Should be required viewing for all Americans on how to disagree while still having a civil discourse...and love and respect for one another. Great job, as always, to Margaret Hoover and the Firing Line team.
Wow! I have listened and watched this interview to my amazement. These two educated, compassionate and charismatic individuals have some important and timely ideas fitting the 21st century.
I thought that I was the one who first came up with the term "predatory capitalism". I have used the phrase for at least 20 years. But I do not hold a copyright on the term. ;-) I am pleased that the term is now being used to a broader audience. (I am now a retired school librarian.)
West is incorrect stating that healthcare is a human right. The right to life is a human right, but healthcare in the sense of doctors and institutions is not a human right, it should be available to all, but not a human right. It never has been and never will be. It is a service and services must be paid for.
How can one exercise their "right to life" if the means to which they can maintain and exercise that right are predicated on the possession of increasingly exorbitant amounts of money? In other words, "sure you have a right to life, but if you can't afford to maintain that life, that's too bad." How is that moral?
What does Robert George think of Trump ? He does not allow any views other t5han his own, and he requires absolute loyalty or he will destroy you personally, poltically, and any other way he can. Trump should be considered unfit to be President by anyone who has intellectual integrity. Again here in 2024 what does Professor George think of Ex Presidence Trump who may be elected again ?

Great episode. Civil discourse has all but disappeared. I crave it. Thank you!!

This is what politics should be. Both sides sit down and discuss the issues with respect and dignity for the other side.
This has great rewatchable value
I never tire of this pair.
It'd be amazing if our two political parties were more like these two.
just discovered that show. I usually every comment. But I want to acknowledge the incredible quality of these interviews.
Dammit this was a good watch!

Wow, this was great to watch! 👏🏼
Their friendship is awesome!
Cornell West is not a leftist. He describes himself as a Democratic Socialist and there is a distinct difference.
I would say that Democratic Socialism is within the umbrella of leftism, especially in the United States, but even globally.

Astonished to learn this show was once hosted by William F Buckley Jr. And folk believe there's no such thing as progress!
