Fun video! and I learned a heck of a lot, thanks. I know this video is quite old and you're no longer paying attention to comments but I'd like to know what fly line you are using and what rod was that?
Hey Thomas! the fly line is a standard WF 3wt line, its from a manufacturer i'm testing to sell my own line. the rod is a TFO BVK 10'6 euro rod (3wt) thanks and if you want to check out our other streamside courses you can do them here and on our fly fishing university - thecatchandthehatch.com/streamside-course-confluence-adventures-landing/ thecatchandthehatch.com/product/live-on-the-fly-classes/
Informative video and the instruction was clear and concise. Excellent combination. My wife was sitting across the room and commented that she was learning as you analyzed the drift. Nicely done! Thanks.
Jim Lewis nice glad you got some Value from it! Those winter flies should serve well as long as you have enough weight on your nymphs or as split shot in between for tightlining
@@TheCatchandTheHatch Thanks for the extra tip, appreciate it. Have both George Daniels books on nymphing and the two excellent videos Modern Nymphing and Modern Nymphing Elevated. There's a lot to learn.
Great job explaining, thanks for walking us through, this was very helpful. I love the red rock and the clear water, a majestic setting. Good video. :)
Enjoyed the video. Suggestion, if you plan to produce more fishing videos. To make it easier for the viewer to see the line you might consider putting a small palsa strike indicator on the line. It will hover over the water not in it which makes it easier for us to observe the motion of the line. I’ve seen other fly fishing videos of euronymphing or tight lining with the use of the palsa and it’s pretty effective for us viewers. Just a thought...
Great video. Clear description of how and what to do and look for. I also appreciated what appeared to be real time casting where you made many casts before actually catching a fish. Some videos show guys catching fish on ever other cast. Kudos for not being "that guy." Would you please elaborate on what size/weight of the rod and line, please? Thank you!
@@michaelwoehrl1746 i will always dry fly over euro given the opportunity, but there are many many times where euro and nymph fishing is all that makes the fish eat and I prefer to catch instead of fishing given the chance :)
Loved the video and the info. Very well done from start to finish giving detail and explaining. What mic are you using? I would greatly appreciate any feedback which you use, and how you take audio files to upload with the video. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Have fished that run for years. have never had to siene the water. Pretty basic fly setup. you were right when you said 20 or so casts with no action, time to change flies. do the trout hear you trash talking them? seems that anyone with a camera or gopro is an expert.
I hope the trout hear me trash talk them. It’s the only way it makes sense that it improves my catch rate :) I’ve found anytime I fish a new river or a river I haven’t fished in at least a week, that things often change. Rivers are so dynamic that a quick sampling with a bug seine can help you figure out the fly selection faster. Thanks for watching

B P sure thanks I kept it pretty unedited so thanks for appreciating it. I use a 3wt tfo bvk and 3wt wf line from an unknown brand.
@@TheCatchandTheHatch Cool, thanks! Brian
Excellent work. Can't wait to see more.
Rob G thanks! Panning a winter trip again soon!
Thanks for the clear instruction on both nymphing and seining. I am very eager to watch more!!
Hi great video. I would appreciate you showing your rig setup showing flies and distance between them on your tippet.
You should call this video...... Taking the skill , art and fun out of fly fishing!
i would rename it to that, but i don't think people would watch it
@@TheCatchandTheHatch Good point. Didn't mean to be a dick. I'm just a old school dry dropper guy. More fun casting!
