    Great playing, and the tone is phenomenal - very similar to Rick Grahams. Any tips on how to get that tone?

    • @JakubDiegoTokaj
      @JakubDiegoTokaj  Рік тому +5

      That's the best compliment I could get, thank you so much mam! (Rick is my biggest inspiration). To dial in that kind of tone I'd advise to have fun with a treble booster. Similarly to Rick i'm also using Axe-Fx, but no matter which modeler you have (if you use an amp sim) you should be able to get satisfying results. Watch out for the gain though. In my case I also tried some amp combinations, like for instance combining engl with an fender amp. I know the idea might sound ridiculous, but with a treble booster that's what did the trick for me.

    0:04 how this kinda pattern called? I really like the sound of it but idk the logic to use on scales or arpeggios

    • @JakubDiegoTokaj
      @JakubDiegoTokaj  Рік тому

      You mean the ascending sequence from 0:04 to 0:06?
      It's something I came up with by breaking some solos into pieces and analyzing them, you can try to play two notes on one string, then a single note, and then two notes once again. You end up having a sequence of 5 notes (which can also be played in quintuplets if you want).

    • @JakubDiegoTokaj
      @JakubDiegoTokaj  Рік тому

      Not sure how should I understand this comment. My playing wouldn't change if i'd use a tube amp, I was using it for years before switching to modelers. Besides you can hear the strings acoustically here as well. Modelers are kind of the best solution for people who need to record at home and move their rig for rehearsalas and/or live playing purposes. I'm aware that people still cling to their tube amps (and to be fair it was hard for me to get rid of my engl at first) but digital thing is just more convenient and sounds the way I always wanted.

    • @welern2liv815
      @welern2liv815 Рік тому +1

      @@JakubDiegoTokaj ie; I love the glistening of the high end sound of the pick crossing the strings. Electric glass is what the sound reminds me of. Very present in RG's sound, almost like the pick attack is highlighted and compressed. I identify that sound as an Axe-Fx exclusive. But you mentioned the treble booster and that the sound is not exclusive to Axe-Fx yet any/most modelers should achieve this effect. And I like your technique, very articulate and polished. Keep it up!

    • @JakubDiegoTokaj
      @JakubDiegoTokaj  Рік тому +1

      @@welern2liv815 Yup, although in axe-fx case you could technically tweak it a bit more than with some modelers, not that it's always worth the effort but there's just a ton of options within the drive block itself. Whereas in case of helix for instance it's not as tweakable, still sounds great and you could achieve similar results imo. When it comes to that glistening sound I guess I'd agree. Some dimarzios pickups I have in my guitars work great with these tones, in case of that schecter though it's a SD Nazgul in the bridge and sustainiac in the neck, which works as a single coil (at least I guess it does, sounds kind of like it) when the sustain feature is turned off. I think I used the same preset in this vid as I did with the 'monster lick' video. And even though these are two different guitars with completely different pickups you can hear the tone is similar.
