. I have the exact same bike. Stage 1/stage 2, Lloyd’s tune and Dean Speed Rampage slip ons with no baffles. Sounds amazing! Definitely need a new seat. Will prob get the Saddlemen. Good luck!
I just test rode the Chief (Sport Chief specifically) for a good part of the day during an Indian demo day is SoCal and was mostly disappointed by the engine, especially compared to that of the Scout's, which I loved a lot when I had one on rent. One issue I had was vibration that was felt through the handlebars almost constantly from standing position all the way to freeway speed (up to 80mph). Also the power delivery was somewhat disappointing. It's certainly more torquey than the Scout, but also more sluggish in the same time. While with the Scout you get sufficient power/torque all the way from 2,000 to 8,000 rpm (especially above 5,000), with the Chief you only get the power between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm, it drops pretty sharply after 4,000rpm. It's fine for cruising, but much less fun when you want be a bit more "sporty". Sport mode doesn't help much either, it just makes the bike somewhat jerky, although you can get used to the sensitivity of the throttle quickly, but still it's only useful in straight line, I would certainly not be in sport mode in the twisties. I really wanted to like the Chief as you get more bang for your buck compared to the Scout and you have much less of a comfort issue overall, but I'm quite puzzled now about both. Scout is a great platform, but with rather not so great execution (i.e. suspension, seat, brakes). By the time you spend the extra money on proper suspension, seat and LED lights, you are only about $1-2K from how much a Chief DH costs. Chief is a pretty well rounded bike, I wish they had a liquid-cooled engine in it as well... Maybe if you can elaborate more in your comparison video about your experience w.r.t. the engines having ridden both for a longer period. Would also be interested about your thoughts/feelings w.r.t. the extra weight of the Chief and it's nimbleness compared to the Scout, especially how easy it is throwing it left and right in the twisties.
I am a proud owner of indian chief bobber dark horse, it is an amazing motorcycle but i can point out a couple of flaws: The cooling system is poor, with an engine of that size the traffic becomes a real boiler The sound of the engine is imperceptible with the original exhausts, to hear its true sound you have to buy stage one indian exhausts or, failing that, vance and hines. In any case, I highly recommend Indian.
I want to purchase one of these, but not bobber, the dark horse...wish theyd throw the full head dress logo on thise models as well...bikes is sick congratulations stay safe....
I upgraded from a Scout Bobber to the Chief DH. For me it was all about comfort. Even with the stock seat, I am far more comfortable than I was with the Scout, and the passenger seat is also much softer. My Fiancée thought the Scouts was way too hard so if that's of concern to you, it's a big difference. The Chief is pretty torquey! Even in standard you can feel a bit of oomph from that engine! Suspension between the Chief and the Scout is night and day even with a passenger. For my own seat, I might look into alternative options but I am still pretty happy with the stock seat. With a passenger seat you do get a bit more back support. I also liked the quick detach sissy bar for when I want a slightly different look and my SO is not riding with me. Ride command is pretty nice and convenient too. While it might not be perfect, the GPS is nice to have rather than have my phone exposed to the elements and debris. Music control is nice.
Not as quiet as a lot of other brands either though. I bought my Chief this past October and I never got to hear it in stock form. If you like to hear louder pipes please check out what I had done to mine 🤘😎🤙

Great review! Thank you for posting this. How does the bike feel if you are stuck in city traffic? Does it get hot?
I have the same question. I’ve read that the 116 cooks
Love mine! saddlemen stepup is great mod and deanspeed rampage and oh and 585 cams are good too 👍
I didn’t have that exhaust put on mine although they do sound amazing
Finally someone who actually reviews the bike!
I have the same bike and I added the passenger seat. It adds just enough support that you don't slide backwards in sport mode.
Would love a one year review - mods, issues, have you done longer trips etc :-D Loving your content!!
this is a great explanation of the differences!
But YES! cruise control should be on the left, like the ftr, one thing i dislike about my challenge
Thank you!
I wonder why they switched sides for different bikes
Great video! I agree with whayyou said about the cruise control!

It's beautiful. I just bought the Chieftain darkhorse which has the same engine. It's just so nice to ride and I'm coming for a 2022 Goldwing.
Saddlemen seat for sure!
I love me some saddlemen seats! Thanks for watching 🤘🏽

Awesome thanks ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What kind of seat would you get instead?
Any idea when you’ll be uploading your comparison video?

Spot on.
Hey love your videos, just wonder if this bike is gonna be small for a 6'2", any thoughts? :)
I'm currently debating on Scout Bobber or Bobber sixty
How’s the heat on the 116?
I have a question iam 175cm i belive that's 5`9 or 5`8 do you think this or the bobber will suit me better in terms of size comparison
Get this one, you’re gonna want more power eventually
Nice video keep up the good work
Are those the mini apes from Indian's website?
Great video 👍🏼
Hello, how about a windshield? Do you think it's necessary? overall when it is raining or at high speed.
At high speeds for long rides, most definitely. Depends what kind of riding you’d be doing
Did you buy aftermarket levers.. if so, what brand and part number did you go with? I am a female and think the levers are too big. Thank you.
Not yet but psr-usa.com has some adjustable ones for the Chief. I’ve seen them on scouts and they’re pretty nice
🥰 and Thx
Should have kept it!!
damn , aren't those like 22 grand? I love it though.
I thought the dark horse version has the cast aluminum wheels?
Not the bobber model!
im 186cm. is it to small for me? how big is the girl in the video??
Es muy bonita, el único problema que le veo es que no suena. Una de las características que mas me gustan de mi Harley es el sonido.
how tall are you? nice vid!
5’7
Nice bike sis
anybody 6'2 or taller ride this bike??? would love to know how it feels. TY
Get the Indian comfy seat. Its a lot better. I have the exact same bike.
Too quiet from the factory. Indian messed up with this.
You do realize they have multiple noise and emissions regulations they have to follow that forces them to make the exhaust sound like that right?
Not as quiet as a lot of other brands either though. I bought my Chief this past October and I never got to hear it in stock form. If you like to hear louder pipes please check out what I had done to mine 🤘😎🤙
