That is actually a carpenter bee, which is even cooler! You can tell because bumblebees will have another stripe on their fuzzy abdomen, while carpenter bee abdomens are less fuzzy and it's easier to see the segmentation. Carpenter bees are solitary bees that build nests all on their own. If you want to have more in your garden, you can look up how to set up a nest box for them!
I found a bumble bee queen a few years ago. I managed to catch them and settle them in our greenhouse. I fed her and she actually built a nest. Since then we have had bumblebees in the greenhouse year after year. We protect bumblebees and so I see this as my small contribution to species protection.
My mom use to let bees crawl on her fingers then pet them, we kids thought she was crazy... 60 years later I did the same thing and my grandkids now think I am crazy... 🤣
Ofcourse you can! Bumblebees are adorable and relatively tame. If you find one on the ground you can revive with a little sugar water and soon they'll be on their merry way. That bee taking a nap in the flower, how cute can you get?!!!
I’ve had them all the time! They are very soft and fuzzy. You must put them with a very very gentle and light touch. Last summer the temperature was dangerously high and I saw a bumblebee flailing around on the ground. So I carefully placed my fingertip near her and she climbed onto it and I was able to get her to latch onto a large flower that shaded her. She was too hot! Shared my mister bottle with her. She recovered within a few minutes and flew off like she didn’t get downed by the heat wave
Thank you for sharing this with us.Bumble bees are so very precious,so special to have lovely close up's and those little wings so delicate, and to be asleep for the night on a flower, bless 💗 I know 🐝 bees don't live for very long,so this makes watching this even more lovely.
When I had giant marigolds, I had a couple of pet bumble bees 🐝 who would sleep 🛌 inside the flowers at night, they’d cover themselves with the petals like it was a blanket. They’re so cute, love them. I wouldn’t pet the bees too much, their fuzz is delicate, wings too, can accidentally damage them.
Im thrilled that my son is teaching my six-year-old granddaughter to like bumblebees and honeybees and not to be afraid of them. I bought her a set of stuffed toy bees, and she loves them.
I have passion flowers on the fence next to my house. The bumblebees get drunk off them and fall asleep on them and I pet them on a regular basis when they do
Bees are quite chill away from their nest or hive. Petting them is quite easy, and for some reason many think it's strange or daring. The bees themselves don't seem to care too much.
Yes... i have found chilled wasps in the mornings. They wake in the palm of your hand, and aren't anxious to sting. Sun and sugary water, if available, help them. The wasp landed on my chest, otherwise I wouldn't pick one up
If they crawl around me at their break time I play with them gently with a tiny twig. They like that. And then pull a little on it too. Then they show up when I'm digging.
I was playing around with the bumblebees all day today lol. I was trying to get a cool slomo vid of them. There’s so many for some reason. It’s so cool theyll just hover and wait for any bug to fly by and chase them off. Must be protecting the queen.
That middle leg coming up means stop, I have fed dehydrated bumble bees before with sugar and water and they know what you are doing, but keep pushing and the Bee will raise its middle leg. We have a Bee's nest pretty much every year on our balcony and we have no problems, once the territories are understood, lol
As long as you are not near a bee's nest they generally will not sting you. Even killer bees are usually docile when they are far from the hive. When I was a kid I would pick up wild honey bees in my hand and pet them.
Idk man I’ve seen angry bees and nice bees my entire life just depends on there situation I guess wasps however will always sting you I hate wasps ugh bees are friends
Nice video. The bee in the marigold looks big enough to be a queen. Did you build a bumble bee house for your backyard? There are several nice DIY videos.

Bees do it all the time in my yard.

Aw, she’s so cute. She looked more active after she climbed on your hand. You probably gave her some much needed warmth. 🥰

They are really docile before a storm or while resting. They will just tuck themselves down in a flower. I love petting them!
Very cute and wholesome! Westernkind is amazing and kind!

The fact that they sleep and that we get to see one passed out incredibly adorable in a flower, makes them even more awesome :)

I'm actually kind of scared and nervous to pet the bees. . .
I was at first too. But they are so gentle. I am a little strange, I talk to them too. lol
